Most Underrated Console System
Time
Anyone play Panzer Dragoon Saga? Not THAT was Saturn's shining moment.

Their 2D games blew everything else out of the water. I think if Sega had of powered on with some quality 2D games, especially an awesome new 2D Sonic game, things might have panned out differently. People might have seen the 'jaggies' and jerky gameplay for what it was in favour of titles like Radiant Silvergun, X-Men vs. Streetfighter, and Castlevania X.

Not to say that they should have abandoned 3D game development altogether, but I think they could have staked out a niche market and blaze their own trail.

A new Sonic game was definitely lacking. Sonic X-Treme got canned and Sonic 3D Blast was a cop-out (and it wasn't by Sonic Team, either).

Some other awesome Saturn titles:

NiGHTS into Dreams
Panzer Dragoon II (Get Panzer Dragoon Orta on XBox, it rocks)
Virtua Fighter II (seriously, this game is way better than Tekken)
Burning Rangers
Steep Slope Sliders (I still haven't seen a better snowboarding game, gameplay-wise)
Virtual On
Winter Heat & Athlete Kings (the best sports games ever, IMHO)
Virtua Cop 1 & 2

Man...what a great machine. The funny thing is that all of my mates would say the Saturn sucked and the PS ruled, but everyone preferred to come over to my house to play videogames...

TiVo/DVR

Call me a Phillistine, but what is a TiVo? I hear all these American Hollywood stars talking about it in awards ceremonies and on Oprah, but I don't think they've been released in Australia yet (although I'm probably wrong). Is it just a brand of set-top box? What kind of features does it have?

Are you Portugese, ricarleite?

BTW, just so you guys know, I'm not actually from Tunisia...that's one of those 'Tatooine' jokes...I live in Australia.

I know, we're completely off-topic again, but I honestly don't mind. But if anyone wants to post some more frames from the comics here, you are most welcome to...

*HINT*: Please post more comic frames on here!

Return of the Jedi - was it what it was meant to be?

It could have been developed via a romantic bond later on, or at least a friendship bond. What were Luke's options? The wookie, two droids, Lando? Leia was the only viable candidate for him to communicate with via the Force at that time. Doesn't mean it wasn't significant, but it also doesn't mean that it had to be a brother-sister significance...

Either way, I'm not really disputing what is, I accept and enjoy watching ROTJ, though not as much nowadays as ANH and ESB. I'm just wondering what might have been. I found what I think is a *very* early screenplay of Star Wars, which in all honesty is too creative to be fake. It suggests the fluidity of Lucas' concept for Star Wars:

The more I think about it, I don't believe Lucas intended to make ROTJ the way he did when he was setting it up in ESB. The whole concept of there being 'another' - I don't believe it was going to be Leia originally. This would help to explain all the incest-esque occurences pre-ROTJ. I believe that either Luke was going to find another sibling, or another Force-adept, or that perhaps Luke would fail, and it would be left to this 'Other' to either help Luke, or succeed where he failed.

In short, I think Lucas wanted to end the Trilogy, instead of creating more episodes in his set of 'serials'. He tied up so many loose ends that could have been developed further:

- making Leia the 'Other'.
- making Leia Luke's sister, instead of having Han die and their relationship develop.
- having Yoda die, instead of furthering his training
- Vader's plan to overthrow the Emperor was not developed
- Lando just being forgiven without really redeeming himself with some valiant deed beforehand (just a casual reference to the stunt he pulled at the Battle of Tanaab) - perhaps having him sacrifice himself in a warrior's death for atonement?
- Of course, we all know that the Ewoks were used instead of the Wookies

And of course the Second Death Star was a bit of a cop-out, but I have a feeling that GL always intended to put the Death Star at the end of the story - and that he brought it forward to ANH because he had no guarantee of any sequels.

Was it ever meant to be a Trilogy, or was there meant to be more? What do you guys think?

Unbearable HC

I honestly believe that O-OT purists have no choice but to disown the Prequels. I myself have no problem with that. I'll disown the PT any day of the week, without a second thought. Trying to rationalise or entertain continuities between these two trilogies is just not possible, unless you like and approve of GL's tinkering thus far, and leave the floor open for further tinkering.
