Your idea relies too much on the audience knowing the original film.

Yeah, I would never take a pronounceable acronym and continue saying each letter individually after it's been incorporated into a word like avisynth.

Over saturated visual eye-sore like films like 'The Kings Speech', 'Skyfall' etc will date very quickly.
I certainly hope "films with more than two colors" isn't a description used in history books to describe how films from the latter twentieth century are visually unique...
Here's something I made,
The top two screenshots are from 2012's cutting edge digitally graded 'Skyfall, the bottom two are from colour-tinted silent films made almost 100 years ago when film was in it's infancy:
...or is that the other way around?
Let's hope films start looking like this again, sooner rather than later:
Also I did this GODFATHER 2013!!:
OH Yes! It's sooo much better!
(Rant over)
Okay.
That was fantastic. So good to see it all put in one feature like that!
In which Orci outs Lindelof as being the pro-Khan push
Let the OT.com-Lindelof-hate-fest continue...

How is Starfleet more militaristic than in any of the older films?
See: Any film where they're in the red uniforms, but especially the central conflict of ST:VI:TUC

Ah, gotcha. Not sure how I misread that.
But seriously, Insurrection and Nemesis are both far better than the J. J. stuff. Insurrection actually has a story, which is something I noticed movies don't necessarily have to have anymore. Nemesis had somethings I liked about it, more I didn't, you're not missing anything.
As a person who watched part of Insurrection, I remain unconvinced.

I've seen only two ST films focusing on the TNG characters (Generations and First Contact)Why haven't you seen Generations or First Contact.
What we have here is a failure to communicate.

Well this is no way to discuss things on a forum.
Oh look at those Obi & Luke post-Tuksen-attack colors.

Another quandary...When theaters played the movies in the day, how does one determine, or even know, what equipment was used to display said movie in said theater? Was there only one professional projector used for every theater in this, and other lands? If a certain projector used a certain type of bulb, or other piece of equipment, could that have tainted the way the filmed look in any way? Is it possible that the screen itself could have displayed the image differently from one theater to another?
Yes. Approximation, average and compromises must be found, but correcting for a typical 70s bulb is definitely necessary.
Yup, check your PMs.

And Spock may not have undergone Pon Farr yet...
wouldn't his relationship with Uhura prevent Pon Farr?

The dramatic tension of Kirk's sacrifice is slightly deflated, because the audience has already been told Khan's got magical healing blood. (Which is apparently unknown to 23rd century medicine, and none of Khan's frozen comrades seem to have.) You can see the resolution coming a light year away.
really?? cause I didn't. Yeah you see Khan using his blood to heal the girl, but SHE WASN'T DEAD, and Kirk was. When Kirk died, I honestly thought the next movie as going to be "The Search for Kirk".
Did you read what I wrote? THE GIRL WAS NOT DEAD. Kirk was dead.
If Kirk had lay dying in sickbay of some sort of incurable illness, then it would be clear that Khan's blood was going to heal him. But was it clear that Khan's blood could bring something back to life? No. And, as I said before, I was not expecting it.
Yes, I read what you wrote. It was still telegraphed well ahead of time Khan's blood was important somehow, especially since it's something never talked about in either Space Seed or TWOK.
that Khan's blood was important? yes. That Khan's blood could heal the sick? yes. That Khan's blood could bring the dead back to life? no.
Maybe it was predictable, but I for one did not predict it.
That's why they showed McCoy and the necrotic (they used that word) tribble.
Yeah, I think at this point is is best to admit (and I am glad we've reached this point) that canon is forever loosey-goosey.

There's a bit of Goldsmith at 1:46, back to ST09 at 2:25, and then the bit I noticed in theaters at 2:38...but I'm not even sure that particular line was heard until TNG.
EDIT: I'm stupid and couldn't remember how the Original Series theme started. Never Mind. Wow.
But that is Goldsmith at 1:46, right? right?

Funny how the beginning and end feel more like classic Trek than the middle part
I had the exact same feeling, and just wanted to watch them go through their five year mission.
Although I thought it was interesting that they used the "bum bum bummm" horns in the final scene. Wasn't that theme introduced in TMP?

From The Art of Ralph McQuarrie: pg.297
Quote:"In 1995, I was asked to work on a book titled The Illustrated Star Wars Universe. I really wasn't sure if I could do it, because I was sort of through with Star Wars. I looked at some of the things I didn't gt a chance to do during the films that I thought I could finally complete, and I signed up for it. It was really quite a pleasure. These are a few of my favorite paintings from that book.
The "Jawa swap-meet on Tatooine" is the second of the images shown.
Well! Thank you for that.
Given that DSLRs give good image quality, and they don't need to record the sound...why not?
So they want the aesthetics of McQuarrie with the colors of ANH? So far, so good.
I didn't think the paintings in that book were made for that book?
I have to say, Lindelof really did reuse the ending of Lost in this film.
I'm not sure how they had time to get all those cryotubes out of the torpedoes.
I'm not sure how a torpedo would work when most of it seemed to be taken up by a cryotube.
The TWOK parallels became too heavy. The scream was really dumb.
Why couldn't they just use some other superman's blood to heal Kirk? Yes, Spock needs to catch Khan, but it doesn't seem like "the only way to save Kirk".
Otherwise, I liked it.

What about using photos from the set as reference?
Photos from the set often have different lighting and do not have any sort of color grading applied. They're incredibly inaccurate to the look of the actual film at times.

4 years of waiting all in vain. Now very very worried about Star Wars VII.
Different writers. Was it a well-directed film, aside from its script?
