God Bless, Ady and I’m never one to nitpick over his work. I only wish he would pause the Jedi Revisited project and get to the finish line with EP IV 2004 REVISITED ADYWAN *1080p HD VERSION . I love seeing the work done on Jedi, so don’t get me wrong it’s just that I think 14 years(approx.) to wait for Ep 4 has been hard. Please, Please let me be able to add it to the top of my Star Wars go to viewing list, just like I do whenever I watch Ep 5 revisited.

The third and final video for this week, as promised.
This one, having the original 2020 grading played alongside the new grading may through out the perception of the new colour grade in places, especially with skintones. The 2020 shifts from having an almost fully desaturated image with a heavy blue filter (why the hell is endor suddenly blue?) for the space shots shifting to a more green shifted grade with yellow/ orange skin tones. Subtle colour tones on the Death Star equator mattes have been lost in this new grade, similar to what happened with the 2004 grade. So after watching it in comparison mode, watch it again while covering the top image and you’ll get a better idea of the grade.
And for anyone wondering why the TIE’s are blue in this , well they were blue in this scene and others in 1983 right up until the horrendous 2004 grade ( yes, they were blue in the '97 SE release too) where they became more desaturated and a heavy blue tint added to the picture, and the 2020 grade seems to have gone down that route too but this time eliminated all of the blue colouring, except for the matte shot where they part from the shuttle.

I just watched the preview video for v2; the colours look great - did you adjust the engine glow for the Falcon? If so, it’s a nice touch!
It was also great to see the moving starfield in the cockpit shot of the Falcon, as well as the radar dish in the docking bay scene, but the best of all was the manoeuvres Han does to evade the Star Destroyer!
One thing I did notice was the SE audio during the search for the droids; you can still hear the small patrol droid’s sounds from the SE, however no droid is visible on-screen.
Yeah the audio is from DevEd v.1 because the 5.1 mix for 2.0 is on the Mac that was stolen.
You could just use virtualbox, parallels, or maybe even WINE to run the windows version.
I have tried almost everything, Playonmac, wine, wineskin, and nothing ever seems to work.

I can tell you that it no longer works under Mac OS Sonoma. The app installs and loads fine, but it freezes on adding a sample image.

As always amazing to see you work come together. Its hard to see the issues in stills by boy when its in motion that static grain hurts. As far as colours though, its nice to see the saturation back, with a beautiful blue sky again. However, I feel like the skin tones are suffering from over yellowing. I know your basing you colours on 4k83 (at least in part) who used original cinema reals to restore from, but I’ve always thought they never accounted for UV exposure in there clean up.
Those reals sat through who know what in the intervining years and weren’t exactly Lucasfilm Archives pristine when they picked them up. Fact is all the skin tones look too yellow, especially when you compare them to the other films, at least on youtube (which Ik doesnt always preserve information the best.
I’m no going to pretend I know anything about colourgrading film, but it doesn’t look right to me, if its not fixable or you don’t agree, thats that.
Anyhow, great to see some ROTJ stuff again, I still think you diserve a chewie medal.
your gonna have to keep in mind there in a desert, they gonna have to look somewhat yellow. even though I don’t personally think it’s that bad.
Someone pointed out in the YouTube comments of the ROTJ color grading comparison that at 1:13, there’s more contrast and dynamics in the Blu-Ray shot, while Han’s face looks almost yellow/orange in the regrade and loses some of the highlights.
um, that’s not how color correction works, you can’t lose highlights because they are inherently part of the original photography, the 2020 Blu-ray is both overexposed and has muted highlights, so Adywan fixed this by re-brightening the highlights and fixing the over-exposure in the mid-tones and what not. also, the skin is not yellow, that’s just how the skin looks. in fact, there is LESS contrast in the Blu-ray shot. and there’s no such thing as dynamics, I’m pretty sure Adywan is working off of Sdr.
I believe somebody said he could bring on Ryan Golden. Honestly, I’d prefer he does it. But if it’s any other impressionist than him, then AI is definitely the way to go.
I’d like Adywan’s personal opinion, though.
Adywan has said countless times that he already has a darth vader voice voice actor. there is no question about it.

I have compiled a 64-bit version for OSX. I tested it on my Macbook pro (still running OSX High Sierra) and on a virtual machine (still running on OSX Sierra), and it worked on both but I can’t tell you for sure that it will run on Catalina, so give it a go:

It’s always bugged me that when han is trying to force boot the falcon he accidentally breaks the door frame:

One thing that has always bothered me, which i have never seen anyone mention before, is this shot during Red Leaders trench run. The first X-wing to be destroyed by the TIES. Problem is, the lasers aren’t coming from the TIEs, but from the turbo lasers down the trench. But the trench lasers stopped firing as soon as the Ties were about to enter the trench. So it looks like, with the effects being in their final stage, that originally one of the x-wing was to destroyed during the beginning of the run by the turret lasers before the TIEs appeared and it was changed late in the edit. So i removed the lasers from this shot.

Since 1997, people have wanted STAR WARS re-released in it’s original format. Everyone here can agree that the 1997 Jabba the Hutt looked atrocious, right? Well, you’re not the only ones who think so. That’s why I am proposing to create an original copy of STAR WARS, completely unaltered except for color correction, in HD! I can do this by taking the 2011 Blu-ray copy and then adding parts of the original cut and putting them into the Blu-ray at parts where the 2011 editions differ with the original cut. That way we can all enjoy STAR WARS as it was in HD, without downloading a 21GB file!
people are doing this in 4k nowadays, where have you been for the past 10 years?.

Hey Ady, I know there was a lot of discussion a while back around using clever edits or AI audio to tweak certain Vader lines (changing “Obi-Wan once thought as you do” to “Your mother once thought as you do,” among other changes), but all of those attempts sounded a little unnatural to some degree. I just came across this voiceover artist whose Vader dubs are the best I’ve ever heard, he absolutely nails the OT-era JEJ voice.
