Selectable crawl on new DVD? Or just the old one?

It is not selectable. And has been pointed out before, its a reproduction of the crawl.

I got these discs yesterday and they look pretty bad. Not that much better than the LDs themselves, and in some cases worse because of the ditizization. As a friend of mine commented, "I'm glad I still have my VHS."

Just wait until Boris reads this post....

So, this is how the DVDs are going to look...

It looks better than most of the times I saw Star Wars in theaters.

Really? I mean, really? You didn't notice the lack of stars on the left side of the SD? Or how about the salt and pepper noise that is most apparant
on the planet? I guess some of us look deeper at the details than others...

Also if all these screens are shitty 72 dpi crappy captures of the DVD then they all equal quality to each other. I agree that the pic abouve is one of the best presented but it goes to show that the crappy Kantina sceen is
as bad as it looks as well....

Well some screens of the new bitchen George Lucas approved OOT "Bonus Material" have been posted in the General Star Wars forum....and all I can say
is, we are all EXTREMELY LUCKY and blessed that the X0 team decided to come together, spend money they didn't have, spend time on the project that took away time
from their families, and make sacrifices to bring us the OOT.

Thank you guys. It is amazing to me that the raw X0 transfer looks better than the official OOT.

Thank you for putting your extraordinary talents into this project....you have been a blessing to many a Star Wars fan.

Lucas has lined his pockets plenty over the years from all of us, so from a certain point of view we OWN Star Wars. I don't give a shit what the law says - when we've pumped enough money into the machine we should have some inalienable right of ownership.

"So what's stopping us from dressing up like Ninja's and storming LFL and seizing the original (if any) film elements?" How about the fact that that's crazy...I am 38 years old and don't play "dress up" anymore....( yeah I know...I had a little sister, what's a big brother gonna do...).....and oh yeah, I don't want to be shot by the police when they come blazing up to the GL mansion.....

You are scaring me. This is the type of nonsense that is ruining this site... It makes us sound like a bunch of psychotic deranged fans....Please be serious....

lol, Superbit. If by that you mean the hightest audio and video quality possible, then you should realize that that is already implied in our release.

Yes, that's what I meant. I knew that your answer would teach and not belittle like some choose to do....thank you Zion.

The "original crawl" on the new DVD is NOT the original crawl! Screenshot inside!
Time
I know this is completely missing the point of the crawl comparison, but I just have to point out something,
Is it just me, or does the "restored starfield" kick ass over everything else? Even the 2004 DVD.....obviously it does....excellent work Zion...

And I have to say, that is what I remember seeing in the theaters, a huge bright deep awesome star field that made my imagination run wild.
Thank you Zion, Laserman, MeBeJedi......

And I further apologize for this but...I even prefer the re-done crawl too, it would be a shame to see the "restored starfield" while trying to read a noisey dot out of focus crawl...

OOT DVDs - interlaced or progressive?
Time
I hope it is that bad, and I'll tell you why. If the offical OUT is so bad that no one can defend it then it puts pressure on Lucas to do something....

If the OUT is a "exceptable but not great" kind of release then the debate rages on and nothing gets settled. Despite what some members have said here, we the fans deserve better....maybe if Lucas is embarressed industry wide, he might try to redeem himself.....

Interlaced and single layer all the way baby! Yeah!

Boris...First I would like to say that I finally have some respect for you after all. By starting a new thread you at least showed some forethought and common sense, not to mention at least a little respect for the X0 thread. Thank you.
With that said, I have a few responses to some of the topics you have brought up.

No, I don't know you from Adam and could care less what you do...but let me make one thing perfectly clear. Lucas has not given us EXACTLY what we wanted.

TWICE. George's 1997 vision/version....oops just kidding....George's 2004 vision/version......LAME. Lucas's vision of Star Wars seems to be an ever changing cloudy mess....come on George make up your mind.

I do appreciate what the X0 team is doing, I really do. I'm certainly not a "fan of the project" - but I do believe in preservation...

Boris, you are being somewhat disingenuous here. Look at what you wrote earlier...

"I don't understand not wanting to buy the official product on DVD, and then expecting to download a pirated DVD copy made from Laserdisc."

You can't have it both ways. PICK ONE.
And yes, the most obvious statement EVER to be made award (I'm certainly not a "fan of the project") goes to Boris! LOL

That's because to you, most of what goes on here, at this site, is illegal. Guess what I don't....most of the people here don't.

Fans, be it Lucas worshipping disciples like yourself or Lucas bashers have ALL contributed to the mans wealth and fortune. "He owns shit to the fans?" Really? FUCK. I want my ALL my money back then. Let's see the 3 times I saw Star Wars as a kid doesn't count, my father paid for those tickets. But everything else from then on I paid for myself. A dozen or so times to see ESB, A dozen or so times to see ROTJ, one time each for the prequels....countless, and I mean countless Star Wars merchandise ranging from figurines to posters to models to clothing and beyond for the last 25 years or so....and oh wait, one bought and paid for copy of the definitive collection laserdiscs, 4 bought and paid for VHS copies and my crown jewel....my very own bought and paid for 2004 DVD Trilogy set. (Love those crushed blacks and bluish-white storm troopers....)
I'd say a over a grand easy. Give it back you ungrateful fat ass....oh wait Boris says you owe shit to me......oh OK, I guess I'm wrong then....never mind.
