So I tried to see if I can download a free demo of this thru my xbox. Interestingly, there is no free demo. Since most xbox games seem to get a demo, I wonder if they knew this was a stinker.

I'd say no more than half of Xbox games get a demo. Kinect Disneyland, arguably one of the best Kinect games (er... for kids) has no demo either. And Happy Action Theatre, the actual best Kinect game, does. So there you go.

Due to my limited experience with xbox, I'll grant that probably only half of the games get demos. But there is a demo for Kinect Disneyland; I downloaded it. It does seem like most of the major releases get demos.

Hmmm... looking for a way to still be right here... hmmm...

Ah, here it is... So, there is a demo for Disneyland... but it came out in February- four months after the November release. So it didn't have one upon release, or when I bought it in December.

I don't think any of the Halo games ever get demos, and I think most Call of Duty games eschew demos as well.

This is all somewhat academic, however, because I agree with you. This seems like a game that should have a demo, unless they're afraid it would have a negative effect on sales.

However, the comparison to Disneyland is probably a good one. There's a built-in fan-base that will purchase the game based on the subject matter alone. They'll buy it with or without a demo. After all of those units have sold, there is another segment that might be won over with a demo- if the game is any good.

Hopefully we see a demo in a month or so. I know I won't be buying it any time soon. I doubt a demo would change my mind, but I'd be happy to try it out.

I have a feeling this relates to his desire for a Secret History of Star Wars audio book, which I have also hoped for.

Related only in the sense that there are lots of things I don't quite manage time to read, but to which I would have time in my daily commute to listen.

SHoSW The Audiobook, an OT.com production, would actually take more time for me to work on than just to sit down and read... but I figured there are some people here that might listen to it but would never get around to reading it.

Hell yeah! Sherlock is simply amazing. I'm particularly happy with what they did with Moriarty - I was wary of his characterization in Series 1, but after Series 2 I wouldn't have had him any other way.

"People have died!" "That's what people DO!"

Is this the thread where people spoilerificaly discuss the ending to Series 2 of Sherlock?

Secret History of Star Wars- The Audio Book, An OT.com Production?
Time

Zombie, hopefully you don't hate this idea.

I've been listening to a few LibriVox recordings recently. They're audiobooks of novels that are in the public domain. The readers are all volunteers. Basically, different people read and submit different chapters, which isn't as nice as a single reader, but it's surprisingly not terrible.

Now, I know that SHoSW isn't in the public domain, but Zombie's told me that there is no plan for an audio book.

Assuming he's okay with it, who here would be willing to read a chapter or two to contribute to the project? There are ~10 chapters if memory serves, so this seems totally doable.

Each chapter is a little lengthy, so maybe we should consider farming out sub chapters if people don't want to read so much.

Finally, someone will need to normalize the volume/sound quality as much as possible and make a consistent experience. I volunteer to do this until someone with more skillz (note the 'z') steps in and does a better job.

Forward/Intro: Zombie

Chapter 1: xhonzi (~24 pages)
Chapter 2: Akwat (~88 pages)
Chapter 3: Gaffer (~52 pages) (nice to have a female voice here, methinks)
Chapter 4: xhonzi(~12 pages)
Chapter 5: 005 (~36 pages)
Chapter 6: Ziggy S. (~15 pages)
Chapter 7: <> (~43 pages)
Chapter 8: Sluggo (~16 pages)
Chapter 9: <> (~16 pages)
Chapter 10: <> (~34 pages)

Conclusion: Zombie

*Chapter list and page length taken from e-book v 1.2. Though the official text for this version would be either the first printed version or the revision due 2013.

Just watched the BTTF trilogy for the first time since I was in my early teens, at least I am pretty sure that was the last time I saw them... Wow... uh, I remember those movies being over the top awesome, they were a lot campier and groan inducing than I remembered. Kind of wish I hadn't watched them again and spoiled the great memories.

The first one is still pretty cool. It stands up to time okayishly.

UNFRIENDED!

"The People Vs. George Lucas" documentary...
Time

I, even further behind the times than theBoost, also just saw this.

1. I think the commentary with the filmmakers was much better than the film.

2. I think the "fans" came across as ridiculous. I think there is a very logical, emotions-in-check story here, but I think it got lost with the crying/yelling fans. Sure those guys make up a portion of the fanbase... but I personally loathe association with them. Or, at least, don't like their rants being taken as representation of my opinion. I think the filmmakers, as presented on the commentary, seem to get my intentions here. I'm disappointed the film itself doesn't.

3. The Gary Katz stuff on the DVD special features was the best.
