the next generation of Jedi
Time

End of jokes.

Anyways, someone here once wondered if the Jedi were shown to be retarded in the Prequels so that they were the authors of their own downfall?

I really like in the Luke + Mara Jade get married comic "Star Wars Union" that the Jedi officiating at their wedding says something to the effect of "So... I guess we recently learned, in the prequels anyways, that Marriage was forbidden by the old Jedi Order... But it seems to have been serving us just fine, so we're a just going to keep doing it!  And hopefully Adywan will fix the prequels and this whole awkward word balloon can sail away!  Sail away into the oblivions!"

I may be paraphrasing there.  Poor EU- having to keep up with the changes that GL keeps laying down.

Just because you can't marry, doesn't mean you can't be with women.

While this is indeed true, there are a large number of female Jedi as well, and "being with a woman," while fun for all, is not at all relevant to babymaking.  Just thought I'd point out your obviously sexist use of language.  =P

Davnes, you really have to watch your sexist talk with Gaffer 'round here.  She'll call you on it everytime!  So like a woman!

(this is especially funny since Davnes has a lady in his avatar, but no one (except Ric) ever thinks he is a girl, which he in fact is not)

Warrior Within started out as my least favourite, but was #1 by the time I finished it.  I thought the story was the best/least predictable.  I liked the "free-roam" nature of the play.  I really liked that the dagger powers were moved to your chest-armour so that you could choose weapons in both hands.  The ending I thought was best.  When I started Two Thrones, I regretted that it seemed the puzzle nature was slimmed down.  I also felt cheated by not being able to decide when to become the dark prince...

I love you, man...*hic*...The Silly Thread
Time

Not to wax serious on you, Frink... but here are my thoughts on being silly in a thread dedicated to being silly- Where's The Fun (WTF?) in that?

I was the humour columnist on my high school newspaper.  My literature, history, and science teachers (and maybe others) suggested I take creative writing to "get it out of my system."  To what "it" were they referring?  To being silly in my write ups.  I wrote one of my science papers in Huckleberry Finnish, and my history papers read like Dave Barry columns.  So not only did I take the advice and enroll in Creative Writing, but I submitted to be the humour columnist on the school paper.  I didn't even write a piece for the tryouts, I just submitted some of my funny serious papers.  I got the job and thought it would be easy.  Just write, and be inappropriately funny.

Well, the problem was that it was really hard to be inappropriately funny in a funny column.  People read it for funny, so they're looking for high parts-per-million and you have to knock their socks off.

In the end, I think I covered politics and the jokes just tell themselves.  :)

I hope the new Prince of Persia is good.  I've loved PoP since the early CGA days, and the Sands of Time Trilogy was my favorite.  I knew it was time for Sands of Time to be put to bed and let something new in, but I wasn't overly thrilled with the direction they took PoP7.  Until I played it.  I never liked it as much as SoT, but I still thought it was pretty good.  When they announced that PoP8 was going back to SoT, I was actually disappointed they weren't following up with a true sequel to PoP7.

I played the God of War III demo on the District 9 BD.  It was all right.  Too gory for me, I'm afraid.  As a non-PS gamer for so long, I was afraid I was missing out on the God of War games.  Turns out the clones and copycats have had me occupied just fine.

I'm playing Uncharted as I mentioned above.  I like the game except for the combat.  It occured to me while playing- I shouldn't have to cringe everytime the room fills with thugs, but I do...  But it seems very repetitive and boring.  The exploring and the story are fun though...  Can't wait to see how they've fixed this in UC2.

I am kind of weary of games that suck away a lot of time. I have just recently dug Fallout 3 out of the whole I buried it in to protect myself from it and have been giving it more of my time (ever see the movie Jamanji? That is what Fallout 3 feels like to me). Just found the last of the twenty bobbleheads yesterday! I absolutely love that game, but it is so huge, overwhelming, and time consuming; I don't think I'd really be interested in ever playing another one of those kinds of games again.

I went through that last May when I finished my 120 hour run through Oblivion + Expansions.  It took six months.  I fell so far behind on my backlog that I'm still 3 or 4 games behind.

In other news, I finished Shadow Complex this week.  Awesome awesome...  I've already started it again, but I don't know if I'll see it through to a 2nd or 3rd ending.

Next, I have to finish ODST... then it's back to something in the backlog.  Burnout Paradise?  Mass Effect 1?  Riddick?  Who knows...?  Oh wait, I borrowed Uncharted 1 and am half way through that.  Guess I need to finish that one.

Just one more: The Polar Bears.  The answer to the mystery of the polar bears was pretty logical... but it wasn't very magical or exciting.  The question was phrased, "Holy COW!  What kind of tropical island has POLAR BEARS ON IT???!?  The answer must be incredible...  The answer turned out to be: "Some scientists brought them to the island."

Huh...

The identity of the four toed statue somewhat is the instigator of my cause for concern.  The producers and the ABC website have all publicly said that the statue is supposed to be the Egyptian Female Hippo Goddess "Taweret"  But the art department, as far as I can tell, has delivered an Egyptian Male Crocodile God "Sobek."  And then, after years of wondering what the statue is... it seems that this will probably be another casualty of not having enough time left in season 6 to do much with it.

It reminds me a little of In-n-out.  Several years back, I had a friend from California whose wardrobe was primarily 6 or 7 In-n-out t-shirts.  He probably wore pants as well, but that's neither here-nor-there.  When asked about In-n-out, the conversation went like this:

HIM: Have you ever had In-n-nout?
ME:  No.
HIM: Well, let me tell you, it is the best burger place on Earth.  It is SOOOOO great!  You'll never be able to have a burger anywhere else after you have one!  You have not really lived until you have one.
ME:  Sounds great!

Years later: I had an In-n-out burger.  It was decent.  But I didn't buy any t-shirts.  Then I run into this friend.

ME:  So, I had an In-n-out burger.
HIM: And how was it????  Did it blow your mind?  Did you almost die right on the spot from how good it was?  Did you divorce your wife so you could marry it?
ME:  No.  I thought it was all right, but I didn't really think it was much different from most of the other burgers I've had.  I think I like those $.59 hamburgers that come in kids meals about the same.
HIM: Well... everyone has personal tastes....

Everyone DOES have personal tastes!  This is true.  But that didn't matter when I hadn't ever had one before.  He told me it would blow my mind etc., not that I might or mightn't like it based on my personal taste but that due to his personal taste, he quite enjoyed them!

So... back to the statue... I think it was like, "Can you solve the mystery of the statue?  It's a clue to the mystery of the whole island!"
ME:    So it's Taweret.  Or maybe Sobek.
THEM: Yeah, it's not really that big a deal.  It's just Jersey.
