Only because it's a fan-made extended edition. The one-disc official release is obviously lacking a lot of the music, so someone did their best to get as much of the rest of the music out of the movie as they could. Sometimes effects just can't be helped. The odd spaceship engine and such.

The argument for:

The score for Star Wars, having been composed before any of the other films, lacks many of the themes found in the other films, themes which, had the films been created as a whole, would certainly appear. As one of the goals of Revisited is to make the 6-Film-Saga work well together, it is only natural that the score should be adjusted properly. The most notable "missing theme" is the Imperial March/Darth Vader's Theme, given the heavy Imperial presence in this film, but Battle of the Heroes is particularly fitting for the final meeting of Obi-Wan and his former pupil.

Viewers of the Revisited Saga may be surprised to hear these themes in A New Hope, as 1977's Star Wars is a beloved film to which they may have memorized every note, line of dialogue, and image. The changes may even be offputting at first, resulting in a poor reaction. However, if the goal of Revisited is to make a 6-film saga, then their insertions are appropriate and even necessary.

I wouldn't be so sure about that last bit. It's been stated, I believe by Scott himself, that "The Space Jockey" in Alien is just a space suit, not an actual fossilized body.

After reading Kim Stanley Robinson's trilogy of "Red Mars", "Green Mars" and "Blue Mars", I was pretty convinced this would work just fine.

Ironically, if not for the the connection to Alien, a connection the writers seem to want to downplay a bit, y'all might be more willing to see this as just a really good sci-fi movie

I am so glad to see Blade Runner explained. I haven't seen any version, and the confusion was not helping. Looks like I need to see the special version of Aliens... and I guess I know how to approach Alien3 now.

You could listen to the mono compared to each of the tracks compared to the mono individually, write down differences and then work out which were covered by the other tracks, but this might be slow, tedious and inaccurate.

Am I the only one who finds this incredibly depressing?  Oh, how I long for a good old fashioned sci-fi movie that makes use of models, practical effects, matt paintings, stop-mo animation, puppetry, etc, instead of soleless CGI.....

It isn't entirely true, though. There were a lot of models in the PT, most people just don't know it.

The fact is that most people don't care about perfect continuity.
