Wow. I really enjoyed these rescores!

If the cartoon taught us anything, it's that they all need really neat haircuts for that purpose.
On a semi-related note: did Lucas decide to make the clonetrooper bodies CGI in episode 2 in order to make sure they really were identical in height, size, etc? Obviously, the results now look like a Sega Dreamcast era videogame, so it was by no means successful. But I'm wondering if he at least had a valid reason like this.
It was probably mostly just to prove that he could, for cheap. A big goal of the prequels was to make the movies for less money than expected, while doing things that were only sort of good-enough-looking.

I did do a double take! :)
Now there are two of them!
but seriously, this name is confusing

Would that not indicate that the 2009 version is, in that one respect at least, an improvement?
Not to mention that the 2009 releases brought back mono versions of everything that was originally mixed in mono.
but only if you got the rare mono set, of course

What ever happened to stuff like that parallel-universe Infinities comic book series Dark Horse put out several years ago? I miss those days.
But that was explicitly labelled as non-canon.

I would like to discuss this hypothetical cosplayer.
What motivated them, why did this character inspire so much work to be put into a costume?
They love the character or at least the look conveyed by drawings of the character
Just how authentic is this costume anyway?
Define "authentic"
Are they resentful about the Legends decision?
Absolutely

Going forward there way no way they were going to have competing timelines or a multiverse.
It this turns out to be the case, I'm going to make Lucasfilm my bitch.
This...is a thing we knew...ages ago?
retconing at its finest
It's hard to tell, because those are different frames, but it looks to me like that mysterious black line is on the technidisc too. Yes?

Yes, the recompositing was the least upsetting part of the SE. (And some of it was necessary, because some of the VFX portions of the negative we're on Color Reversal Intermediate and had faded to the point that nothing could be recovered from them.)
Plus, given the goals of the SE (that is, not-about-historical-preservation), it completely makes sense to recomposite to remove matte lines and all that.
Well, there's a lesson to take over to PT-Revisited and its ilk! Thanks, Mike, that was really, really interesting.

Why does the thread need any action, if there's nothing new to discuss concerning its topic?
I keep hoping for a Special Edition of this thread with all off topic posts removed.
The SE of this thread will be released on 15 Feb 2028 and will contain a few more off-topic posts as well as the following CGI added to all of them.
On 15 Feb 2039 Adywan will release his own SE of the SE of this thread which will remove some off-topic posts, clarify/reinterpret others, and change the CGI to the following.
Everyone: Please accept my sincere apology for this post. I love you all.
Hey! There is nothing wrong with the classic thread contents! They hold up pretty well compared to your digital crap!
Oh my gosh it would be like...10 pages.

That thread is usually rather barren as well
I can think of a great way to fix that

i know that this is just a test version, but i hope ady will do something about the obvious green screen in dooku's hair
This thread is about episode 5.
Be that as it may this thread is unequivocally desolate. Might as well talk about something while we're anticipating news.
Nope! Did you know you can talk in other threads about other topics? This thread is for ESB:Revisited. A different thread is for the Revisited Saga, and thus the Revisited Prequels. That thread can be found here.

Does anyone really miss not being able to read Sword of the Jedi.
So the ink from the books vanished? Refusig to read a good story because it is no longer canon is like feeling obliged to read every crappy novel, just because it is canon.
He's talking about a book (or trilogy of books?) that was never published, because of the big EU upheaval.

And I especially like the profile view of the saucer that makes the crew look like giants...can't find a picture of that online...

The second Death Star is destroyed. The Emperor and his powerful enforcer, Darth Vader, are rumored to be dead. The Galactic Empire is in chaos.
It's probably nothing, but is anyone else curious about the word choice there?
Well where are the bodies? Who can prove they didn't escape the explosion? Many would hope they did - and so the rumors spread. Some would even take advantage of the situation and become shadowy impostors.
Well...I probably won't watch The Cage. I've seen it, and I know I'm going to see again later, you know?
So... this list but starting w/ Corbomite?
I do think this part is important
from novels for adults and teens to storybooks and stickerbooks for younger kids
So we're probably not looking at the simultaneous release of 20 novels here. Chances are, they'll fill in some key stuff from the missing 30 years, but won't tell everything.

And you should be watching production order, not broadcast order.
Why?
I'm a long time Trek fan who hasn't actually seen all of any of the series, just lots of bits here and there. But now, I'm watching TOS. Only 2 episodes in, so far, but am surprised at how surprised I am at the symptoms of the sixties. Crewmen leering at Rand, overly creepy Twilight-Zone-esque Charlie, etc.
It is good though, don't get me wrong.
Battle scene 23?
