Well, indeed, this week’s announcement was not Web of Fear, but the beginning of the collected classic seasons blu-ray range. First up:

Twenty episodes, specially restored for Blu-Ray and packed with new and old special features. Build your own archive of classic Doctor Who seasons with this six-disc special ‘limited edition packaging’ boxset.

Existing Extras
Existing bonus material from the original DVD’s

Brand New Bonus Features

And it’s hard to say what else, because we don’t have the digital copy. The DVD came only a few months later. It had the hand change of the digital version, and no one knows which others.

No one knows about the speeders in the digital, because of course no one would have made note of that (as they did the hand). The dialogue changes would have also likely been noted had they been made by that point.

Steve Roberts said “It contains two BBC Colour Film labels, two BBC Separate Magnetic Soundtrack labels (one of each as a spare) and two pieces of clear adhesive film to go over them. It’s to put a Blakes 7 insert film and mag in”

So yes, just Paul having a laugh at the fans.

Paul has explained it is nothing.

His explanation doesn’t really make much sense (i.e., he doesn’t show the blue in the can, and why the underground?).

But, he knew what he was doing. As I said in the first post, it’s either good news or he’s intentionally winding us up. We will see on Thursday, when Doctor Who Magazine makes their upcoming DVD announcement.

Is version 3 going to be created using scans of 35mm prints? Or is it derived from the official blu-ray like previous versions?

This project will always have a blu-ray (or highest quality available) backbone.

Ah. So version 3 will have fairly similar colour timing to the previous versions?

The color will be redone as far as I understand. But it will be similar in the sense that it will won’t look like the blu-ray.

I apologize for my statements. Tone is impossible to tell online.

It’s fine. I’m not familiar with the writing section of the forum, so I don’t know what it’s actually like there. But maybe you will find it helpful. I would imagine constructive feedback on writing is what they’re into.

Last comment on this and then let’s close this topic and move on to making serious suggestions.

Even if anyone were to attempt creating a fanfilm scene like this or for any other edit, it’d cost money in the possible thousands to get/make props, the necessary materials to build a set, filming equipment, a professional crew that knows how to film it the proper way, and getting someone to portray Vader and Admiral Piet.

Taking that into account, do you think it’ll be easier for someone who’s had to ask for donation drives as a last resort? Even though you understandably want your suggestion put out there, it all comes down to if you end up seeing it on the change list on the first page.

Thank you for being the ONLY person who has not attacked my scene.

Yeah, that’s not what happened.

There’s no explanation needed for a lack of response regarding Vader’s unmasked appearance. If ESB ended with Luke saying, “Sure. I’ll join up”, and then they go out for tea, then yes, some kind of reaction shot (I think a double take, followed by, “Bwaaaa?” would be best).

But his concern is entirely on his ailing/dying father at that point, not something superficial like his appearance.

I made this scene quite a few years ago and thought it was a cool concept. The fact that almost all of you have shown it nothing but vitriol in a thread designated to an alternate version of the SEs. You are all hypocrites and should be ashamed of yourselves for thinking that one idea is “superfluous” when the very idea of changing the original versions is something a lot of us see as blasphemy.

Everyone was perfectly nice to you. Especially for this site, and especially for anywhere on the internet. But I guess we’re done with that, now.

I don’t know if anything similar has been suggested, yet.

LUKE
But you’ll die.

VADER
Nothing can stop that now. Just for once… let me look on you with my
own eyes.

…

LEO’s voice
Haven’t I always been a good uncle?

LUKE
No. You’re coming with me. I can’t leave you here. I’ve got to save
you.

LEO’s Voice
Come on! I’m an old man. I’m confused! What’s my name? Will you take me home?

Maybe a bit extreme but I do like the idea of telling the whole plot.

I think my end credit idea is a bit much. But I do like the crawl basically taking us to the final shot. And then maybe just a, “Previously” caption on whatever you do next.

In any case, you’d need a good way to end the gag.

Still struggling to come up with a good crawl idea (anyone got something please speak up). But this was fun to see.

Keep the real crawl, itself.

And then keep it going, and going. Tell the entire plot of the film. Maybe 3x longer than normal (or even longer). Pan down from the star field, through a bit of atmosphere, and onto the closing shot of the film. Iris wipe to the end credits.

Show a bit of credits, run them off the screen and pan down from those stars to however Revenge of the Sith actually starts.

(Can you tell I watched too much Monty Python, growing up?)

You could have all just said something constructive instead of destructive about my scene idea. It’s much easier to be kind than it is to not be kind.

For the most part, people are just commenting about how it’s not at all appropriate for this kind of edit. As for the content, I only skimmed it.

The first question you got was: why? Do you think this adds to the film, aside from putting your stamp on it perhaps?

The second was: how? No one here, on any project that I’m aware of, is filming entire scenes of the original trilogy to this extent, with new voice work of main, existing characters and everything. This is well outside of the technical scope of every ambitious project on the site, and it doesn’t even seem to have a clear reason for being made, from what you’ve said.

But I think the most appropriate place here for that kind of thing is probably indeed the script writing and re-writing area. Maybe people could have been more polite (I didn’t think anything was that bad), but no one in this thread should probably be giving you feedback on the writing itself, anyway. Constructive, destructive, or otherwise.

Yeah he posted in the Army of Darkness versions thread about the same thing JMO filled my fanedit thread with, among the other consistencies.

I love when he makes a new account and immediately demands Jay and Silent Bob related material. I mean, I appreciate some of Kevin Smith’s stuff, but there is exactly one person on the planet begging for a preservation of theatrical color timing of Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. 😃

1997 Special Edition Audio Mixes, GOUT-Synced (Released)
Time

I have included a slightly editorialized version of The Empire Strikes Back’s audio which keeps Luke’s line, "You’re lucky you don’t taste very good,” and removes his scream as he falls through the Cloud City shaft. For many, these are the two elements of the 1997 mix of Empire that are not easily stomached.
This alternate version is labelled as “Custom Version” and the version without these editorial changes is labelled as “’97 Purist Version.” (Purist in the sense that it does not take the liberty of deviating from the 1997 mix in these two instances when nothing visual prompts it.)

Interesting project! What is the status of the “Bring my shuttle” vs. “Alert my Star Destroyer to prepare for my arrival” line in this project? That’s something else that I might expect to vary in a purist vs. custom version, though I suspect few would complain if both versions had “Bring my shuttle”.

I like the second idea. Or even, as the very first words out of their mouths toward each other (cuts indicated by []):

Darth Vader [] betrayed and murdered your father.

You told me Vader betrayed and murdered my father.

Your father [] became Darth Vader. Your father [] betrayed and murdered your father. So what I have told you was true… from a certain point of view.

Edit: Followup (wrong thread) -

Obi-Wan never told you what happened to your father.

I know, father.

No. I am yo-

I KNOW, I KNOW! [from R2 X-wing scene]
