So what should I try next? I need some suggestions, I like the above tweaks, at least better than the "as is" version, but I have not looked at other scenes yet either.

Take this tongue in cheek.....stop already, it looks great, ship it! :)

Seriously I think you are not going to see to much more without delving into a more involved color correcting process that you have already said you dont want to do....

I think it looks great and would be completely satisfied to have a copy on my hard drive.

STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 REVISITED ADYWAN *1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION
Time

What frustrates me about all this is I still don't have a million dollars or a pony....and I have been wishing it would happens for DAYS now! Damn It!

Personally I worry about the health and sanity of someone who stares at the same film footage day after day for years and still manages to keep a smile and a great outlook and attitude about everything. Adywan is our rock. :) TY buddy.

The idea that their monitors are a different class then the TVs in most people's homes, provides another wrinkle to how the films look different dependent upon the equipment you use.

The claim that ESB came out too blue because they were using better monitors is, frankly, laughable.

exactly. It's just more spin to try to make out there is nothing wrong with the colouring done on the 2004 set. Here's an example below that blows the "we were using better monitors" excuse right out of the water. Now nothing has been done to these two images. These frames are as they appear in the 2004 transfer:

Now how the hell can they say that the colour problems are sown to consumer monitors? Now, although these are 2 separate shots in the edited scene, you can see that they are originally one longer shot that was split for editing purposes. Now why would the colouring be so different if the colouring was correct? Do they have magical monitors that adjust the colours between shots so that everything looks perfect? No. And why was the first shot NEVER green in any other transfers of ESB that had ever been done? Do they really think that people are so dumb that they will believe that the set looks so bad because its the consumer equipment at fault? well to be honest yes, there are those who argue that the colours are perfect as its "George's true vision" and that Hoth should be completely blue because it's an ice planet etc. But what about those who have correctly calibrated monitors? Is this guy trying to say that Lucasfilm have the only monitors in the world that are correct? Bull.

I don't know how you are going to like or dis-like this suggestion Adywan, but even if you just did a color correction to the blu-rays once they came out and made that available, Im sure there would be quite a few shouts of admiration from the star wars fan community....

**720p HD version coming 2012**

Is this for real?

I mean, yes, it would be awesome to see this edit in HD, but - and I'm saying this with nothing but respect - haven't you done enough already? You work so hard, man. Perhaps even too hard. And there's still ROTJ (and maybe even PT) to make... I don't know. Seems a bit too much.

But you must do what you feel is right, of course. :) Either way - good luck

Where did you get that Adywan quote? Everything I've read, Adywn has said "no" he won't be doing a ANH:R in HD.

Here is a little something I have just been messing with, the V3 is the bottom video, the top, well you can see, been playin wit colors.

http://hotfile.com/dl/95139016/7a343a6/Comparison.rar.html

I have to admit, after messing with the colors like this it really shows how dul this really is, it really does look like it could use some color boost.

Another thought, wouldn't Luke have somewhat of a tan anyways living in the desert, and it would seem Han would to, but not Leia.

I like what you've done here...but its just a little much...perhaps what msycamore suggested would be just right? After seeing this thread and your comparison though DJ I do agree with everyone else that a slight subtle color enhancement would do the GOUT DJ V3 a world of good...

That's it, I'm leaving! First I try to butter up to you guys and you say I'm weak. Then I stand by my principles and you tell me I'm an idiot. I done talking to you guys. I'll tell you how I really think. There is nothing wrong with my posts. You guys are being picky a-holes. I didn't realize originaltrilogy is a gated community of snobs. I'm communicating through Adywan exclusively for now on.

Goodbye forever

PS: Don't bother private messaging me because I will never read it!

Zigfried! Is that you?!

It's interesting to read him say that it's a body double, if it is it's a very good match for Mark both facially and in terms of body language (It would also mean I would have to apologise to Vbangle who insists it's not Mark).

The footage in the meditation chamber looked like a composite to me as the helmet looks really glossy (as in the ROTJ style).

Does this mean that originally Vader was to address the Emperor from his booth in ESB (explaining his bow) and the hologram was later moved to outside the booth where he could kneel with more style?

No apology necessary. There is one more thing that strikes me as odd with that scene. And I am certainly no expert but that scene looks different to me that the rest of ROTJ. I mean it looks sharper or something, almost like it was shot digitally and not on film, which would make complete sense if this shot was only finished just recently. The sound track also seems like an add-on to me.

Go back and re-watch that scene and tell me if you think the quality and feel of the cinematics fit with the rest of the Jedi movie....I don't think so.

One more thing. Mark Hamill is lying. He was either lying before or after this scene was released.

I think he is lying after the fact. George needs him to lie, if he doesn't than George is screwed on this scene and would have wasted his money on a bombshell extra scene that would go a long way in selling a crap load of Star Wars Blu-Rays. Its all about the money to George and Mark has decided to support George's "vision".

Ady, can I ask why you needed a £250 odd GFX card ?

Wouldn't a GTX 460 or ATI 5770 for £120, have been more cost effective and sufficient?

Why does Adywan need to justify anything he does? What makes you think that Adywan would care at all about your opinion on how he spends HIS MONEY on HIS EDIT? YOU TWIT.
