I think JMO is familiar with most of the details about all the popular prequel fanedits, if my memory is correct. This is almost definitely going to turn into a midichlorian conversation, by the way.

I don’t know if there is a consensus on favorites, but l8wrtr’s is indeed probably the best well known complete trilogy of very high quality. Around this forum in the last year or two, I would definitely say Hal’s have the most momentum and are preferred by many.

What about octorox’s edit how does his compare to hal’s and l8wrtr’s.

Not sure. I might take a look once people consider it finished and polished. As far as his cuts, you can take a look here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/179rtro9Lq-jwlEWSoYkd97yGME7UIMg1-SPRgJ8SDbs/edit

I like the idea, but it depends on whether the execution holds up.

Harmy's RETURN OF THE JEDI Despecialized Edition HD - V3.1

Just got finished watching it. Everything looks great! This one holds up much better than SW 2.5 and ESB 2.0. Excellent work! I did notice a little warping occasional damage when the 35mm footage was on screen, but it’s nothing that really detracts from the film. It would probably be better if I watched it on my TV rather than 1 foot away from my monitor though. I couldn’t spot the GOUT shot. Where is it at?

One note: if you’re counting the fireworks shot as warping, that’s what the original composite does for some reason.

I was browsing through the final mkv, checking out all the great 35mm footage. And I came across 1:52:51 and thought ‘oh geez, was there a recomp here and really only subpar footage available?’

But no, it’s just really bad BD footage! It really looks like a bootleg cam recording from a cinema, and has always looked like that (well, since the GOUT at least). 😃

Once again, great work, Harmy.

Harmy's STAR WARS Respecialized Edition '97 - AVCHD and MKV Released

Harmy has stated in the past when I asked that if somebody can supply him with good quality audio, he would be willing to do it. It’s been a while since he said that though so maybe his mind has changed.

On spleen there is now DTS audio with a sample 97SE synched video (low quality). So I think it’s a matter of having time to put it all together. Especially for Jedi, as some rotoscoping will be needed.

Previously, he used DJ’s sync for ANH, so it was a matter of waiting for the other two films to be done by someone. But now there’s the synchronization on myspleen, so no need to rely on another source or the attitude associated with said source.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE…when will you release it???

Please, please, please…just stop. It will be released soon enough.

Jeez. You’re all a welcoming bunch!

You’ll either leave in a week or stick around long enough to appreciate sarcasm directed at new rude/impatient members. 😃

We’re fairly welcoming to the good ones!

SAF1916 for example: welcome to the forum! Always interesting to hear from a brand new fan who finds the CGI as off as we do.

But I wanna see it!!! Argh!!! Do we know if the subtitle issue has been fixed from the Workprint? Leia/Bousche and Jabba’s lines.

The download instructions on tehparadox address this

Yes. I know. I’ve followed that for the Workprint. I was asking if it had been fixed for v2.5.

Pretty sure Harmy is going for “new and unimproved” so I wouldn’t get your hopes up

The missing subs are fixed. Pretty much anything anyone brought up in the forum is fixed. 😃

Neverar's A New Hope Technicolor Recreation (Final Version Released!)

I remember one person who was doing it thought that their work was pretty good, considering the time constraint, but that it looked much more uneven when seeing it a few years later. I have to think that their equipment was faulty.

That’s always been my assumption as well. They just had to have had miscalibrated monitors or something. The only other reason that makes sense is George’s possible input to make it look so strange. Just wouldn’t make sense for a reasonable person with good equipment.

I’m rendering ROTJ v2.5 right now - ETA 10hrs. But I made so many changes since the last workprint and the project file got so big and complicated that I’m sure when I watch it, I will find that I forgot to turn some layer on or off or something stupid like that and will probably have to re-render but I have everything else ready, so currently, the intended release date is this Sunday.

Crap. I’m giving Star Wars DE to my Dad for his birthday on Sunday. Are you sure you can’t make it Saturday?

Jeez, dude, really?

Harmy, it’s my dad’s birthday too. Can you fly to the States and hand deliver ROTJ 2.5 to him?

Harmy, my dad could beat up Frink’s dad. Do you think you could bake him a victory cake?
