What if, like, *sniff* you had a Rubik's Cube whose sides were infinitely large? How would you solve it?
If Rubik's cube infinitely large - possibility of living outside it = 0
Living inside = dependent variable
Else = Death
If living inside - Manipulating Rubik's Cube = Not applicable function user too small to accomplish task

Question then becomes how or why it would get into a state where it needs to be solved at all?

Natural out of production Rubik's Cube state is in solved format. Thus logic dictates no such creature would mix it up. Further should some supernatural creature, such as God, mix infinitely large Rubik's Cube. Logically they take on the task of solving the cube. Thus the problem is not ours to solve.

Which languages do you know now and how well?

I primarily feel comfortable saying I know ASL. Beyond that I know how to read a lot the languages listed. As in sound out what the sounds are.

Though Kanji and subsequently Chinese is most difficult to read as there's lots of 'em. Also there's multiple readings for each. It's also deceptive for Japanese to list one of the readings as the "chinese reading" when Japanese isn't a language where you have to worry about tones. So even if that's true for some of the characters you still got to remember the tone for each in Chinese. I think it's better to just think of that reading as another Japanese reading. Helps keep things sorted in my head anyway. I also don't give a damn about trying to remember which reading is the "onyomi" or the "kunyomi" or which one means "chinese reading". Too much crap to worry about in my opinion. I just do my best to try to remember the sounds in relation to that specific Kanji.

As for ability. Well here's a quick list.
ASL - My second language
Spanish - Italian - French - Portuguese - Kind of vary how much I understand from each. I'm at the point where I understand more than I can speak. I just need to put in more effort until I feel confident enough to say I know these languages.
Japanese - I know a fair amount of Japanese. Though my vocab is small. I can read Katakana and Hiragana. Still working on Kanji but I can recognize over 100. I stopped counting as it made it easier to just not worry about the number of Kanji I know.
Korean - I can read all of it already but my vocab is very small. I know some basics. But I can't easily type it I have my computer's IME set up for Korean already, I just need to practice it. Just FYI romanizations of Korean words are a real hindrance. If you're thinking of learning Korean learn how to read it first. Romanizations will hold you back.
Hebrew - I can read it but with difficulty. My vocab is pretty small. Most of what I know are the blessings and some conversational stuff.
Russian - I can read it mostly. Vocab small.
Chinese - Barely read it. Small Vocab.

Beyond this it's either really basic stuff or I haven't put enough effort into it to know more yet.

How are you going about learning them?
I wish I could say that I had some kind of grand master plan. I tried to make plan after plan after plan to learn all of them. They all got burned for one reason or another. Basically I change what I'm going to do based on the week. I either watch language vids on YT(and other sites), read books, write stuff, think about how to describe stuff in other languages every day. I also watch entertainment in other languages. Such as City Hunter which is a Korean Drama. The amount I do each day and if I watch some stuff varies depending on the day.

I'm most interested in how the next series will be. I know it's mostly rumors that the next series is going to happen but hey took long enough for series 10 to come out. So I'm gonna speculate about the next one. I like the Cat. Right now I'd have to say that I don't have a favourite series. The series 1 - 6 kind of blend together in a haze of like in my mind. One thing I hope the next series brings is an encounter with one of the Cat arks. Something to do more with the cats.

You might as well ask who is your favorite Talkie Toaster.

Aren't there three hollys? The nanobot created Holly, the Alternate universe Holly, and the main Holly who changes gender?

Personal Quest to Learn Over 20 Languages

So since there is further interest in my language learning here's the thread about it!

So this is basically a goal I've set in my life that may or may not be accomplished but even if I just get to intermediate level in several of them I'll be happy with that. So beyond ASL I'm very much below an advanced level. That's not to say I don't have further things to learn in ASL but I know enough to follow random ASL vids I've seen on the internet. Generally I just need to pay attention to understand. Anyways here's a list of some of the languages I plan to learn.

Hebrew
German
Avestan
Russian
French
Italian
Japanese
Korean
Chinese Mandarin
Chinese Cantonese
Irish Gaelic
Welsh
Thai
Latin
Klingon
Elvish(well if there is an entire language to learn from that)
Portuguese (Brazilian and Portugal)
Greek
Esperanto
Turkish
Eskimo
Konkani
Sanskrit
Arabic
Multani
Persian
Manx
Uriya
Icelandic

As an aside I've also memorized the majority of Narn and some bits of Minbari in Babylon 5. Centauri and Vorlon is just random text so nothing worth memorizing there. But yeah something like "Neh" is "no" in Minbari. "Nefreek" is "mindwalker" or telepath in Narn. They're not complete languages but I tended to remember those terms nonetheless.

Oh yeah and I can recognize some of morse code too.

As for why I'm doing this? Well, I just want to is all. Though with Russian I have a separate motive. It annoys me that I don't fully understand Russian. I can read it now(mostly) but yeah my small vocab annoys me. Until that annoyance goes away I won't stop learning it.

So yeah thread made. Questions, comments?

So, twister, you like languages with different alphabets? By "read" do you mean able to sound it out or understand all those languages? I've gotten the sounds of Russian letters down but my vocabulary is very very small.
I mean being able to sound it out. Though with Hebrew it's a bit more difficult as the majority of the texts available aren't printed with the vowels.... It's like reading an entire language through text speak. mgn tryng t ndrstnd ths. <- Imagine trying to understand this.

Anyways update, I'm almost there with Russian. I can now read about 90% of the characters. Just a little bit more effort and I'll be 100% err, probably 98% because I don't fully understand the whole "stresses" thing. So now the annoyance is that I have limited vocab in Russian.

Star Wars: Episode VII to be directed by J.J. Abrams **NON SPOILER THREAD**

It's not difficult to understand why people believe Abrams is getting itchy feet.  This is the guy who initially turned down the job, has refused to commit to the scheduled 2015 release, and has bitched about working in the UK (saying it was making him 'crazy').

These things don't exactly fill me full of confidence in him.
Could be a good thing. Lucas had nothing but trouble and discomfort while working on the original film and look how that turned out. He had no complaints on the set of the prequels and look how those turned out.

Not comparable. For one thing Star Wars was Lucas' film that he wanted to get out and get seen. Abrams working on Star Wars sequel, it's a film he didn't even want to work on in the first place. Right from the start the desires are different. Going through hardship on something that no matter what you just want it to be seen. Versus going through hardship on something you were goaded into working on. Disney is taking Abrams away from his family to work on the film. Lucas' wife was the one who ended up in the editing room with him.

It's different.

If you need to B*tch about something... this is the place

So recently I was going to get back into watching Dragon Ball z after finding a site that had all the episodes via streaming. It was great I watched the first few episodes in the original Japanese. Well that site got shut down. From what I can gather it was shut down by another site with more money. They simply didn't want any competition so they picked on other sites that were showing asian dramas. So I figure "fine whatever if they've got the rights to stream stuff I can see why they wouldn't want other sites that don't streaming the same stuff."

I went there to see if they have Dragon Ball z too. They don't. They don't even have any anime. From what I can see their selection of content is not even the same. So what happened is the equivalent of some random internet asshole flagging everything that they don't even have the rights to just because they want people to see his vlog. It's aggravating I mean if they were selling Dragon Boxes at reasonable prices I'd buy them. But close to 2,000 dollars now to obtain them, some possibly used, is way too much. Hulu has some episodes streaming but again that's only some. (No it wasn't Hulu who shut down the site I'm talking about.) Needless to say I'm upset. . . WHY DID THE DRAGON BOXES HAVE TO BE LIMITED!?!?!?! WHY!?!?!?!?!?!??!? WHY, WHY, WHY, WHY!?!?!?!?!?!?

I'm forcing myself to learn Russian. The alphabet feels like the uncanny valley in CGI. It's like it's visually close enough to english but there's enough differences that annoy my brain. I'm learning Russian to defeat that feeling to the ground. Though I like this part of the alphabet:

That letter's cool.

It's strange I can read Hiragana, Katagana, Hebrew, Korean, Greek, some Avestan, and a lot more fairly easily but for whatever reason my brain doesn't like the Russian alphabet. Well fuck that feeling I'm going to know how to read Russian easily soon by just putting in the effort. I do not like this uncanny valley feeling and I want to be rid of it.

Re: Walking Dead
I feel they shot themselves in the foot with the season 3 ending in that it pretty much wraps up the series. Seriously aside from 1 plot point in regards to 1 person everything is wrapped up. It's like how I felt after the 4th episode of the 4th series of Misfits. There's nothing cliffhanger-esque enough for me to feel like I would have to watch the next episode.
Really? I thought the way season three ended almost felt like it was cut off mid episode. It was pretty anti-climactic, and nothing from the season was resolved. In the comics, the events of the season three finale are a pretty big game changer moment in the series.

I wonder how close they'll follow the books following the wrapping up of the prison storyline. The nomadic nature of the next several storylines doesn't seem very conducive to television. With the way it is going, I half expect them to drag the governor stuff on until the end of season four, then end it there. Or choosing to stray in a completely different direction than the comics all together. Just about everything that happens following the prison prior to making it to the Alexandria Safe-Zone is a bit too extreme even for AMC anyway. I also wouldn't be surprised if they skip straight to the Alexandria Safe-Zone from the prison.

One thing I love about season one, is the ending is almost an adequate end to the series anyway. There are plenty of loose threads, but watching the survivors pile into the Winnebago and drive off into the distance after learning that the world is entirely screwed and no cure is on the way, was a pretty great ending. Given the mess that seasons two and three are, that is always going to be my end to the series.

Well to me anyway. I don't really see what's there that desperately needs to be wrapped up after the end of season 3.

I mean you find out what happened with Merle. You find out what happened with Morgan. In the end the survivors find a place to stay and if it ended there you could imagine that they fortify the place and just start living their lives. The only real loose thread is one guy who just got everyone to turn against him on the loose out there in zombie land. Really if it ended there it's easy to just imagine he got eaten by a bunch of zombies.

I don't know maybe you could tell me what exactly felt "cut off mid episode" because I didn't personally feel that. It felt like an end to the entire series. Come to think of it maybe I feel this way because I don't give a damn about that Phil guy. I don't care what he does on the show at all. They could replace him with a cardboard cut out and I'd actually be more interested. Since the actors would be forced to carry on conversations with a piece of cardboard and make it interesting.
