Oh, really? So when Joseph Stalin died in 1953, the USSR just fell apart within a couple of years, did it? Or do you think that if Hitler was killed in say 1941, the National Socialists would have just called it a day and capitulated? (Without Hitler's egomania, they may actually have had a better chance at winning the war). Or you can go even further back; When Caesar was murdered, was the Roman Republic automatically restored?

Re: Stalin: he didn't found the Soviet Union, and the post-Stalin USSR was very different (de-Stalinization took place).

Am I the only one who understands how the Empire died with Palpatine in ROTJ?

Do you want to explain that? Because the EU perspective of a bureaucracy and military so large that it can function without its head for a long time is pretty convincing. It's not like Palpatine invented the Empire; he just militarized the existing government, and that military (and cultural change) don't disappear overnight.

at last all the production notes from the original trilogy :-)

all the production notes? Hah. I doubt that. Where does it say that?

Also, why did you post this in the ESB:R thread? Not relevant!

Yeah, no one's going to like that idea round these parts. Especially not adywan who I believe has already said he won't do it (though I might be making this up - either way he won't be doing it I'm sure).

Hey! Logical person! We don't take kindly to people who use logic round here!

It's only logical if you accept the PT as canon for Revisited.

Replace Palpatine's ROTJ advisors with Sly Moore and Mas Amedda.

Show what happened to the Empire at the end of ROTJ.

Just curious: have all 6 movies been color-corrected?

I think the ROTJ advisers ought to remain human. We never see any other non humans working for the Empire. I think adding any in would undermine the whole xenophobic, human-only "master race" vibe, which makes the Empire and the Emperor seem as evil as they do.

I really think there's room for them to be added. But never at the sacrifice of any of the grumpy dudes.

At the risk of sounding more stupid than usual...what's a linefeed?

US-ASCII (and character-sets derived from it, including Latin-1 and UTF-8) have two character-codes that signify "move to the next line":

10: Line Feed, a.k.a., New Line

13: Carriage Return

http://www.asciitable.com/index/asciifull.gif

*n*x systems (e.g., GNU/Linux) use a single Line Feed to represent newlines. Classic pre-OSX Mac systems used a single Carriage Return to represent newlines. Microsoft systems (e.g., MS-DOS and Windows) use a Carriage Return followed by a Line Feed to represent newlines.

These terms come from the typewriter days of old...

Carriage Return -> return the carriage to the start position

Line Feed -> move to the next line on the paper

And, I would think, carried over because dot-matrix printers are just like that.
