I expected to find this thread full of "You like Zahn and Veitch? They're terrible and their books suck!" kind of comments.
C3PX:
Since you seem to be on the same wavelength here, who do you trust with this noble effort?
(Hint: I still get to be on the committee)
My favourite is Luke's scream when he trips/falls/jumps off the vane at the end of ESB.
It just wasn't possible to make Luke scream (the original intent, but limited by technology and budget) in 1979. So, it was top of the list of things to chang in 1996. And then it was possible to remove it again in 2004.
Huh?
George believes the same thing. You know, for other people's movies.
Han Solo did live on Tatooine, right?
Twice even!
Shut the H-E-double hell up, C3PX. :)
Yes, 'wings. But the point is... ah nevermind. It'll never happen. I was just suggesting that they sort of abuse the Infinites brand. Use the Marvel 'What if?' model for the comics. Just, write a series of novels that are actual complete replacements.
But as long as we're discussing the questions:
What if Anakin's fall to Dark Side was convincing?
What if the Prequel storyline was actually engaging?
What if you felt romance between Luke & Leia's parents?
What if you could love Star Wars again?
What if you could kick the 1999-2005 prequels to the curb?
What if it was all just a bad dream?
What if Lucas was only kidding?
What if the Prequels weren't aimed at 5 year olds?
What if there were no midichlorians?
What if there was no Jar-Jar?
WHAT IF?????
C3PX, get my thread back on topic.
You are my only hope.
Stay on target!
I've been trying the myspleen torrent, but it's dead. Any other torrents?
Those would be good for a Dark Horse comics series of Infinities based on the Prequels. (and, frankly, what they'll do if anything...) But my suggestion was to use Infinities to backdoor complete rewrites. Maybe reuse character names and likenesses if they have to. And give it to authors that were working in Star Wars prior to the Prequels and had some private concept of what the Clone Wars were and how the Fall of the Jedi/Republic went down, etc. etc...
I meant to say earlier that the petition site does NOT require any kind of registration to sign. I know I've gone to sign online petitions before and decided not to because they wanted me to create an account.
Not so on this site.
Thanks!
Now that's an idea!
neebis, did you know that they are releasing a PC version this fall sometime? It'll be the Sith Edition with all of the extra content.
I had heard that the Wii version was different, but then I was surprised to see just how different it was. Imagine the design for the gameplay was done, but then two companies actually executed it. I haven't finished the Wii game, but I haven't seen any parts of the level that are too close to the 360 version. It's much more "linear" in the sense that there are more hallways and less turning around or even side to side. I think that's to accomodate that the Wii controls didn't provide a way to turn the camera very well.
So, yeah, that plus the fact that very few games on the Wii get DLC (I assume for technical as well as financial considerations) I think that's why the Force Unleashed hasn't gotten additional content like the 360 and the PS3.
Well, you'd have to do it on the sly.
You know, like with the Hulk movie title.
:)
I have both the Wii edition and the 360 version. The Wii is not only not getting the DLC and stuff, it's pretty much a completely different game. It does have the duel mode, however.
A couple weeks ago, LucasArts announced at Comic-Con that they were releasing addtional content for The Force Unleashed. Story wise, the content takes place after the uncanonical "Dark" ending to the game where the player has killed Darth Vader and become the Emperor's new right hand man. Because this story doesn't fit into the canon, they have branded it under the "Star Wars Infinities" label.

Infinities was first coined, as far as I understand, in Star Wars Inifinities: A New Hope but has continued to be used in other comics and now a video game.
This has me thinking: Why not the Star Wars Prequels Infinites?
We should all write Del Ray(or Tor or LucasBooks or who ever has the contract or makes the decisions these days...) and have them hire Tim Zahn or somebody to write a Star Wars Infinities Prequel Series. Give him the latitude to write it any way he wants.
I would assemble a small committee for him consisting of Lawrence Kasdan, Tom Veitch, and me (!) to help him. Kasdan for what I hope is obvious reasons, Tom Veitch because he was one of the original EU thinkers and referenced some idea of the Clone Wars a lot in his 1st Dark Empire series (try to forget DE2 and Empire's End) and me so that at least I can be happy with the result.
Heck, if they're good enough, and we wait for ol' George Lucas to pass on to the big star destroyer in the sky... they could even make them into movies...
Don't worry. I jump all over every chace to talk about the Ewok TV movies too. :)
I think by Battle of Endor he means the Ewok battle at the end of RotJ.
TV's Frink said:I thought you were singing "Sunrise, Sunset." Shows what happens when you read a thread too fast.
1.Sunrise
2. sunset
3. Sunrise
4. sunset
5. Swiftly flow
6. the days
You beat me to it, but I had the same misconception. :)
Well put.
There does seem to be a fear of showing any kind of death in RotJ. It should be WAR, indeed.
So... was no one else around for the Gonk Wars on R.A.S.S.M. in the 95-97 timeframe? Bingowings, you seemed like you might have been in on the joke?

Yeah... I was in a funk that night and did what seemed best at the time.
