4K restoration on Star Wars
Time

I just noticed this tweet we got last night:

Lucasfilm was showing restored original trilogy @starwars trailers @Comic_Con this year. Are these available? @swrevisited @SW_Celebration

http://twitter.com/oshanruiz/status/493931616746475524

I'm trying to follow up on this, I haven't heard anyone mentioning any trailers.

Can't decide if these are trailers for a restored original trilogy, or restored trailers from the 70s & 80s.

The only reason for me to make a new one is that the sound quality will be improved by using the most recent version of ABC's score restoration, which he made after the GOUT-synched version was already completed.  Other than that, it should be pretty similar.

For now I'll just go with the existing isoscore, and put out a new one when once I have enough time to make it as good as it can be.

 Oooh, okay.

Yeah, I wouldn't worry. I'm sure the new one will be better, but it's not as if the existing one is bad.

I'd love to see "Original Henson Trilogy" and "90's Trilogy" Blu-ray sets. The fact that Treasure Island comes with Caper is odd to me.

I had somehow failed to realize they were so easily groupable! So, maybe one more new one (although I don't know how likely that is)

Eff the new movies.

The sometimes motto of this site (except when it comes to Apes)

Doubtful, considering Filoni has confirmed that Stormtroopers are not clones. I believe their intentions are as they stated, revisiting the OT era and exploring the formation of the Rebellion.

Oddly enough, I just listened to him in the SDCC panel for the New Dawn book coming out featuring Hera and Kanan and he straight-up said that the due to the rapid aging of the clones, they have "aged out" of the stormtrooper corps. and because of the deterioration of Jango's DNA, many new recruits have been forced into service through fear of the Empire. There are no clones left in the Empire, more or less.

He explained that this was the reason that, by ANH, stormtroopers weren't great shots and seemed to be a little more incompetent.

And so, yes, Rebels is connecting the OT to the PT.

Oh, I didn't like how Brian Wood said this

My plan is to pretend that nothing else exists other than ‘A New Hope,’ at least in the minds of the characters,

only to identify Vader as Anakin and throw allusions to the PT into the books anyway.

Key part being "at least in the minds of the characters", I think.

Tyrphanax just pointed this my way:

Star Wars Rebels: A Look Ahead

Hurumph. The script sounds awful and generic. Lines like "Helloooo Hyperspace!", "We're busted" and "You're good to go" where sentences I didn't want to hear in the Star Wars universe. More 1138 please... less 90210.

Anybody notice the use of the word "Padawan"? Sigh the PT rears it's ugly head already in the Disney universe. What's wrong with "Apprentice" anyway?

Finally do female characters have to put one hand on their hip and cock their heads to one side? Apparently they do.

Still the general OT vibe looks fun enough.

So, other than the female pose thing, you're complaining about modern-audience-friendly dialogue and working within established continuity.

I like the bit where he mentions being back on familiar sets - the Falcon we already know about, but could he be referring to the Lars homestead, or perhaps Ben's old house? In a way I'd rather not know until I see the film next December - staying spoiler free is going to be a test in movie website news hunting self restraint. I'm not sure I'm upto it ;)

You are reading and posting in the exact wrong thread.

I do consider the human characters of the universe descendants of humans from Earth, after all

How can they be descendants of Earthlings if Star Wars happened "long ago"?

Ancestors, then, ala BSG.

On an EU note, until they revealed that the Emperor or Thrawn or whoever destroyed it, I had always assumed that was the eventual fate of Outbound Flight.
