Why don't we put a search box in the corner that just does that?

If Lucas was going to nitpick the framing of shots 17 years later, maybe he shouldn't have hired a director and just done it himself to begin with. That's disrespectful to Kershner's original vision of the film HE directed.
Absolute power corrupts absolutely.
Only a Sith deals in absolutes.

The new protagonist ship looks like another take on the Millennium Falcon like the Outrider from Shadows of the Empire.
It really looks like the Otana from X-Wing:Alliance

Note the chair on the right...
What, the chair that says "CAST"?

I guess it's allright as long as you fear this stormtrooper.
I actually see what you mean here.
Or even if you don't see how obvious the scale issues are in this image
No, that seems fine to me?
Even here, while a classic angle from the movies, it's completely unjustified for a 3d animation series. I can understand there were issues with the perspective back in the 80's that made them force it in order to have an easier composition, but it's not the case today, and it's completely wrong to still have the TIE fighters be so big next to a cruiser.
Given that, once animated, it'll be in motion, I don't understand your issue here.

Damn those last few screenshots make me so mad!
It isn't just the cropping, it's the messing with Kershner's perfectly composed shots. When there is a shot of Lando mucking about with some Falcon panels, why would you crop out half the panels?
(ESB:R recolouring looks gorgeous btw)
I completely agree - every frame of this film is masterful composition. Breaking the 4th wall? I completely disagree - it's the inside border of the cockpit (?!), and with the composition intact, it in fact feels more cramped than the cropped shot, because uncropped we can better see the round shape of the cockpit. Oh, and it should go without saying that this is MY OPINION...
Yes, we're discussing each other's opinions. I hope you don't think "opinion" means we can't criticize it.
Also I agree.

Really, prefer the edgy style of TCW to this childish lego-like curves they've put to every ship and design
Could you show us, with screencaps, these childish curves?
Luke's saber in ROTJ should change color constantly. A rainbow saber.
No that's a great idea. I don't even feel like the third wall has been broken.
Thank you, 005.
I dunno, all this talk of Hoth, Tatooine and AT-ATs worries me. I'm pretty sure those films were already made?
Do you like fish sticks?
I don't see how it's any more "like a set" than the cropped one. "Inside" vs "Outside" the cockpit is bogus, as a camera could easily fit inside the cockpit for both shots, and a human viewer could sit in that location for neither shot.
Perhaps it was done to hide Kershner's decision to build the cockpit set larger for ESB. He did this specifically to fit everyone better inside the frame...which the cropping undoes.
I don't see how this would be possible without 35mm sources.
So glad to see this done.
No, no, don't assume that Revisited will match any previous version of the film. Remember that ANH:R intentionally has a grey-er, washed out Death Star.

There's a series of Star Wars related videos called 'kit-bashed', which expand upon the notions of Star Wars' influences from classic cinema (The Hidden Fortress makes quite a few appearances)
There are some interesting points made in these videos, but one that stands out is the music influences for the opening. In particular, this one from Ivanhoe.
There's also one from Stravinsky's Rite of Spring that was interesting.
To toot my own horn, see also this thread.

Is there any chance to get rid of those bright boxes around the Falcon and the TIE fighters at 00:36:42 - 00:36:44? This problem was much less prominent before Lowry "restored" the material though your workprint is already an improvement over 2004.
I don't have the WP downloaded. Are you, perhaps, referring to garbage mattes?
If so, then wouldn't garbage matte removal be a "specialization" rather than "despecialization"?
Not if the garbage mattes weren't visible in theatres in 1977, due to the differences in film projection vs modern systems.
In short, no.
