Star Wars Mythos: Mid-Eighties to Mid-Nineties

The Empire was 40 years old by the time of "Star Wars".

I have a maths problem with that.  Luke is ~18 in ANH, meaning he was sired probably ~19 years prior.  Meaning that Anakin was not Darth Vader ~19 years prior to ANH.

So if the Empire was ~21 years old when Anakin became Vader... what's the story?

And how does "Your father's light saber. This is the weapon of a Jedi Knight. Not as clumsy or random as a blaster; an elegant weapon for a more civilized age. For over a thousand generations, the Jedi Knights were the guardians of peace and justice in the Old Republic. Before the dark times... before the Empire." make any sense?

What claims that the Empire was around for 40 years at the time of ANH?  Especially since they dissolve the Senate halfway into ANH?

And no evil Superman being so evil he smashes liqueur bottles with bar peanuts.

Oh, wait...  :)

Seriously though- Superman III will always have a special place in my heart.  The Clark VS Supes scene is probably my favourite in the whole series.

But as bad as Hackman's Luthor is... I think Vaughn's Luthor is worse.  And Pryor, and the Tower of Pisa, and the atari game, and... tobacco.

Ugh...

Space Command

Yeah, looks great!  Thanks for posting that here.  I've been on Kickstarter a lot over the past couple of weeks and failed to see this one.  They need to do a better job of getting the word out there.

A friend of mine had this idea a couple of years ago after Serenity.  He was pretty sure if they crowd sourced it, they would have plenty of money to make Serenity 2, but I thought he was off his rocker.  How long until that's actually up on Kickstarter?

But Space Command looks like it could be pretty good.  They certainly have the talent.

I read through the tiers and had a hard time figuring out what I should pledge.  Where's the smart (and not so big) money?

Honestly, I never pledged to Space Quest. I was just posting about it in case there were any fans here. I did however pledge to Tex Murphy the other day after I finally got around to watching their video. =P

I played the remake of SQ1, and then went and got SQ2 and SQ3.  I don't think I ever played SQ4.  I made a pledge to them, because I'd like to see them find success, but I frankly might not even get around to playing the game.

Tex on the other hand...  I'm feeling confident that they will meet their goal... It's at about $300k today.  So they just need $150k over the next 17 or so days.  They've made at least $10k most days (with a few exceptions)... so hopefully it's just a matter of time.  Also, typical kickstarter projects get a large % of their funding in the last couple of days... I'm just not sure how typical this project is.  There are a lot of passionate fans... and then there's everybody else (*cough*005*cough*).  Since the fans have already donated... I'm not sure if we'll see much of a swell at the end.

Well since we're pushing Kickstarter stuff in here now. I guess I'll go ahead and post about a couple.

First is from Stacy Davidson, creator of the Han Solo Adventures. He's looking for funds to start work on his first official game for his new studio Warbird Games. It's gonna be a classic point and click adventure game set in a Edgar Rice Burroughsesque scifi universe (awesome). Check it out!

Second, is for Sierra fans. The creators of Space Quest are back and wanna make a new game. I've only ever played the first King's Quest but Space Quest looks interesting. Check it out.

For the record, I donated and pledged to each of these.  Do you think Space Quest is going to make it?

Sitting at $268k.  Donations have really slowed- we're definitely in the doldrums right now.  I'm hopeful that this kickstarter will follow the general kickstarter trend of earning about 50% of their money is the last 36 hours, but I'm also worried that it's reached everyone it's going to reach (for the most part) and the calvary won't be coming.

Help me, OT.com video game thread patrons.  You're my only hope.  Maybe.

If they have actually written the scripts, and those scripts have more digital effects and CGI than the prequels, one can only assume the stories will be on par with, if not inferior to, the prequels.

How in H-E-Double-hell can that be even possible?!?

It aired as "A Princess of Mars", but for the DVD it's been retitled "John Carter of Mars". A dig at Disney's cryptic marketing scheme?
My local drive-in had the new film a few weeks ago and the signs out front said "John Carter of Mars". I applauded as I drove past.

As you... drove... past?

Thanks a lot, 005.  First Ringo and his 1 ball and now this.

I am not thrilled with The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes season 2. For a start they now have a stupid voiceover obscuring all but one guitar riff of the "Assembled We Are One" song which I had grown to enjoy. They ruined Cap's costume (again), and instead of consolidating the dynamic of the team they had in season 1, they introduce a whole new bunch of people. Probably to sell more action figures... I was just waiting for the "Michael Korvac" episode to hurry up and finish. I don't care about SWORD or Ms. Marvel or interplanetary frickin' RACCOONS DAMMIT!

Holy carp!  Is Rocket Racoon on the show now?  I must catch up!

Now that it seems there's a good chance Tex will be back... it had me thinking the other franchise at whose passing I weep openly is Wing Commander.

Then I see this on slickdeals- Fan made WC game "WC Saga" is done and available for download.

Have I died and gone to heaven?

I haven't tried it yet, but the 3.x GB download should have finished last night sometime.

But seriously- Can Half Life 2 Episode 3 be far off?  Or a game that finally reveals the Secret of Monkey Island?
