MSN's "Do nice guys always finish last?"

okay first of all, you have to THINK you're hot shit. remember in the 40 yr old virgin when Andy acts like he's the bomb and ends up attracting the hot girl in the book store? at first he couldn't think he could do it, but he acted the confident part and she wanted to jump him. a little bit of over confidence is good, too much makes you look like a jerk. but most guys can find that happy medium.
signals can be difficult. first off we love a chase, so we may give you the green light then run away. we do it all for a reaction. next time you think you're getting a signal, say something coy. innuendos always go a long way. and if she is thinking on the same page as you, she'll pick it up instantly (unless she's clueless and dumb in which case move on cuz you don't want to waste your time on those kinda girls). if she plays too many games, move on, cuz she's obviously trying to be a playerette or something. just go with you gut instinct.
chances are she's prob a little nervous too, waiting to see if you'll make a move.

Now THAT'S good advice. I didn't agree with you before about girls not 'really' liking the bad-boys. Girls are attracted to jerks because they're confident and that's that. BUT, there can be more - one can have more success than a jerk. If a 'nice guy' is confident AND funny and gets the combination just right - it's like magic to a woman, minus all the abuse and selfishness that comes from dating a jerk.

Apparently all five Hellboy trades are worth getting, so I guess you should get them all in order. Though I hear that Right Hand of Doom is the best one. There's also the Hellboy Junior trade, which I guess would be chronologically first, and is supposed to be a real fun read. All hearsay from me, though, I've never read a Hellboy comic in my life...

Yeah, that's what I was thinking of when I devised my earlier match-up (though, with the addition of French philosophers)...

Yeah, that's what I thought. Man, DC continuity can be so confusing! Still love it, though.

Picked up JLA: Tower of Babel on my lunch break today. Haven't started reading it yet. Read Dark Knight Returns a second time at work today...still great.

WHen she grew up she became basically a more violent female version of Batman.

But in "Infinite Crisis" Alex Luthor said that Helena Bertinelli would have eventually come from Earth-8 anyway, and One Year Later, Selina Kyle gives birth to a girl named Helena, who may be the New Earth incarnation of Earth-2's Huntress

Well, that's complicated now, isn't it? Thanks for the explanation.

Well Chaltab, 'shatty' is a censored form of shitty. And Nanner, I have nothing against cartoons. It's just--well--Teen Titans is REALLY bad. I'm surprised that you Chaltab, out of all people, being as intellectual as you are, would not be annoyed by this show.

And btw, is swearing ok here? Maybe in small doses? I just don't want to get into trouble.

PS. Nanner, I watch Spongebob too lol.

Swearing's fine around here, so long as you're not just mindlessly insulting people - I'm not a big fan of it myself, but I don't mind when other people use it.

Yeah, Teen Titans is a long-running comic book series.

I find a lot of the time that cartoons are about the only TV shows I can stand these days: Simpsons, Dragonball Z, Futurama, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Those and the odd sitcom. Half the time I find that these shows have more depth than most of the other crap out there (especially when it comes to "Reality" TV).

They all ask to God why are their lifes so miserable, and He must reply. then God can ask them if they have been good and loving people, and they must reply. The people watching the debate can judge if God deserves our worship, and if we should go to church and follow His words, OR if we should agree with Nietzche and abandon this idiotic concept of a all-powerful all-knowing all-loving God.

If you really wanted this debate to take place in all objectivity, you shouldn't have coloured your last sentence so much...

Read a lot of comics yesterday, by the way.

Superman All-Stars #1 & 2, The Dark Knight Returns, Hush: Vol. 1, and Batman: Gothic to be exact.

Dark Knight Returns was "Holy Crap!" kind of excitement for me. I got so excited and jittery in front of all of my friends that it was embarrassing. A very fanboy moment. I just couldn't believe what was happening...

Hush was a little strange, but very brave nonetheless. Can somebody explain the Oracle to me? Is it a computer in Batman's suit? I loved how Loeb took a lame villain like Killer Croc, and made him cool.

Gothic was very, very dark, and I loved it.

The Superman All-Stars series is very fun and very adventurous. I hope it continues to be this good.

Oracle is Barbara Gordon on a communicator. She was shot and crippled by Joker (during the No Man's Land arc, I think), so now she fights crime by being Batman's eyes and ears in the computer world and assists in coordinating people for backup, etc. She's also in charge of the Birds of Prey group.

Glad you enjoyed DKR. It's absolutely my fav of all time, and is responsible for getting me into comics in the first place. I've always felt that Miller just knew how Bats spoke and would act, and his interpretation has always been definitive for me.

Gothic...meh. Dark, brutal, etc. Slightly above average, IMO.

Barbara gets shot and hospitalised (and photographed!) in The Killing Joke as well, but that story seems to be pre-Batgirl. Her being Oracle makes a lot of sense. And this Huntress character, is she part of the Birds of Prey? Hush brought in a lot of characters I've never seen in a Batman story before...

I feel the same way about Miller. It's a shame about Strikes Again, though.

I loved Gothic, all the supernatural themes and history running through it. I think Batman is right at home with this kind of stuff.

This is no longer true, though! Do not under any circumstances, Red Baron, read All Star Batman. It might as well be Marv from Sin City under that cowl.

No need to worry about that - I've been steering well clear of it after what I've been hearing/reading about it. In fact, I steer well clear of most things unless I hear something good about it - I can't afford to buy comics on face value.

So who would you rather be - Batman or Superman?

I like 'em both, but as much as I like Batman, I'd rather be Superman, Kryptonite or no Kryptonite. Supes comes with built in powers, so he doesn't need a large bank account to provide for gadgets, he isn't a traumatized 8 year old trapped in a man's body, and he has a more upbeat outlook on life.

As much as I love both characters (I go back and forth as to which one's my favourite), I would much rather be Batman. As haunted and psychologically unstable as he is, Bruce Wayne has the satisfaction of having built Batman from the ground up. All of his skills, all of his strength, all of his knowledge, is nothing but his own. Striking fear into the hearts of criminals - having felons flee from you - being the Dark Prince of the Night, how can you beat that? Superman, to put it in crude terms, won the genetic lottery...

I thought about something today, and it's videogame-related. The X-Box racing series Project Gotham Racing, to be exact. When the first installment was on the Sega Dreamcast, it was called Metropolis Street Racing. Then I thought about it more - one is named after the home of Batman, and the other, the home of Superman! Guess Bizarre Creations are huge fans of DC...
