One problem with mine was the audio syncing: notably while the admiral is mocking Vader’s religion

I just checked that point and they were both in sync. So I’m not sure what caused your problem, but I am pleased that it doesn’t appear to be an inherent problem of mkvtoolnix. 😄 But certainly yes makemkv beta will also perform the job wonderfully, and there are certain types of video streams that it handles better than mkvtoolnix when joining together from branching. But as this was an audio problem and not a video problem, and as x264 would be one of the best streams supported for joining, that’s unlikely to be the problem.

Whatever the problem was, it looks like kitt1987 had it too, and deleted his attempt.

Rathar scene effectively skipped.

Lol!

I like the idea. But it seems wrong to leave the silliest part of the movie out of the Ridiculous version. Is there anyway to make the Rathars Kanjiklub?

You would have to extract the files from the iso, replace one of the m2ts files then create a new iso or burn the folder. So, the disadvantage is that you have to do a little work to make it happen, but the major advantage is that you don’t have to re-download 40 GB.

After doing that, should it work as-is or does it need to be rebuilt in some way (multiavchd, bdedit, bdrb, etc)?

I took a look at the documentary. Despite having some scenes in Jabba’s lair and the sail barge, there don’t seem to be any subs.

Did anyone happen to catch any of the 97SE theatrical showings that happened in the last year? Again, I’m betting on the subs matching ANH just because they were produced simultaneously. But who knows.

Thanks for the info. The original description stated there may be video glitches so perhaps the uploader decided to pull it down.

Seems likely, then.

Unstarring it is an interesting choice, if they did that. That means that whomever is still leeching it while at work, etc, might have the 38 gigs of a broken download affect their ratio, though the torrent they clicked on was for a working download that does not affect their ratio.

Was checking out the 'Spleen earlier and someone had put up an MKV with 5.1 audio, but it has already been taken down. Any chance that was someone here and if so will it be up on a.b.sw anytime soon?

(Please unstar and disable this torrent; huge technical problems.)

Is the reason stated. The mods just copy and paste it from the message they get. So I guess the question is whether it was from the uploader or Mr. Sunshine.

Nitpicking over tiny details is kind of what we do here. 😃

It’s meant to be the main/best presentation of the version of the films, at least until someone attempt s a 35mm presentation. So, might as well try to do it right.

They didn’t say they were holding anything back. They said it was time to work on it so they asked if anyone had references.

I do appreciate the work he has done. Especially getting the ball rolling, initially, when people were telling him he was full of shit. But other aspects are indeed “disasters”, and I don’t agree that his work is a free pass for his behavior (nor should anyone’s be).

MikeV and Poita do indeed have scans of the print. I thought I knew the order of events as far as the scanning of it (and other prints), but I’ve heard a few variations now so I don’t know what the specifics/origins are.

I’m indifferent as to the whole Mike/technicolor thing at this point. Whatever happened, it seems like it was a complete mess on both sides and escalated into silliness. Hell, I agree with negative1 that it sucks that the torrent was removed from myspleen.

But no, the issues with him obviously went on long before that and continue through yesterday. Even williarob called it a “PR disaster” of a post, so I don’t know why Valeyard felt the need to support it and demand apologies based on it, but whatever.

I’m sure the vast majority of people here don’t see a need for continued issues with this person. I’ll bet if he simply showed up using his own account and said, “Hey. Sorry, once I realized how big this project was becoming, I got freaked out about people knowing my identity and did a bunch of weird stuff like pretend I was someone else and, previously, that I was a big group of people. And tried to have my threads and releases removed out of spite resulting from all this. My bad.” everyone would welcome him back with open arms.

Oh and @Williarob - NOOO! You removed the sacred burn marks!! 😦 I guess I’ll have to make my own version.

The Tantive marks? Yeah, sorry, I have no nostalgia for them. There are smaller brown marks like that throughout the film and I did my best to remove them all.

If you meant the Reel Change marks, they are still there. Only the “home made” white blotches (made with Tippex/Whiteout?) got removed.

The one in your example image looked like someone punched a hole with a pencil. Glad it’s fixed!

based on an original pre-Special Edition 35mm print, but in light of the media circus, eccentric leadership, inter-group squabbles and subsequent break-up; few expected them to actually deliver. However, deliver they did!

That’s a cute touch. 😃

Here’s the thread. He asked for some 97SE Jedi sources quite a few times, but I don’t think he ever got them. Maybe Catbus will be aware of any Jedi SE frame scan that has been posted here. If we have anything, it’s probably from an ebay auction.

If you don’t end up finding something, going with what you did for ANH might be a safe bet, as they came out 5 weeks apart from one another.

I looked around for some images but couldn’t find any. I know a few people now have prints and scans of ANH-97 but I can’t say with certainty that there are any RoTJ97 scans in the community at this point. The few times I’ve asked, people have said it hasn’t been done yet (though prints have popped up for sale a few times).

Any idea what the context could have been when it was discussed?

I signed up for a one week unlimited free trial (that doesn’t even require you give your credit card information) from http://www.pureusenet.nl/en, and I downloaded the free usenet client SABnzbd. With that, I was able to download this whole thing in about an hour with an average speed of around 10 Mbps without paying a cent.

I found the exact same trial! downloading now. Try these:

I think the issue with myspleen, specifically, is due to the site removing a preview of his because it allegedly contained scans he didn’t have permission to use. I don’t think he is opposed to the release itself.

Obviously, this is just my interpretation as he has not made any attempt to clarify his intentions. However, his deletion spree began right after that preview was removed. He is temporarily “allowing” this one so long as no one attempts to discuss behind the scenes aspects in the myspleen comment section.

It’s so funny. “I have nothing to do with this.” “Also, I’ll have it taken down”. “Also, Rogue 1 is negative 1” “Also, rogue 1 has nothing to do with this account” “also, I’m someone you’ve never heard of who isn’t involved but has final say but isn’t negative 1 but somehow I’m on his personal account”. It’s self parody at this point.
