You know vbangle, if you hadn't kept goign, this could all be over now. Savage already "answered" his post politely, which it seems you did not. However, sev, he's probably intentionally ignoring your post.

Listen, this kid did the same thing before Ady released the DVD5...if anyone has perpetuated this, it's sebv32, NOT me. Then again this disagreement was over but then you had to get your two cents in, didn't you....

I'm not coming after anyone in particular here, nor am I flaming any one post, but please just give Adywan the time to finish the DVD-9. He will certainly announce its availability here and we'll all be able to acquire it soon enough. I can't speak for him, but from the sound of it, the authoring is close to finished and he is also finishing his cover, which seems to be the main factor here. Once everything's done, it's done and there will be rejoicing around the land. :)

In the meantime, there are DVD-5s of the PAL version, the NTSC version, the NTSC Purist version, an Xvid version, and a couple of earlier PAL and NTSC versions that weren't not quite up to snuff. ;) These are all readily available via alt.binaries.starwars, fanedit.org, and various torrent sites (except for the Purist version for some reason). I even saw a 700 mb Xvid on Demonoid the other day.

Any of these releases are great to enjoy the film as is, but the DVD-9 will certainly have some other special features and a higher bit rate, lending to an improved picture. That being said, I can't imagine the video being much better than the existing single-layer releases. I don't have many DVDs that look much better than what Ady has already put out there.

This has been a project over two years in the making and has been plagued by delays and setbacks. Trying to lock down a specific release will only lead disappointment if the dual-layer release is delayed from that date as well. I'm looking forward to this as much as the next person, but what's out there now is great for the time being.

Now that I've said all this, I fully expect Ady to start uploading the PAL DVD-9 in the next 30 minutes! :)

I'm NOT asking for Ady to set an exact date, or even week for the DVD-9 release, but it would be cool to know if we are looking at a month, or 3 months or more. Something in the ballpark.
So I guess you're never going to stop being annoying, even though Adywan has continued to ignore you...You made the same nagging requests for the DVD-5....Here's a hint. Stop already.

And stop your flaming. I don't know why this is such a hard question to answer, he keeps belting out a "purist edition", as "soundtrack edition" which are very cool and weren't even hinted at until mere days before they came out. All I am asking for is a ballpark date, tell me what is wrong with that? I donated to this project as well. I am not making a demand, merely asking a question. If it going to be more than a month, he can just say so. It's not that hard to answer.

I'll tell you whats wrong with that....Adywan doesn't owe you anything...who's give s a shit that you donated? LOL I guess Ingo Sucks/Zigfried lives after all.......

Seriously can't you just stop already? Isn't clear that you're not going to get your answer? Stop embarrassing yourself.

opinions - how the release of the original to theatres was different than the new three films.
Time
I was 9 in 1977 and saw Star Wars at our local drive-in. Drive-in theaters were unique and special....you got a completely different experience watching a movie in a drive-in.

I saw Star Wars in the back seat of a '72 Olds Delta 88. Back then everybody would arrive at the drive-in hours before the movie started...(in order to get a good parking spot). Once we found a good spot, Mom would let us disappear to the drive-in's playground...all the kids would play in the playground area until it got dark enough for the trailers to start, then the moms would start shouting for their kids to come back to their cars....

I saw Star Wars many times after that but only once in the drive-in. I know I didn't get the full effect of the picture and sound that others got when they saw it in a in-house theater but to me it was just as fun and awe inspiring....

As a 9 year old boy in the 70's who's biggest thrills came from collecting baseball cards and on the weekends running my COX model dragster up and down my parents driveway, Star Wars was mind blowing....before Star Wars, movies in the 70's were all about crime, drugs, racial tension, war or anti-war.....we didn't go to the drive-in often, so Star Wars was radical because it was so different than what movies were about then....Star Wars was fun.

Anyway that's my two cents, hope it helps....

Adywan,

When I was 9 and went to see The Star Wars, I loved it....

When I was 29 and went to see Star Wars IV SE, I liked it...

When I was 36 I prepaid through Amazon for my copy of the new and improved
2004 Star Wars IV SE. I slammed it in the player the day it arrived and hated it....

I just got done watching your SWR DVD5 again. And in doing so I learned something about myself I never knew before.... Because of my past experiences, I thought that the OOT was the only version I would ever truly love....Lucas had seen to that. But you know what? I was wrong. I am so satisfied with your version that at this point the OOT has faded considerably for me. And I think the reason is that your version corrected the major issues, that for me just completely ruined the film.

1. The overall color balance. YOU fixed it. Period.
The 2004 DVDs are so bad it makes them unwatchable.

2. The Stars. YOU fixed them as well. LFL KILLED them in the 04 set. You brought them back. Thank you.

3. Han shot Greedo. Han didn't shoot first or second...Thank you for putting that scene back the way it was.....

And as far as all the other fixes and enhancements go, I consider them bonuses. Which puts your version way over the top of any other version of SW that I have ever seen......

Thank you Adywan.

You don't see McQuarrie making money out of his SW artwork, and he originated the designs in the first place.

Nice book, I got one. McQuarrie had Lucas' blessing, though. This topic is about a prop maker that is profiting off an intellectual property without permission.

HUH? So why would you say, "You don't see McQuarrie making money out of his SW artwork" when have his book? You aren't making much sense....

Look, the ONLY reason why McQuarrie can make any profit on HIS artwork is that Lucas knows that if he dicked with McQuarrie, Star Wars fans would rebel and fuck with GL's bottom line....better to split the profits with him than to piss off everybody.....

this little one man operation somewhere arcoss the pond, no cares about....George knows he can have his way with him and there won't be any lasting price to pay.....

It seems that real-life 'Imperial Walkers' are just around the corner if this development is anything to go by! I wouldn't like to be an enemy if they start attaching weapons-fire to these babies. Imagine a horde of these things bounding 'bug-like' towards you, as it does at the end of the video...

Be amazed.

This has hardly anything to do with this thread. Please post stuff like this in the off topic thread....let's not clutter up Ady's "STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION" thread.

Ady,

Watched the purist edition. To be honest I guess I like your full version better.....the Adywan extended tie reveal and space battle is just too good and I missed that in the purist edition.....

I'm still not laughing at your cold British humor, *wink wink*.....I knew of course, or rather was hoping like mad that you were just joking.....damn, don't do that....it was just too damn scary. :)

Your hard work and dedication are inspiring....thank you Adywan.
