Hey Ady,

I'm somewhat of a lurker.  I just watched your latest clips and they are awesome.  I can't wait to see more.

I have full faith in what ever choices/changes you make to this.  ANH:R is now also cannon in my book.  I will watch that instead of my official dvd.

Exactly.

Some people complain about removing the completely unnessary Boba Fett from RotJ and have no problem removing the plot-centric Jar Jar Binks from TPM.  I guess its all a matter of taste.  Boba Fett is all insert shots in Jabba's palace, interacts with one person (and then only in the SE), then flies from Jabba's sail barge to a skiff, gets knocked off and dies.  How is that essential in any way, especially since everyone wants him to live anyway?

But that has nothing to do with ESB, so I'll drop it now.

I think you guys are missing the point. It isn't so much about Boba Fett than it is about Han Solo having a measure of revenge on Boba....

You are obviously not very computer savvy...Comcast does not block IE traffic....LMAO

Instead of being defensive about it you might want to take the opportunity and learn something....you clearly have something wrong with your computer.

There isn't a single ISP anywhere that blocks IE or any other broswer as far as I know....somebody prove me wrong.

No I just hate the fact that somebody says "the cave is collapsing" when it is extremely obvious that they are not in a cave.

its just one of those pet peeves I have with it is all

That somebody was Princess Leia. And she was clueless from the moment they entered the "cave"....However Han had his suspicions from the start and once he knew for sure what he was in he had to get fast.....he didn't have time to explain it to her, or to discuss it in committee....

I wanted to join in though!  My Britishness wouldn't let me.

That is funny.

I have lived the much of my life in the states, and I have never heard anything like that. Not that I go to the movies all that often though.

When I went opening day to see SW Ep1, I remember the cheers were quite loud once the movie started....it was erie quiet when the movie was over however....

Wolverine: X-men origins - Trailer

While i like Wolverine as a character i'm not sure they will do justice to his origins onscreen.

To me the mini series by Frank Miller and Chris Claremont which were done before Wolvie got his own comic series were the best.

Before the new X-men comic was launched that had him as a member of the team.

They got the Wolverine character in the films as close as humanly possible to the comics.  I totally buy the cigar chomping badass as he was portrayed in the x-men films.  This new movie Gets Gambit totally wrong though he looks metro and nothing like the guy who wears the trench coat and is a gambler, ladies man.

Well they messed that up in the X-men films anyways as Rogue was supposed to be Gambits girl, not Iceman.  Iceman would have been too old anyway not a teen.

That being said i would rather see X-men 4 or a redo of 3 that does justice to the first 2 films.

The second real trailer was much better than the comic con stuff, still i am getting an Incredible Hulk vibe from this and that is not good.  I mean Ang Lee's version too.

Another X-men film by Bryan Singer or just reboot the whole godamn thing since the films did zero justice to the comics for those who cared.  You know Cyclops character was ruined in the movies.  In fact the X-men trilogy could as easily been the Wolverine trilogy.

Even the actor they got to play Stryker in this film is all wrong.  I hate the way he reads his lines.

and an virtually unknown director.  The only thing they got right was the casting of Wolverine.

Well i know to comic book nerds an australian playing a canadian is bogus, but they will never be pleased with anything anyways.

Since the X-men first class went back to the classic Jack Kirby style i wonder if they would make a movie based on that. An X-men movie true to the spirit and look of the kirby books, would be fucking awesome!

Still they already ruined Silver Surfer and the fantastic four.  Some like the new take on Iron Man i still don't buy Downey as stark though.  I think the new Ironman is adequate.  I don't think it nails the comic as some seem to think, and i don't think it is the worst movie ever either.  Most of the Marvel adaptations are hit and miss.

DC got it right with Nolans take on Batman in Batman Begins.  And it works in Dark knight as well, i just don't want a dark superman because that is not what superman is.  Unless its alternate universe and Kingdom Come superman.   I would definetely pay to see that as a movie.

Don't even get me started on what JMS did to Spiderman, The killing off of Captain America and Batman= fail.

I still don't know what to think of Joss Whedon's take on X-men and how a movie based on that would be.

I used to be a fan, but lately I'm beginning to think that you might be extrememly lonely or something....seriously dude you are a major downer....don't you ever like anyhing? Fuck.

Building Empire - Miami Film Festival Edition is now being posted to alt.binaries.starwars. (Sorry about the lack of an NFO file, I didn't have time to write one.)

The ISO image was built directly from the PAL DVD that Jambe sent me; it came out at around 5.05GB in size. An MDS file is also included for the convenience of ImgBurn users. Burn the image to a DVD+R DL.

As JD mentioned previously, this edition differs from the original in that it includes certain fixes and corrections, as well as footage from the 'lost' 'Making of The Empire Strikes Back' documentary thanks to Darth Neo. The disc doesn't include any of the extras that were on the original release, it's simply the feature length doco with a one-button static menu.

I apologize, I'm a bit of a noob with some things, but what better way to learn, than to ask. How does one access alt.binaries.starwars to find the new Miami Film Festival Edition?

Blu-ray prices not coming down

Fang Zei said:

On the subject of people getting big-ass lcd's and plasmas with no HD content to play on them, just remember that back in the day unless you had a laserdisc player you weren't taking full advantage of your analog tv's capability, aside from what you got over antenna/cable/satellite of course. DVD finally changed that.

On the subject of blu-ray not being worth the upgrade over standard dvd, this is what comes to mind:

http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showpost.php?p=15081975&postcount=3

http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showpost.php?p=15081979&postcount=4

http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showpost.php?p=15081981&postcount=5

The problem? DVD still looks too damn good. I've seen what blu-ray looks like on a huge projector, but watching dvd on a nine-year old player hooked up to a 40 inch bravia is good enough for the time being. I just watched raiders (from the '03 set) last night and it looked fine as long as I wasn't sitting too close. The '04 star wars set looks so clear that it hurts (just reminding everyone why we're here:). Heck, back in '04 my friend's family got a 60 inch lcd and a bose system. DVD's look AMAZING on it! He's got like 600 discs and counting and is therefore in no rush to upgrade.

What I'm noticing about blu-ray is that with these new releases the price is only slightly (if at all) higher than the two-disc dvd, with the single disc dvd being a few dollars cheaper. There's probably a huge demographic of people like me who want their dvd's looking better than hardware they've been using since '99 can provide, and when the time comes to upgrade it'll be worth it to just get a BD player for a few extra bucks. Then all they'll have to do is start buying on the new format for the same price they'd be paying for the two-disc dvd. This is what will allow BD to take off imo.

Those DVD screen caps look like shit compared to the Blu-Ray.....

Well, I tried the newsgroup thing a while back when Adywan released the first AVCHD, and wasn't too impressed. Can we get a torrent of this going? Preferably an iso image like last time...

Yeah, downloading Adywan's release in 1.5 hours and not having to worry about some idiot changing the release for the torrent....yeah, you're right, what a pain...

Do yourself a favor and get the original release the way Adywan chooses to release it....via UseNet.
