The giant alien bug-beast jumps out of the purple bushes and nearly closes it’s pincers on Sulu when Kirk hops forward and pulls Sulu out of the way. They fall and roll together down the hill. They come to a stop at the bottom with Kirk laying face-down in the dirt and Sulu laying on top of his back. Sulu “Thanks!” Kirk “Don’t mention it.”

I dunno. Seems to me a little like changing Bruce Banner to an Italian American as a nod to Ferrigno. Something that’s pre-established in reality.

OTOH, I suspect that most if not all homosexuals have an imaginary straight alter-ego, a sort of “What if I’d gone in the other direction?” Sounds like Takei might have played his Sulu that way and was a little thrown by another take.

Not being immersed in the TOS EU lore or Takei’s personal characterization, I don’t feel bothered by a secondary character having his character expanded with an acknowledgement of the original actor. At least, so long as it is a simple acknowledgement and not a glorification or press to normalize the unnatural for children and teens.

THE PURGE: ELECTION YEAR

Finally! A free two hour campaign commercial for a white female former senator who opposes the NRA! Hillary just didn’t have enough from the hundreds of millions she has received from the gulf states and other foreign interests in return for DELIBERATELY turning the entire Middle East into a CRUEL AND CASTASTROPHIC PURGE. Trump’s behavior makes much more sense when we understand that we’re looking at his audition reel for the part of the ultimate evil white dude, but without making it too obvious to vainly hopeful conservatives.

Of course, it makes clear that NRA people aren’t concerned with protecting their families and constitutional rights, they are demented murder cult religious fanatics who have seized Catholic church buildings for their evil protestanty Masonicy ceremonies. Calvin and Luther got nothing on them. agonizing death at the hands of the righteous black and Hispanic gangbangers is the least TEA party people deserve! Let their children be VICIOUSLY “re-educated” again and again and again!

It touches all the bases. A heroic Italian secret service warrior for good, saintly gangbangers, all blame is projected onto evil conservative white people AND NOT to the alien groups that hire our politician-traitors to bring in armies of latino ganbangers and jihadis by the millions…

Yet another excellent example.

Honestly just ditch the torture porn in your holy books denounce the torture, past, present and future and get on with being happy on Sunday or whatever day is special to you.

You lost me there.

Do you really think that, at the time of transition to state religion, the experienced elite pagan mystery cult priests decided to just go quietly into that good night?

The group you describe is the perfect opposite of Christianity. The scriptures warned that they would co-opt, and the Luciferian Mystery Babylonian priests did just so.

As for removing motes and such, we must be careful. Jesus was instructing his DISCIPLES (a special class of missionary clergy many pay-grades above lay Church members) in how they were to behave DURING his ministry on earth. He gave much more practical commands for conduct after the ministry as his last teaching before going off to be crucified. His final teachings before arrest were entirely about use of force and how it must never be employed to promote or protect the faith. Force is for the protection of one’s self, family, and community.

The “torture porn” was a very great stumbling block for me. The idea that those who miss salvation by a hair’s breadth would suffer as terribly as Stalin is shockingly offensive to any human sense of Justice. Nonetheless, Christ vowed many times that there would be a BINARY selection, that those who failed would be cast outside of this universe to suffer eternal agonies, and that this punishment would be PERFECTLY JUST. A possible and very satisfying resolution to this dilemma is the realization that our Creator can control the SUBJECTIVE EXPERIENCE of eternity. Those who just miss might experience the fire for a few seconds, Stalin for VERY much longer. All could know that, no matter how long their personal experience is, like Zeno’s paradox, it will never come to an end.

You’ve got the right attitude about Sabbath days. Eat, don’t eat, observe, don’t observe, but whatever you choose, do it for the glory of The Lord.

^Yep. Love the comic, but scared to see how Snyder ruined it beyond what I’ve already read online (Nite Owl II is young, confident, and possibly sadistic; ending is wrong; etc.)

Seems like most who read the comic before seeing the film dislike the movie.

I've never read the comic and I was impressed by the way Snyder was able to introduce and present so much in such a short period. It was a great alternate timeline. I liked the movie.

Wasn’t radioactive waste also proposed as the reason of the suit, at some point? I think I read something like that somewhere here.

Does Vader need to be so horribly marred? Could he have taken a sabre through a lung and adopted modified Sith armor?

I think you’re reading too far into this. The movie was pretty well written and was about equality and acceptance (which is a huge value these days so why not utilize that to make it evermore popular). Unless you have any articles or other information to back up your strange conspiracy. I don’t want to hear any more about it.

A miniscule fraction of government budgets to emergency stockpiles for the ENTIRE population and their dogs (for security and morale) could prevent a democidal holocaust come 'The BIG GLITCH' and 'The Great Culling'. Instead, they use massive government funds to provide for themselves and the few they find useful in the aftermath. Also, they arrange funding for pop-entertainment propaganda, massive blame-shifting and projection onto the regular people they have set-up and consider useless eaters.

 X-MEN: APOCALYPSE
Not bad. Not great either. A lot of set-up for the pay-off. The Silver Streak might be an example of where to go in the future.

 BATMAN V SUPERMAN
Messy. SPOILERS The big fight was about five minutes and failed in it's causes and execution. I liked the cast in their roles, particularly Eisenberg (though noses running like that should never again be shown on screen.) Lois lane was good but unnecessary. Needed more WW.

What is Whedon doing these days? He could be helpful in DC or the Xverse.

 INDEPENDENCE DAY: RESURGENCE
Get ready folks! Looks like the Fourth will bring some deep-drilling aliens to cause havoc.
The established black lead Smith could have helped. A tighter focus on Smith, Goldblum, Pullman and Spiner might have helped, as well. Good to see Hirsch still kicking but his subplot could have been replaced with a simple cameo. They were stuck with the alien creature and ship designs from the original (I would have preferred something closer to the popular greys/little green men and saucers.) Great world building otherwise. I would have liked a montage/vignettes tour around the world showing how everyone was a reservist/defender. A simple shot of pilot trainees flying Foo Fighter simulators might have helped sell the sequences. Missed opportunities. Some Pandering and run-downs leave me uninterested in the obvious sequel set-up.

Zootopia- 6/10

Not very fun. Sloth scene was hilarious but I felt it forgot about being a good movie and spent more time beating you over the head with its political messages. Pixar films like Wall-E, Toy Story, Monsters Inc, Up etc. present touching and resonant messages without making things too political. I agree with some of the messages but the line where she gets called cute and she says “it’s ok for other bunnies to call me cute but not you” (something along those lines) goes too far. I think that’s actually a genuinely bad things to teach kids. Not very fun. My mother and I were so excited for this but it overall was dissapointing.

Thought that line was a pretty funny joke.

It’s sad that nowadays a movie with a message about being nice to others and treating people who are different with respect is seen as political.

And I don’t really get what you mean about “forgot about being a good movie.” It created a fun and complex world with interesting characters. The story was engaging, well structured, and with significant thematic depth. The dialogue and humor was clever and the actors were at the top of their game. It’s not my favorite movie but the makers certainly remembered to make sure it had all the things a “good movie” needs.

"...It created a fun...." I agree with all of that and I might have enjoyed it more than you DURING my first viewing. I try not to let careful analysis spoil the first viewing for me.

  SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS

The movie is not about "...treating people who are different with respect....", it's about viciously HATING anyone who DARES to recognize that a predator is a predator. And, also, it's about the prey trying EVERYTHING.

There are three types of PEOPLE in the world, there are sheep, wolves, and sheep dogs(pathetically few in number). Like TOMORROWLAND, ZOOTOPIA posits a PREDATOR's idea of utopia where all sheepdogs are liquidated and the surviving prey are programmed to believe that the greatest possible evil is anyone who might DARE to harbor the least doubt about their predators.

Like TOMORROWLAND, ZOOTOPIA is a VERY impressive work of mass-psychology programming.

But yeah, god forbid any black/Hispanic/gay kids grow up with a natural sense of self intact.

Yeah, it’s like all those carnival geeks who eat bugs and grubs and rusty nails. They got the gene that requires they be nothing other than geeks.
It’s a good thing human sexuality isn’t a hundred thousand times more powerful and complicated than whatever gene it is that makes them only geeks. Some pure evil breeders might try to claim it’s the environment.

I learned to read beyond a first grade level

Are you sure about that?

Yep. All kinds of articles hailing the black/Hispanic/homosexual Spidey. They killed-off Peter Parker, too.
I never had the chance to exercise my prodigious second grade skills, as I made a point of making no effort to find this new series they were touting.
Seems it might have been a trial balloon pandering to the homo-militant predators who target the sexuality and sense of self of children and confused teens, or an opportunity to once again VICIOUSLY demonize anyone who would DARE have the slightest question about the way the media attacks perceptions to destroy normal and natural human existence. My guess would be it started as a pandering trial balloon, and when the criticism started they highlighted the worst of it in their attacks.
It’s outrageous to think we should just leave the established perceptions alone, help rather than destroy the efforts of children and teens to reach adulthood with a healthy and natural sense of self intact, and just create special content for the adults who must have that sort of thing.

Mike Morales is the black/Hispanic Spider-Man of the Ultimate Marvel Universe. He apparently became Spidey after the Peter Parker of that world was killed.

And in case anyone’s asking, no, I haven’t read those comics. I just Google around a lot.

SSSIIIIIIGGGGHHHHH.
Makes me wonder what the response would have been if they had turned BLACK PANTHER into a Brazilian transsexual and reset the kingdom to Rio.
I learned to read beyond a first grade level because of my great desire to understand my SPIDERMAN comics. Parker/Spidey became an ideal for me. “With great power comes great responsibility.” I haven’t purchased a comic since I turned eleven, but they have effected me.
They could have easily created a KISS-OF-THE-SPIDER-SHEMALE dressed in black leather with pink fish-net. Instead, they pulled them out of the male interns and pissed all over the perceptions of a character of real significance to a great many CHILDREN, CONFUSED TEENAGERS, and nostalgic adults.
Thanks for representin’, Marvel!

Jolie and Johannsen have paved the way. I doubt I’d see a homosexual 00 if it’s primarily a pandering, identity politics gimmick. It would have to have VERY much to recommend it otherwise.
A homosexual Bond or Captain America would be a homo-militant attack on iconic figures of British and American masculinity.
I’m still recovering from being told we MUST believe allowing every pervy bi-sexual cross-dresser to prance into any Girl’s Locker Room is the most glorious idea ever conceived, or else we’re pure evil and deserve to SUFFER AND DIE!!!

Yay, the prodigal conspiracy theorist returns.

Conspiracy FACTS, my friend, conspiracy FACTS.

I don’t think anyone should suffer or die.
I do think your idea for female, gay or of non-European origin double O agents that aren’t Bond getting spin off movies is a brilliant idea though.
Bond is a pastey faced toff, male heterosexual. His entitled position informs everything he does. His colleques could and should be a diverse bunch.
Spies need to be from a broad group of people in order to remain undetected.

Try having any kind of career or life, say out loud "Two dudes who rub each other's poop on their groins semi-exclusively has nothing to do with marriage." and see how much they value your welfare.
Every character that is straight white and male has to be run-down and diminished these days.
Yeah, you can try out other characters in their own movies without DESTROYING characters beloved by others, but then, that's the point of changing them.
I would prefer the resources go to making a truly great Bond film. They were on the right track. Craig is my favorite Bond and I appreciate the effort to make it a little more real and gritty, but I think they went too far. Skyfall and Casino were fine, but a little small. QOS and the last didn't live up, imo. I'd like a big, high-stakes action/adventure.

Ranking the MCU Movies
Time

The Avengers: Well paced, colorful fun from start to finish. Great characters.
Guardians of the Galaxy: Well paced, colorful fun from start to finish. Great characters.
Avengers Ultron: Enjoyed Spader’s Ultron. Not enough of him developing his philosophy or the back-and-forth with his “father”. Probably would have been even better as a colorful standalone like the first rather than a dark middle act/movement episode.
CapAm Civil War: Major problems, but the airport fight and Stark/Parker go along way. Lamest…supervillain…EVER!! Some truck driver from the suburbs of Whateverovia is suddenly an international criminal/terrorist mastermind? He’s upset about his family, so he blows up other peoples families? He can’t figure out that his family would have died in the “meteor” strike anyway? 2 and 1/2 movies where the center of the universe is some guy who used to go fishing with Rogers before he got a prosthetic arm that’s not made out of plastic. Might have worked better with Bucky as the villain out there and the Scarlet Witch as the ambiguous character being arrested and maybe used for study by the ambiguous authorities. Everyone is right, everyone is wrong murkiness and possible conspiracies.
CapAm Winter Soldier: Appreciated the Bourne/MI experimentation.
Thor: Small with odd logistics, but I appreciated the fun characters and offworld worldbuilding.
Iron Man: Stark carries the movie.
Iron Man 3: Good until the end. Needed a stronger climax with Stark down on his back about to go out and suddenly overcoming his fears in a “Wait a second, I’m Tony frick’n STARK” type of moment. No more Mopey Tony thereafter.
Antman: Mild and small. Endearing due to it’s fine cast.
Thor 2: More odd logistics. Cast saves it. Liked it, but not overwhelmed.
Haven’t seen the others.

I would not watch a black Bond on principle. Again, there is JUST NO WAY to divorce this kind of thing from the element of "Yyyyyeeeeeeaaaaaahhhhhh!!! Now we're really sticking it to whitey!!!!". Why should I pay big money for that?
Again, they could easily create a 009 and bring in 007 to support. Again, it would have to offer VERY much more than an identity politics gimmick before I'd spend my money on it.
