Rogue Raid on Scarif
After stealing the plans from the archive, some portion of Jyn, Cassian and Kaytoo’s escape from the archives involved a sequence shot in a London Underground station, in which they are chased down a long corridor by troops.
The Imperial Archives on Scarif and the Transmission Tower were separate structures. Jyn, Cassian, and other rebels had to run across the beach from one to the other under fire from Imperial forces once they had the plans.
Imperial Astromech C2-B5 was originally supposed to feature in some significant way, as evidenced by his many forms of merchandise. His appearance may have had something to do with droids having or not having personality from frequent memory wipes. He appears to have been a part of the run from the archives to the transmission tower.
Krennic was going to be on the beach in the aftermath of the battle, possibly walking towards the transmission tower.
Once atop the transmission tower, Jyn was confronted by a TIE Fighter.
Imperial Drama and Eadu
Jedha
The Empire was going to be holding Rebel prisoners on Jedha, as shown by captured pilots.
It seems very likely that Kaytoo did not meet Jyn until they were all on Jedha. Is this because Cassian and Jyn went to Jedha to meet up with Kaytoo, or because Cassian and Kaytoo meet Jyn there, then take her to Yavin?
The crashed X-Wing in the background of Chirrut’s introductory fight scene belonged to Saw’s Partisans - possibly indicating there was more to their attack on the Kyber Crystal Convoy.
At least some of the Partisans, such as Moroff, were going to make it off Jedha. From there they’d join the Rebellion and participate in the assault on Scarif.
Prior Events, Flashbacks and the basic setup
A flashback to Jyn’s time living with and being raised by Saw was filmed, during his shaved-head years. In this scene, shown in a trailer, he appears to be training her. This, however, means Jyn lived on Jedha.
The film originally went from young Jyn being rescued by Saw to Jyn being taken before the Rebels to be sent to Jedha, with no introductory scene for Cassian and no rescue on Wobani in between.
The Rebellion
The Rebels did not trust Jyn, keeping her in shackles during initial custody.
The Rebellion know about the Death Star and its imminent weapons test before briefing Jyn. Her mission is to find out how to destroy it, not to get a defecting pilot to learn of its existence. Does this mean getting a defecting pilot from Saw on Jedha or, having already done that, is her mission to contact her father on Eadu?
Cassian is described in promo materials as a Rebel Recruiter. Is he sent to Jedha to recruit Saw’s Partisans to the Alliance?
I thought it would be interesting to discuss the evidence available and rumors circulating about versions of Rogue One that we, the audience, have not seen. The “Rogue One * Spoilers *” Thread felt very cluttered, so I’ve made a separate thread. My goal is to use the first few replies to compile information put together in the discussion.
We can only assume C2-B5 featured heavily in some cut sequence. Possibly the stuff they filmed in the London Underground, which (given their lack of Imperial Disguises) must have been after they (with a still-okay Kaytoo) get the plans but before they leave the archives and head for the (originally separate) transmission tower.
you can see Guy Henry on set as Tarkin - in full costume, no less
I assume that they did Tarkin by filming Guy Henry, in full costume, acting as Tarkin, then replaced his head in post.
I thought the film was great. The third act, as finally released, appears to be a bit of ROTJ-fan-editor’s wishes, in as much as we got ships crashing into the shield, commandos doing stuff and good fighters & capital ship action.
Maybe it’s much cheaper for them to show Rogue One as a second-run film, which they figure people will still pay to see in January?
The shape ‘X’ can be referred to as an “Ecks” in universe without it being an Aurebesh letter. This does not explain A, B and Y-wings, unless they’re actually Osk, this-letter-didn’t-even-make-sense-in-the-first-place and Vev-wings respectively in Basic and are just translated to our letters for us.
Oh my gosh, Ronster will be here for ROTJ:R when suggestions are open!
Ezra has spent the last 3 years with a trained Jedi. Luke spends like 4 hours with Obi-Wan.
I didn’t make the connection that they’re the EXACT same age. Now I get the significance of him being born on Empire Day.

Apparently, Ezra’s two days older
Guys… what do you think of this?
They just announced it. I mean, come on… that poster… Mike’s talkings with Disney… Could it really be true? With an announcement of the release of the whole trilogy next year to celebrate ANH?
It says “A New Hope”, not “Star Wars”. If they were screening the original movie it would say “Star Wars”.
No, not in the modern world of franchise marketing. Calling the first film “Star Wars” is not a thing Disney would do.
Not counting the credits, of course
He’s planning secrets? I can’t wait to not find out!!
I’ve already not found out!
Pfft. If you’re gonna try to sell her attractiveness on me, use the image of her in the leather BDSM garb.
And once again I’m reminded why there are no women on the internet.
If more women objectified men, we wouldn’t be having this problem.
Then we’d have two problems
she is not rey’s mom
Oh I don’t really think so either, but thanks for the explanation
Exactly
and thus Rey’s mom??? Who knows.
It would be pretty cool if she turned out to actually be a secret double agent for Palpy, his personal Hand in covert affairs
An exciting conclusion?
Excitement?
In a prequel??
I was about to make a thread almost exactly like this
Maybe a rescore of the end of AOTC, to make the Republic Army less ominous could use that?
The director of Episode IX wants to shoot it using film and using real space footage:
http://www.theverge.com/2016/1/29/10867492/star-wars-episode-ix-shot-on-film
I guess I could see this working for re-entry atmospheric shots. But otherwise… not really practical.
There’s a spoiler in this thread title.
If you really don’t want to be spoiled, you shouldn’t find out about the delay until you show up to the theater in May.
I believe this is an appropriate time to say
ALLOL?
