BioShock!!! (1, 2 and Infinite and SPOILERS)
Time

Here's my super short spoiler-free review-

BioShock Infinite is like winning $10 million in the lottery, and then realizing you only get $5 million after taxes.

Or, more directly, it is still one of the best games to come out in years, but only half as good as it looked in the trailers.

Things worth discussing- The Luteces, The Racism, The Difficulty, The Angel Columbia, The Which-BioShock-is-the-best? (Columbia vs Rapture, Plasmids vs Vigors, Gun inventory, health packs, ), The Ending Generally, How-Would-This-Look-In-Oculus-Rift?, The Thing After The Ending, What Happened to the Game in the Trailers?, Does the Xbox version actually look worse than the Xbox version of BioShock 1???, Why the cutscene when you die doesn't make any sense, or maybe it does, Will the Circle be Unbroken?, Elizabeth- revolutionary AI or more of the same, etc.

Finished Bioshock Infinite - Save spoilers for the Bioshock thread.

xhonzi! Y U No discuss Infinite?

I will!

Also getting back into RDR in a big way, especially trying to complete free roam challenges. Anybody got it and want to posse up?

It's too bad that Fives thinks he's too cool for gaming these days.

I have RDR. I haven't done any multiplayer and I decided to give it a break after finishing Mexico. I was really enjoying it, but I felt it starting to wax off...

I'd be willing to posse-up sometime.

I did another movie commentary with the fine folks that helped me do the Revisited one, this time joined by Mrs. O'Five to talk about "Inception."

Unfortunately, I just remembered this morning that it was you guys who convinced me to see it, so I am ashamed for not mentioning it in the commentary.

Just like Revisited, you don't have to be watching the movie to appreciate it, and don't expect too much technical detail from it.

Let's start a movie discussion podcast! Gaffer can be the leader, so we'll call it the MacGaffer Group. It will be Gaffer, xhonzi, 005, and Frink. I know, the first movie we discuss can be Inception!

005:
Not now and not ever! I will never see Inception and I will never do a movie discussion Podcast! I WILL MOST CERTAINLY NEVER DO A MOVIE DISCUSSION PODCAST ABOUT INCEPTION! MARK MY WORDS, or I OWE YOU A COKE!

I think you owe me a coke.

General Star Wars Random Thoughts Thread
Time

I borrowed a DVD from the library the other day. I had to bring the empty case to the this redbox style vending machine which spits out the discs. A monitor shows an animation of a DVD case being scanned, the disc being vended, and the disc going into the case.

What's on the case?

The Star Wars Holiday Special.

Which is sadly not available at my public library.

People hate the prequels because how they were made.

But, if Episode I-III were made first, people would love them more. That means that people would dislike Episodes IV-VI if they were made later.

That's like saying people would have liked Jack & Jill better than Raiders of the Lost Ark if Jack and Jill had been made first.

Raiders of the Lost Ark would have never been made had Jack & Jill been made first.

Bingo "I hate show tunes" wings:
I've never met anyone too old for time travel.

Unless you're Dur, apparently.

This is what I meant:

When I got the DVDs a while back, I was watching some of the BTS stuff, and enjoyed the Bobs talking about where the ideas came from. Gale said that the genesis for him was looking at his parents' High School yearbooks and realizing that they were once teenagers and had their own High School experiences. As he looked at the pictures, he wondered if he could have even been friends with his parents, or if they would have settled into different cliques.

I find that the first movie works best for me on that level now... the teen who meets his parents as teens... but for my son it works best on this level:

TIME TRAVEL IS COOL!

I still (a little past 28, but regardless) think that time travel is cool and all... but the movie means a lot more to me now than it did then.

I was in the BofA scholarship regional finals, which is (or at least was, back then) a debate-style panel with the other dozen or so contestants. We were given a question to debate, and when I saw it, I knew right away that most of the others would be arguing for a particular point that I happened also to believe in. I made a conscious decision to argue the other side, even though I didn't believe in what I was arguing for. The debate ended up being everyone versus me, and since I held my own, I stood out and thus emerged the winner. That's the only time in my life that I have done that... it felt really risky, but I'm guessing that's what politicians do all the time.

I did the same thing in debate. I grew up in a very homogeneous area, and there was always a side that no one really wanted to take up. I took pride in being able to debate positions I didn't believe, because it was then raw debate with personal feelings off the table. Some people debate very emotionally and I've never seen that work (except for maybe my wife).

I won most of my debates (then, not now), and a few people would come up and tell me how I changed their opinions. That felt kind of terrible. I told them I didn't actually like the side I debated, but I'm not sure that mattered.

As you said, it's given me a distaste for lawyers and politicians and the desire to never be one.

It's going to be even more disappointing in about a year and a half, with no functional hoverboards or flying cars on the horizon. ;)

You'd think there would at least be a real Cafe 80's restaurant by now.

SHUT UP!

Look, there's still time. I know he's not that young anymore, but I believe bkev's had his pants' pockets turned inside out for several years now.

IT'S

GOING TO HAPPEN!

C3PX- I watched the trilogy 2 years ago with my (then) 8 year old son and we both really enjoyed them. I was braced for disappointment, but it may have been the most I've ever enjoyed them. I liked them as a youth, but didn't appreciate a lot of the finer points. I really hated everything cowboy when I was younger, so I really disliked III. This time I quite enjoyed it and found it a worthy conclusion to the Trilogy. Still... I recognize Part I is probably the best movie of the set and stands alone, but still I think that II is my favourite as well.

As an added bonus, when they tried to put 1955 in a jar and keep it forever, they accidentally put 1985 in another jar... a jar you couldn't see until 1985 was well gone. I think the 1955 segments might have been nostalgic for my parents, but I get a kick out of 1985. The old cans, logos, fashion, etc...

Doc Zeus killing Kronos Tower, etc.. ;)

My son really enjoyed them because time travel is still really cool for 8 year olds.

Help: looking for... DTV: Golden Oldies (Disney Music Videos)
Time

They don't extract individually- you need the whole set. It's a bit of a pain, but all of them need to be present and whole or else nothing works.

If one of them is broken, I think 7-Zip will tell you which one.

It's basically because it's one big file that you couldn't upload/download reliably, so you split it into manageable chunks. But until you have all of the chunks, you don't have the original file.
