What is your home theater setup for watching Star Wars movies? (or what equipment would like to get if you could afford it/or dream setup?)
Time

Most of the time, I'm watching on a tiny 17" monitor and listening through audiophile headphones, but on occasion I will watch in my "souped up living room" - 56" 1080p flat screen hooked up to a custom built surround sound system. It gets the job done. :)

I will gladly sacrifice 45 gigs of permanent hard drive space to own them all!

Not good enough.  The Star Wars Gods demand the sacrifice of a virgin as well.  Shouldn't be too hard to find here...

;-)

Good thing it's not a virgin girl. I think a girl of any type would be a tough thing to find around here...

:D

No need to be sorry Harmy.  We all greatly appreciate all your hard work with this project, and download it multiple times to get an improved version is well worth it and not a problem.  I do hope you consider a 2.1 of the AVCHD, but if not it will just force me to buy a blu-ray burner.  LOL

+1. I'd rather download the huge files 5 times to get the newest "fixes" rather than to have it get held up indefinitely to make sure it is "perfect."

Making our own 35mm preservation--my crazy proposal
Time

Probably because you can still see (subconsciously) the grain structure. It hasn't been DVNRed to death, so it breathes...

Also, when I said it looked good, I meant compared to what's out there. For non-film people, the difference between Eastman and LPP doesn't make as much concrete sense, but if you've ever worked with the two, as I have, believe me when I say that LPP is miles beyond Eastman as far as color. The final version will be awesome, I just know it.

-1, I think this has been said before, but I'm pretty sure your project has decimated the GOUT. I think that for OOT, yours should be base 1 for anyone using frames or clips (like Harmy did) from the GOUT.

Great job!

team negative1 - star wars 1977 - 35mm theatrical version (Released)
Time

That is absolutely amazing -1. Seriously - great work.

You know, this project reminds me of that line in the title - "Rebel spaceships, striking from a hidden base, have won their first victory against the Galactic Empire." It is amazing, if not slightly sad, that hundreds of fan-preservationists have done what one man refuses to do.

That was not my intent and I apologize.  I in no way feel I am entitled to anything.  I was under the impression that the MKV wasn't going to get anymore attention, but now it is cleared up and I am aware that h_h is on the case.  I really didn't want to have to download the AVCHD so I was concerned.  So let's all please stop with the swipes at each other, and resume regular programming.

Sorry for the drama.  Back on topic!

No hard feelings. I just wanted to make sure that Harmy and h_h didn't get the short end of the stick - they devoted hundreds (if not thousands) of hours making this for us. Apology accepted.   :)

I'll "chill out" once I know the situation is resolved.  I hope there will be instructions and links to any programs we might need when the fixed audio is available.

Dude - remember that this is free? How much did you pay h_h or Harmy to make this nice project for you? Slow down; nobody's going to get left in the dust. As soon as a fix can be made, a fix will be made. No "fixes" should be required on your end, unless you are very impatient; a new, fixed AVCHD will be made and uploaded in the next few days...
