Why? There are plenty of 720p MKV BD rips available of the SW movies that are well below 4gb.

There probably wont be if the PIPA bill passes, and we might as well kiss Empire: Revisited and original trilogy.com goodbye if it does get passed.

Maybe a little less drama and more common sense please. Since when does a USA law become international law? Take a deep breathe and relax.

General question. Does anyone know if the MKV version will be below 4gb (in order to avoid incompatibility issues with FAT32-formatted systems)? I've read that it will be 720p, but of high bitrate.

This made me chuckle a little. Thank you.

Why? There are plenty of 720p MKV BD rips available of the SW movies that are well below 4gb. So, I think it was a valid question.

Didn't say it wasn't a valid question. What I said was it made me laugh, and I thanked you for it. Jeez. lol

Thanks for the PM. It looks incredible. The only thing that stuck out for me was the orange sun during the Binary Sunset. It looks too crisp and almost pasted on, it just needs softening very slightly.

A small niggle. The rest of it is bloody amazing. This is what Lucasfilm should've put on the BluRays - it's stunning!

Keep up the excellent work.

Why would you ever "soften up" anything in an edit that was part of the original film? Weird. Guess what BluRays look sharp.

Definite improvement

What happens to the colors when you make the white balance is taken off Luke's outfit?

Isn't his outfit supposed to be white? not yellow or grey or pink?

OK, so I am about half way through the workprint so far, and I am very excited about it! However, I do have one thing that I noticed.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

If you look to the left of C3PO, although it seems brighter than V1.0, it almost starts to get a little pixelated through the brightness. V1.0 was a darker shot overall, and the rest of the shot looks much better in V2, but there are a few times in this same sequence where Owen is talking to C3PO where this happens.

Other than this, it looks great so far. I will be sure to let you know if I find anything else.

That shot looks perfect.

I can't speak for him but I think he is doing the theatrical version which he has said many times.

Yeah Troyig88 I know, which is why I find a change like this a little strange to say the least, not to mention introducing problems with continuety.

At face value it seems very unlike Harmy, that has always put the utmost importance in reproducing the theatrical release as accurately as possible. Were the stars that bright during the scroll in the theatrical release? Is there a source that suggests that they were? I'm not old enough to have seen the theatrical release in the cinemas so I have no idea whatsoever. I'm pretty sure they're not that bright in the GOUT and they're definately not in the blu-ray either. It'd be nice to hear from Harmy why he decided that the stars needed to be brightened so much.

Even if you had seen the film in 77/78 in the theater like I did there is no way you would remember how bright the stars were....

Speak for yourself. What a presumptuous statement. Please turn down the ego just a bit. I saw the movie in theater DOZENS of times , and yes the stars were very bright and visible.

Really? Give me a break! There is NOW WAY THAT ANY OF US can remember exactly how bright the starrs were in a film from 33 years ago! No way in HELL! I saw the film 34 times in the theater from May 25th 1977 all the way through July of 1978 and I can honestly say there is no way I can remember what they looked like back then!

You must not be a very big fan then. This movie was such a moving experience some of us can remember small details down to what we had to eat during the movie and yes, even how bright and awe inspiring the star fields were that helped make the movie iconic.

I couldn't care in the least if you can't remember shit, but don't make blanket statements that assume that everybody is as dense as you are.

Yeah, the xmas release is going to be impossible now, sorry. I clearly underestimated the amount of work that was still to be done. I don't even want to give another estimate, since it would really be just a wild guess at this point.

On a more positive note, I will hopefully soon post the next workprint within the next few days. It will actually be the first hour or so, from the beginning, because I made a lot of changes based on some of the observations made by you guys, so it's possible I could have made some new mistakes.

Count me in Harmy for the next workprint :)

I might not be able to offer the insight that Aluminum Falcon can, but - despite my earlier comments to the contrary - I have to say that I find the color pallet a tiny bit too warm compared to V1.

V1:

V2 WP:

Timecodes may not match exactly but hopefully they demonstrate what I mean. Mind you, this may boil down to personal taste. I'm still amazed by your work, and I won't deny that the new pallet certainly brings out lost detail a lot more than the previous.

Not to say anything wrong with your opinion but I like it. V1 looked too dark to me...its nice to see the changes in this version.

However, nothing visual happens during the strike to the floor. No sparks, no light from sparks, nothing.

In later scenes when Luke and Vader's sabers strike walls and handrails, there are either sparks or cuts. The same for Return of the Jedi when Luke hits the handrails before defeating Vader, there were sparks flying each time his saber hit the handrails.

I would have done a mockup, but I wouldn't know how to create sparks, if they would be visible. But if no sparks would be visible, at least the flash of light from the sparks should be, right?

Hell sure, why not?

I usually hate obvious and flashy CGI, but that looks horny!

If this can be put out in motion I might be satisfied a lot.

Sorry but that just looks gay as hell. Thank goodness Adywan has better taste than that.

Star Wars OT & 1997 Special Edition - Various Projects Info (Released)
Time

I feel guilty not doing a full review but I hope I can explain why I haven't.

I've watched all three movies now twice and can't find anything wrong with them. I'm not a technical person when it comes to Audio/ Video. But I can tell you all that I have been enjoying these movies now for the past few days and it has put me back like I was a teenager again. If you like the original OT then these are the cream of the crop. I still don't understand how in the hell Dark Jedi was able to IMPROVE the picture like he did. Isn't that impossible? Not for this set. They look amazing, especially coming form the GOUT, they sound amazing.

I owe Dark Jedi a debt of gratitude for finally letting me watch these movies like I wanted to all along. It is obvious that a ton of work went into to this release. Thank you for sacrificing your time and money to give this release.
