StarWarsLegacy.com - The Official Thread
Time

The powers that be need to realize what they’ve got here…not only with the (at times literally unbelievable) results you’ve accomplished, but with you THE PERSON who dedicated a portion of their LIFE to this effort. If after seeing all the “evidence”, they still choose not to pursue and take advantage of this opportunity, I certainly hope that Legacy finds a way to escape…at least to the fans who will appreciate it most. That’s what makes some of us as unique as you are. You don’t need to be the person who “Saved Star Wars”, and while I can only speak for myself, I assume that most of us don’t need to shout from the rooftops that we’re in possession of such an important piece of film history. I look forward to this project being available for one major reason, because this is the STAR WARS I’d like to show my 7 year old son Jake on our home projector. I was 7 when I first saw STAR WARS in 1977, and he is now is 7…and enjoyed his first theatrical taste of the saga with Episode 7. With some luck, I’ll be able to show him Legacy while he’s still at that magical age. Then the circle will truly be complete 😃

team negative1 - star wars 1977 - 35mm theatrical version (Released)
Time

For me, the earliest indicator that the soundtrack is '93 or later is the escape pod scene…Just after 3PO says “I’m not getting in there”, the '93 mix and all mixes going forward, have that electrical impact sound that originally wasn’t used until EMPIRE. Love this version so far, we are ALL so appreciative for the TEAM’S efforts. My 7 year old will be introduced to the original version very soon!

They aren't called cigarette burns by anyone but Tyler Durden. They are called changeover cues or cue marks.  It's nice to see them again.

I saw that and giggled as well.

:)

Hey, if it was good enough for legendary projectionist Tyler Durdon, it's good enough for me:)

However that term was used well before Fight Club.

Help Wanted: STAR WARS OT TV SPOTS (TV TRAILERS)
Time

I originally posted this under the GENERAL DISCUSSION forum, but felt it was relevant from a restoration perspective as well…thanks!

Greetings all.  Several years back I put together a compilation of SW original trilogy TV spots…many authentic, some recreations based upon actual audio…details are here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qfqVGgwVa5w

I’m working on an updated version, but have pretty much gone dry looking for new ones.  I’ve located some throughout the forums here but are looking for more actual spots…specifically several SW 78/79 (including a C3PO SPOT)…2 SW 1982 rerelease spots, and a JEDI rerelease from '85.

If anyone has any sort of lead on tracking these and MORE down, please shoot me an pm…I would greatly appreciate it.  Below are the release dates for the OT.  Thanks much!

SW - MAY 26 1977…JULY 21 1978…AUGUST 15 1979…APRIL 10 1981…AUGUST 13 1982

EMPIRE - MAY 17 1980…JULY 31 1981, NOV 19, 1982

JEDI  - MAY 25 1983…MARCH 29 1985

Info Wanted: So how bad is the 2011 Star Wars sound mix really?
Time

Supposedly most of the original sound stems were discovered for the '04 mix...most of.  That's why you hear a very clear difference in quality throughout the scenes mentioned...most notably in the Tarkin/Leia scene ("..a military target, then name the system!").  Here, the quality shifts mid sentence at times...from the (muddier) quality we are so used to, and the (newly discovered) bits with much greater dynamics.  Either many more sound elements were rediscovered, or Wood found a way to equalize them, minimizing the differences because in my opinion, the blue-ray is a far superior mix...with the exception of Obi-Wan's yell, etc.

Team Negative1 - The Empire Strikes Back 1980 - 35mm Theatrical Version (Released)

I hope that company put more work into their product than they did into their copy writing:

Ultra HD is incredible quality and there are millions of hours of Ultra HD content that’s been generated over the last 100 years locked up in 35mm film that is stored in vaults worldwide! The new Cintel scanner will scan negative and positive 35mm film into amazing quality Ultra HD and you can unlock the extra resolution from 35mm film that no one has been able to see until now!

Yecch.
