It's interesting what Mike said about the danger of releasing the Legacy edition. It's as if Lucasfilm have been keeping an eye on the fan restorations up to now but generally letting them pass.

Legacy seems to be a unique case. From what I can tell, Mike knows or is in contact with people at Lucasfilm and folks who worked on the original SW, and he has discussed Legacy with them. He also has had access to archive materials (at some point, at least).

I'm sure the overall quality of Mike's work indeed makes it more of a commercial concern. But as far as awareness of the project goes, it seems like he directly told the people who would be in a position to caution him.

Request: can someone do a fanedit of the Predator using the original blu ray as a source? the ultimate hunter edition sucks.

sorry if i posted in the wrong place i did it by mistake.

This is the section where you ask for help for your own Predator edit that you're making. Feel free to ask any specific questions on how to accomplish your task.

For a first step: If I recall, you still need to buy a bluray PC drive. Maybe we can help you find a nice affordable one that is still of decent quality. Even better, if it has BD-R capability you can burn yourself a nice copy of your edit once it's finished, print out a label, and put it on your shelf.

But isn't it the point that Fox has the distribution rights still?

What is actually known about this, publicly?

Does it simply mean that Fox will continue to get a cut of home video sales? Does it mean that they could veto plans for certain home video releases, or that indeed all those plans must run through Fox? Does it mean that Fox could continue producing different box sets without much of Disney's approval over the content (this one sounds unlikely)? What about other non-theatrical features on the discs? Who has a say regarding usage of that footage? What about online streaming options for the films?

ps: your Gomez/Ainley mashup is creepy and great.

Harmy's STAR WARS Despecialized Edition HD - V2.7 - MKV (Released)

Thanks for the info. When I search Harmy, I just see a lot of requests, so I may be in the wrong place.

I also searched Harmy under board index, but didn't see any paths to live seeds.

I just requested an invite yesterday, so it might be that I have not received the official invitation and need that to see what you're seeing.

Much appreciated. Cheers.

The forum part of the site and the torrent part are actually separate. Not immediately obvious how that works until you're on both.

Hi¡ Is there a version of the movie with the 1983 scenes but the 1997 Ending/Celebration with the changed music? I prefer the originals, but i grew up with the Special Edition Celebration Music and an hybrid versión would be epic, with only Endor footage and Sebastian Shaw but with the 1997 music.

You would have to make it yourself.

No he wouldn't.  Everything Alderaan94 described is in KK650's Semi-Specialized Edition. (Available on the usual paradoxical site)

He didn't mention wanting the beaked Sarlacc. I just assumed he didn't.

True. But that was just based on a few concept art images. I imagine they would gear what they show to shareholders to be the more modern and, as they say, video game like aspects rather than the retro qualities that may hopefully be present as well. The people reporting from the meeting also said that the people/soldiers in the images had no qualities that really made them discernible from one another. These scenes might not represent the bulk of the movie.

I don't have too much faith in the standalones being good. They'll probably get less of the care and concern that folks like us are interested in, compared to the ST. But I'll wait until we get a bit more news about completely giving up on them.

You would have to make it yourself. Generally the case with hybrid interests since no 2 people will ever have the same exact preference. Either way, this thread is for a complete despecialized version. Harmy's will be the best source for you if you make such an edit, though.

This is probably about rogue squadron, right? Of course the title could be more simple than it sounds - i.e. Han Solo is a "rogue one" - but I'd imagine that's not the case.

They've announced now that it's a history of Rogue Squadron.

I wonder when it will take place. Directly before or after the original film would be cool.

I'm so glad it's not an Adventure In the Dayz of Young Han Solo film. Fingers crossed that it's not the plan for any other spinoffs, either.

Boba Fett is overrated, but I'd much prefer a movie about him than ruining Han. I'd watch a Lemmiwinks-esque escape from the Sarlacc stomach with his new friend Catattafish.

It's probably nothing, but is anyone else curious about the word choice there?

Well where are the bodies? Who can prove they didn't escape the explosion? Many would hope they did - and so the rumors spread. Some would even take advantage of the situation and become shadowy impostors.

Right. I don't think they're setting up the return of either of those characters in the form of a blurb about a book.

Rather, I think they'll deal with the point that their deaths really aren't confirmed. Within the empire, there will probably be those keeping the faith and others determined to take control.

20 new books and comics out this fall to bridge the gap between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens.

Sounds like fun!

 Summary posted for Aftermath:

The second Death Star is destroyed. The Emperor and his powerful enforcer, Darth Vader, are rumored to be dead. The Galactic Empire is in chaos.

Across the galaxy, some systems celebrate, while in others Imperial factions tighten their grip. Optimism and fear reign side by side.

And while the Rebel Alliance engages the fractured forces of the Empire, a lone Rebel scout uncovers a secret Imperial meeting…

Star Wars OT & 1997 Special Edition - Various Projects Info (Released)

Ah, right.

It too had been run through avisynth scripts to stabilize it and improve the aliasing problems. The color may have been adjusted, but the profile looks more like GOUT. They're 16:9. Obviously no detail gained there, as they're from non-anamorphic sources, but it displays properly without doing things like zooming/cropping on your playback software or TV.

I also recall there being dirt/glue cleanup, but I'm not 100% sure. Someone who knows what they're talking about can probably come by and give you a better answer than mine.

Princess Leia #1

...the idea that the Empire is now rounding up all surviving Alderaanians is a bit of a stretch. I can understand that there'd be concerns over fomenting thoughts of revenge but to act so swiftly to start rounding them up a day after the destruction of the planet is...questionable.

I did, however, like the concern about the fate of Alderaaninan culture and about Leia's composure, even if I'm quite on the fence about the new character who epitomizes these things as well as the constant "Ice Princess"ing.

Thanks Danfun128, but I haven't been able to find Project Blu of ANH on public sites.

Anyway, what's the difference between SW Trilogy V3 versions from this topic and GOUT? More audio tracks available? Is video quality the same or has it been fixed/upscaled/upgraded?

I can't really answer as far as what they did, technically. I think there might be a few details scattered throughout the thread. But it's upscaled and the video quality is certainly improved with the bluray release as opposed to V3. V3 looks like a nicely cleaned up anamorphic version derived from GOUT. An improved GOUT. Perhaps it looks like what they *should* have released in 2006 if they were determined to use the LD masters.

The blu release has some nifty filters applied that really sharpens up the image. For many shots it's almost impossible to believe that it's GOUT sourced. While the V3 colors, from what I remember, looked just like the GOUT, the Blu is slightly adjusted (at least in brightness/contrast).

The only downside to the Blu release is the digital graininess present at times, which is to be expected given the source. The first time I viewed the release, on a 1080p laptop, I thought this was quite noticeable. I've since watched it on a 720p CCFL television, and it wasn't as noticeable. It looked good enough to probably fool someone who didn't know better as an official 480p anamorphic release. Certainly the best version of Star Wars derived solely from a home video OOT source.
