I agree with that soooo much. I don't think there's a better way to put it. Watching Star Wars was a defining moment for me, and if it was the only Star Wars movie ever, it would be the greatest film ever created IMHO. But because Empire came into existence (which completely blew me away), it is in my opinion the greatest film ever created, and that's not to detract from the original. Return of the Jedi, I still love, despite peoples' apparent dislike of Ewoks...

In my ideal viewing, I'd probably watch ANH, ESB, ROTJ, and then ROTS if I felt like it. I can only stand to watch TPM and AOTC one at a time, every so often...

Top 5 Moments in the Original Trilogy

Yeah, it's pretty exciting music. When I was typing about each Star Wars moment, I was imagining the music that accompanied them. I don't think I can imagine these moments without the music. I love the music that plays when Yoda pulls the X-Wing out of the swamp. It's like a triumph of the Force over Luke's doubt. I seriously think that could be my favourite moment:

"I don't believe it."

"That, is why you fail."

I don't have an order, but here goes:

- Luke: I don't believe it. Yoda: That, is why you fail. (The whole essence of the Force, if you ask me)
- Darth Vader: I am your father. Luke: No! That's not true! That's IMPOSSIBLE!
- Leia: I love you. Han: I know.
- Emperor: Strike me down with all of your hatred and your journey to the dark side will be complete!
- Luke taking Vader's mask off.

I also think that the binary sunset, the opening Star Destroyer sequence, and the Han/Greedo sequence (before it was meddled with) were up there.

Ask me about the music, and you'll get a whole 'nother story...

Yeah, I agree. I can always tell when CG is being used - it's too fluent. Sure puppetry is a little rigid, but people and animals don't move like a glass of water, they move like various solid objects joined together. I find that animatronics is more realistic than both of them - did anyone think that the T-Rex in Jurassic Park looked fake? I didn't. But when they used CG-only in the Lost World, the dinosaurs were too fluid, and I could tell.

I was always under the impression that Pidgey at least, was quite dumb. I would eat roast Pidgey for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Rattata, on the other hand, looked no more intelligent than a real-life rat or mouse, so if you ate those already, you'd probably be able to eat them no probs.

I never felt as though they had a level of self-consciousness peculiar to human beings. To me, they seemed like well-tamed animals that could perform tricks, bark out their own names, and if need be...be eaten.

But the U.S. market is too obsessed with "coolness"... I fear that the OMG!SUPER!ULTIMATE! BEST. GAME. EVAR!!!11eleventy!!one! (TM)... couldn't change the perception that Nintnendo is kid's stuff that afflicts my generation.

Yeah. I'd like to see a kid finish Ocarina of Time in ten hours, or beat mission 14 of Advance Wars DS. (I'm sure there's a kid out there somewhere who can, but he or she is verily above average.)

I have this theory: there are two kind of good games around. One of them is the good game based on realism, on doing things you wouldn't be able to do in real life. Sport games fall into this category, so does GTA, racing games, and stuff like that. It's a game being good for simulating the realism of something "cool". It's based on graphics and realistic engines, and consoles like Playstation and XBOX are based on these kind of games.

The other kind of games is what Nintendo mainly does. It's games based on fun itself, not on realism or neat graphics. It's harder to accomplish a good game with that style... Games like Mario Party, they are not realistic at all and are not based on simulating something, but are fun nonetheless... Atari games, remember those? Those were not realistic, but were fun, it was fun by fun itself... Hard to explain...

Kids nowadays are drifting between these two kinds of games. In Japan, the second kind is more popular, in America, the first one. Over here, it's pretty devided, although I belive now that Nintendo is investing strongly in our country, this is about to change into a more japanese-esque view - lots of games in Japan are popular here and not in America, such as Super Jumpstars and Dance Dance Revolution kind of games.

On a unrelated note, I was at a videogame tournament sponsored by Nintendo in a big hotel in my home town, I was there to play with anyone with a DS (got to play Jumpstars!) and see the tournament - I was probably one of the oldest ones there... And there was this tournament for kids aged 4 to 7 in Super Smash Brothers Melee, and I thought "oh must be a crappy tournament, so young...", and it was freaking AWESOME! The kid who won, he was no older than 6 or 7, and he played like a freaking pro! I'm starting to get scared of kids today...

I think what you're referring to is creativity. The way I see it, Nintendo are the only serious videogame business left in the hardware game. Sega has left the hardware game, and the others are just corporations putting out hardware for third parties to make games for. I still bought the X-Box, but I respect Nintendo and Sega in a way that I'll never respect Sony or Microsoft, because they were focused on producing quality, fun, creative games irrespective of mass-market appeal. And this is coming from an avid Nintendo-basher in the days of yore. Call it naive, but that's what it was all about back in the day.

Now, the people in that world, they are either ALL vegetarians... or they do slaughter some Pikachus or Jigglypufs or Bulbasaurs every now and then and eat those! And that's so cruel, because those are conscious beings, like regular people!

What about the Rattatas and Pidgeys? They were as common as muck...I'm sure no-one cared about eating those...

And need I remind you that we keep birds, dogs, and rabbits as pets, and people eat those in all parts of the world...horses for courses, I say! Preferably 4!

WHAT'S THE REAL DIFFERENCE BETWEEN NINTENDOGS AND POKEMON/DIGIMON OTHER THAN BATTLES ???

What Ric said. Digimon and Pokemon games bear no resemblence whatsoever anyway, and neither of them are like Nintendogs.

Sounds a lot like Seaman, which came out on Dreamcast in Japan a while ago. It was apparently a bit of a hit.

I swear, Ninja Gaiden is one of the 10 best games I've EVER played. Period. I was incredibly daunted at first, but once I made it through the first few levels, I was hooked. Finished it 3 times with all the scarabs, so now I can play the original NES Ninja Gaidens 1-3 if I feel like it.

I'm a Sega fan, and I finally decided to buy an X-Box at the start of this year. Me and my mates have been playing Halo weekly for the last few years, and I finally caved in after KOTOR II came out for it. Bought my X-Box with Halo and KOTOR II - played through KOTOR II EIGHT TIMES and loved it. Now I have around 15 games for it, all of which I had the benefit of hindsight in knowing they were good. I am thinking very seriously about getting a Gamecube too, because they are small, inexpensive, and have tonnes of innovative and fun games.

Revolution Controller SERIOUSLY REVEALED! NO JOKE!

Maybe it's a bit like the VMU for the Dreamcast - it'd be cool if it doubled as a memory card or something, wouldn't it? And I would most definitely get it if it had all past Nintendo games available for download - don't underestimate the number of people whose old machines or controllers are screwed and they long for that experience again. Actually, if Sega games become downloadable on it, it will be a no-brainer for me - I just wish that I had two completely functional Megadrive controllers sometimes. And it would remove the need for me to plug in and unplug my four systems all the time.

And in that respect, you'll probably actually SAVE money on peripherals, as far as light-gun games, fishing games, etc. go. I have mixed feelings on the subject. I think that they're approach to their new console and gaming on the whole is a lot healthier than Microsoft and Sony's. Microsoft and Sony is saying pretty unabashedly that they'll be doing the same things they've always done - juice up the graphics 200% or more, maybe a little more internet stuff. Nintendo seems to be wanting to open up more gaming possibilities.

On the other hand, descriptions I've read on IGN.com confuse the hell outta me and a STILL have no idea how the controller works.

I might buy a GC soon, and see how I go. I'm pretty late to buy next-gen these days (I bought my XBox early this year). Then again, I'll probably end up buying whatever has the most Sega games.
