I don't know about you, but I've been looking forward to seeing the deleted scenes since 1977 when I read the novelization and the Star Wars Storybook. I don't know how old you are, but there are some geeza's out there who having some serious conflict about buying/not buying because of the bonus discs.
I've seen them on youtube and Deleted Magic. That was good enough. And at what age is one considered a "geeza" in Star Wars fandom? Over 30? Over 40?
19.
For real?

I've been thinking about the deleted scenes. They are interesting I guess, but if I never see them it won't kill me. The whole "Wow, deleted scenes!" was cool at the beginning of the DVD era, but I've come to realize that most were deleted for good reason and are little more than curiosities.

Wonder how fast will LFL be able to take down the deleted scenes from youtube once they start showing up. I really don't want to buy this fucking thing just for them.

The main reason for buying DVD, blu-ray, digital copies etc. for me is that they don't wear out as fast as tape. All the extra stuff is really "meh". Even most director's commentaries suck. At best I listen once and that is it.
Having said that, if the Star Wars blues (pun intended) had new commentary tracks - say with Harrison, Carrie, and Mark together all in the same commentary (not spliced together) - then it would be a real shame that I had to pass on it due to George's continued idiocy.
Where is my George Lucas Trilogy (THX 1138, American Graffiti, Star Wars)?
I think that perhaps the best EU product is the video game KOTOR 2 ( despite the final 10% of the game being a rushed, unfinished mess). It has probably the best writing you will find in any Star Wars product, including the original films.
You would think we would all be numb by now to the effects of George's idiocy. Yet he can still hurt us.
I've hurt you, and I want to continue...hurting you. Buried alive. Buried alive...
I just got a widescreen LED a couple of days ago. A cute little 32 inch one. The GOUT does not look that bad on it actually. Not great mind you, but watchable.
I'm going to be all right, I'm going to be all right...
Is the Oola wardrobe malfunction still in? This is extremely important to me. And Jumpman.
Were they blue or cyan? I always preferred the cyan colour myself.
Someone should email TFN and let them know about this. I'm sure they will support us 100%!

I imagined they would be three good films, man was i in for a shock. I also thought a fourth indy film would be neat so i guess i asked for it,lol.
I can't believe you of all people would have thought Indy IV would be any good after the disaster of the prequels.
Aayla Secura.
Quick, I need a sock!

I expected Anakin to be an adult and also someone who was a moral person with unwavering ideals. Him and Obi-Wan should have been the best of friends. It should have been an extraordinary feat for him to have been turned to the dark side. It should have been a real tragedy that happened to him. Instead we just see him as a little kid with no real input. A real waste of screen time. Then we jump to him as an adolescent and it's clear that it didn't take very much to coerce him to the dark side as he already had that tendency. I don't really feel that bad for him, he kind of deserved all the bad things that happened to him. He's kind of a whiny little shit-head if you ask me. His transformation to Vader even consists of him continuously being a whiny little shit-head. There was no great fall of a hero to the dark side. Just a selfish and jealous little shit-head fulfilling his destiny of becoming a sith lord.
Is this too long to use as my signature?
As an aside, I hate the current look of the Starkiller site. I loved the old page.
*sighs* I am old.
Some of those skanks in the nightclub scene from AOTC are smokin' hot.
Much to my surprise, I found the film funny. It is all dick and ass jokes, but I'm lowbrow enough to enjoy that stuff.

Something else to like about the EU: Vodo-Siosk Baas.
He's such a powerful Jedi Master that he doesn't need a lightsaber. He instead uses a simple stick made impervious through the Force.
Now imagine if Lucas had had respect for Yoda. He might have made him similarily awesome.
Personally, I always thought this was a little silly. But I agree that it would have been much better than "jumping monkey" Yoda.
It really is amazing the way the absolutely horrendous ideas that were realized in the prequels make even some of the corny EU seem like a good idea by comparison.
You guys have inspired me to reread The Thrawn Trilogy. My original 1991 hardcover is in rough shape though.
Off the top of my head:

YOU WILL NOT TAKE HER FROM MEEEEE!
I think George's "directing" during this sequence consisted of instructing Hayden to furrow his brow as much as possible. Furrowed brow=evil.

By the rules of "What makes a good movie?", Empire is better. By the rules of "What makes a good Star Wars movie?", Star Wars is better.
I disagree strongly. Star Wars is a great movie by any standard, and can be seen by itself standalone. Empire is a feast for the Star Wars fan, however it is rather confusing if you haven't seen Star Wars, and is full of scenes that have nothing to do with the story development (such as the ship landing inside the big creature) that are there just to wow the viewer. You also can't beat Alec Guiness and Peter Cushing as actors, and it is their acting that elevates Star Wars to being a great all time movie, alongside Citizen Kane, Casablanca, and others. What a joy it must have been to assemble their scenes.
These are good points.
I love the unrestrained, unapologetic tone of Star Wars. And you cannot top Star Wars for pacing. It is the best paced film of all time (that I have seen), with the possible exception of Seven Samurai. Good work Marcia! I must admit, I kind of understand what the young kids mean when they say Empire is boring. The middle act does drag, especially after you have seen it dozens of times. It is well done, but a little slow. The hole "trapped in a giant space worm" segment does seem to be filler.

They're 1024x768.
Technically, these are excellent, but are too much of a reflection of modern Star Wars thinking (emphasis Darth Vader, Boba Fett etc.). I always felt the heroes should be front and center.
They are still way better than any official covers since the classic '92 set.

I think any efforts that try to dampen the sales of the blurays are a bad idea. This includes standing in front of stores, putting stickers on cases, or placing fliers next to cases. This will attract the wrong kind of attention to our cause.
Stickers, fliers, and t-shirts are all fine, as long as the point is to promote the OOT, not de-promote the blurays. Heck, a bumper sticker that just says SAVESTARWARS.COM would probably be the simplest and best solution.
This seems to make a lot of sense. We don't want to come across like the crazy fanatics that we are!
Empire is a better movie, but Star Wars was the best Star Wars movie.
