Star Wars: REBORN - The Complete Saga (* unfinished project *)
Time
The bar scene will be very much in the spirit of Trooperman's cut. We have talked with him and he gave his blessing. :)

Music changes are still being decided on a scene by scene basis. Right now we have added or changed music to mostly prequel scenes. I can only think of one scene from the ot that we have changed the music too and the last time we discussed that we were talking about changing it back.

Sadly enough alot of the changes are dictated by our abilities to do certain things. If only I had a clean dialogue track with no music the possibilities would be endless.

Just to give you an idea of how long this is taking. I am 2:05 into the speeder chase scene from aotc. This has taken me approximately three weeks to get this far and the hardest part is yet to come.

If anyone has any more questions please don't hesitate to ask. I'm off to find a sound effect for Anakin's speeder as it zooms by camera.

Star Wars: REBORN - The Complete Saga (* unfinished project *)

Hello Everybody,

Just wanted to let everybody know we are still here and work continues. The last few weeks have been good to us. Several things have come together really well.

I'm in the process of rebuilding the soundtrack (in 5.1) for the scene where Obi-wan and Anakin chase Zam through coruscant. InfoDroid decided to use different music behind that scene which led us to throwing the soundtrack away and starting over.

ID is editing the bar scene I believe and trying to come up with a rough cut for the first half of the movie. Were splitting the first movie into two parts, roughly 1 1/2 hours each.

I wish I had more time to devote to it, but real life often gets in the way. Some weeks I have alot of time to spend on it and other weeks none at all. Last week was a good week , I had alot of free time to work on the soundtrack and made it 30 seconds into the scene!! A whole week's work for 30 seconds!

Anyway that's where we are. Not very exciting I know, but better than nothing right?

About posting clips: We are going to post two more clips and their going to be roughly 1 1/2 hours long. :)

Clean Original Trilogy Audio/Dialogue - Where? How?
Time
I'm no expert, and surely someone must have thought of this but what about combining to mono, then using a low and a high pass filter - remove anything outside of the range of the voice?

I don't claim to be an expert either, but I've tried that as well. Look at most music on an equalizer of some sort and the most energy is in the mid-range. Infodroid and I had decent results a couple of times by masking the music with different music , but in the same key. Alot of trial and error.

If you separate out the channels from the 5.1 mix on the DVD, how much of the music/effects still remains in the centre channel?

Depends on the scene, but alot more than you would think. Some scenes you can get by with it. The one scene that comes to mind is when Anakin leaves home, more music in the center channel than dialogue. The possibilities if we could only get a clean dialogue track!!

Link for Mace/Palp duel: Rebornduel1

A little background. This scene opens Return of the Jedi. We used a little bit of the original dialogue, but scraped the rest of the soundtrack and
re-built it from the ground up so we could change the music. Steve layed in all the effects for the duel and Anakin's speeder. I then went back and tried to make a 5.1 soundtrack out of it. This was much harder than either one of us anticipated and I don't ever want to do it again!!

Anyway, it's not completely done yet. I still have some effects to put in, footsteps, etc, etc. The video is encoded at a low bitrate to ensure I could upload it in a reasonable amount of time. It has also been re-edited to make the duel faster paced than before.

The link is a rar file that contains the vob's for burning to dvd or playing back with your favorite dvd software.

That's all I have for now, I'm sure Steve will chime in later.........

I think I can speak for ID on this matter, and there will not be a ANH trailer. It would take too much time from working on the actual project.

With that being said I do have some good news to report. The clip of the mace/palp duel is rendering as I type this and will be uploaded tomorrow. I'll post more about the clip after I upload it.

STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 REVISITED ADYWAN *1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION
Time
Just watched the clip. Sounds good, but I think I'll need the entire movie to really form an opinion.

Joking aside, it sounded great!! I can't really think of anything I would change. As some of you may remember Infodroid and I rebuilt the soundtrack for the mace/palp duel in ROTS, which sadly will never see the light of day now

Anyway, I know how hard it is to build the soundtrack from scratch and get all the levels right. Excellent work!!

To comment on other things, I was suprised how clean the video was and the color correction is great. For reference, I watched the clip on my 8ft wide screen with a Panasonic LCD front projector, Denon 5.1 receiver and Boston Acoustic speakers.
