Another edit I'm probably going to make is the Battle Droids, I'm going to have them speak like in Mag Fan's edit, except when talking to organics, and when they speak Basic it will be a different voice.
That's awesome! I was going to cut out the Otoh Gunga scene, but your ideas might make it run better. Mind if I borrow this for The Phantom Strikes?
By the way, if anyone has/can put on a Welsh accent, and would like to be the voice of Jar Jar, could you please send me a sample of your voice, perhaps doing the lines above, so that I can see how you go?
I really wanted to play up the whole life debt thing, so I threw in the "Masters" line, I'm trying to keep him submissive, but useful.
Amazing as usual! What sort of effects did you apply to the TPM footage to de-pink it? I was thinking greens, to offset the pinks, but you would know best.

QUI-GON and JAR JAR pull themselves out of the mud. They stand watching the
war machine dissapear into the mist. JAR JAR grabs QUI-GON and hugs him.

In the distance, two STAPS burst out of the mist at high speed, chasing

The two STAPS barrell down on OBI-WAN.
QUI-GON throws JAR JAR into the mud.
QUI-GON : Stay down!
His head pops up.
JAR JAR : We're doomed!
The two troops fire laser bolts at OBI-WAN. QUI-GON deflects the bolts
back, and the STAPS blow up. One-two. OBI-WAN is exhausted and tries to
catch his breath.
JAR JAR : Oh my, thankyou master! Again!
OBI-WAN : What's this?
QUI-GON : A local. Let's go, before more of those droids show up.
JAR JAR : More! What are you talking about?
OBI-WAN and QUI-GON start to run. JAR JAR tries to keep up.
JAR JAR : (cont'd) Masters, if your looking for the Queen, she would be in Theed.
They all stop.
QUI-GON : Can you take us there?
JAR JAR : Come to think of it, they don't think to kindly of my type in Theed.
QUI-GON : No??!
A PULSATING SOUND is heard in the distance.
QUI-GON : You hear that?
JAR JAR shakes his head yes.
QUI-GON : (cont'd) That's the sound of a thousand terrible things heading

OBI-WAN : When they find us, they will crush us, grind us into little
pieces, then blast us into oblivion! (this is my favourite line by Obi-Wan throughout TPM)

Not sure about the dialogue, this is from an online script. But you get the idea, hopefully.
I wouldn't want Jar Jar painted out. When I first saw him on screen, before he opened his mouth, I had visions of a nervous, yet knowledgeable friend for the Jedi, like Threepio, that's what I'm aiming for with my edit.
We all have our visions of Star Wars, yours doesn't include changes to lightsabres, or Qui-Gon, but others (read: mine) does. And I agree with ESF about the fantasy of Dagobah, it was awesome, the CG version was pretty good, but it still didn't compare to the version created in ESB.
Also, I'm going to shamelessly plug my new edit and the thread I've created for it, for anyone interested in anything I've talked about, please take a look at it.
I guess the time has come for me to make this thread. This is the first in a series of three edits where I will be editing the Star Wars prequels in line with my vision for the trilogy. These edits are primarily for myself, but if you don’t like something please tell me, I’d love to hear from you.
So, the first edit in this series will be The Phantom Strikes. For the sake of clarity I will update the lists below as I go.
Edits:
A lot of silly and unnecessary dialogue will be trimmed throughout (eg "There’s the blockade!" - Oh, really, do you think that might be a blockade?)
A new Sound Mix, complete with the redubs, and new sound effects.
Appearances of the Neimodians cut down to keep them shadowy and mysterious.
Scenes where Neimodians do appear may be redubbed, perhaps even in an “alien” language.
Qui-Gon Jinn’s lightsabre will be yellow.
Scenes with Jar Jar will be toned down, to keep his antics to a minimum.
Jar Jar may be redubbed, and his character changed to be more like Threepio.
A Basic Synopsis (with comments about the cuts):
Alternate Opening Crawl - Based off of this.
Negotiations - There are no shots of the Neimodians, you just see all of the Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan parts.
Cut straight to the invasion force on Naboo - Meeting Jar Jar cut to a minimum.
No Otoh Gungah, no planet core.
Dramatic rescue of the Naboo - A few small cuts here and there throughout, making this punchier and faster.
Running the Blockade - Again, trimmed throughout.
Landing on Tattoine - See above.
Visiting Watto’s Junkyard - Anakin’s lines cut to a minimum, as well as Jar Jar’s hijinks.
No fight with Sebulba.
Sheltering At the Skywalker Home - Small cuts, Threepio is built by Anakin but less dialogue by Anakin, conversation about slavery altered slightly, a lot of sections toned down to make Anakin a quiet, contemplative child.
The Podrace Sequence - Faster, punchier, more action and less shots of the actual racers. Just super-fast pods ripping around the track with explosions all around.
Anakin Beats Up Greedo - To show his dark side. Subtle use of Imperial March as foreshadowing.
This is as far as I have gone in the edit so far, and I’ll probably start over again when I have my better computer back and I can use my higher quality rips and better software.

My vision of Jar Jar has him more like Threepio. Albeit a more alien, less submissive Threepio. His dialogue will be tamer, and no -sa suffix.

I was actually thinking about Welsh, preferably.
I was very careful with my choice of words, British does not mean English, like the Imperials.
If people don't like the Gungans being British, they can download the alternate audio version, or, if they get the .iso they can switch the audio tracks and try it both ways.
I'm considering finding someone with a British accent to help me redub Jar Jar, being an Australian, real British accents are in short supply, so if anyone has an accent they would like to give to Jar Jar, please PM me, I'd love to hear your take on Jar Jar, and indeed Gungans as a whole.
I'm also considering adding a slower, deeper, version of the Cantina Band theme to The Phantom Strikes (my edit of TPM). I'm not entirely sure where to put it, but I've got a few ideas as to where it should go. The idea is that it is sort of a classic song, that the cantina band re-imagined for performing.
Dooku should replace Yaddle, and Syfo-Dias should replace Oppo Rancisis or Yarael Poof *shudder*.
I'm currently working on recolouring Qui-Gon's sabre in the opening of TPM and I'll release it, along with my altered crawl in a couple of weeks.
At the moment I'm still working on The Phantom Strikes, my TPM edit. The TPM edit will have as little Jar Jar as possible, the scenes he is in will have as little "tomfoolery" as possible. Here's how it plays out so far:

My main source will be actual footage, footage that can have certain elements isolated. Beyond that I know people studying to be actors, who can perform against a green/blue screen for certain scenes, and most of the characters I want are in armour/costumes. If both fail I will fall back to CG, but hopefully it won't come to that, I'm not confident enough in my CG abilities to have major scenes play out without actual actors, I'm not GL after all...
Anyways, this is my ultimate version, the version I release may not have all of these aspects, but I'm going to try for everything.
No skillz on display yet, sorry. Mainly due to an absence of any, but I think I have the ability to at least do the scenes I'm talking about. It'll be a week before I'm back on my computer with high quality TPM rips, and editing software, so I might be delayed in that respect.
I'll try some more yellow sabre mockups, and possibly try getting some of Qui-Gon's scenes actually moving with the yellow sabre. I'm thinking that Qui-Gon will definitely have a yellow sabre, and if it turns out okay, I'll extend it to a few others.
My Jedi Purge scenes will be intertwined with shots of Padme giving birth, Yoda's exile(edited back in), The Declaration of a New Order, etc. The Plo Koon scene will be in the Jedi Temple (which will then proceed to explode), the Aayla Secura scene will be on Felucia, the Mace Windu scene will be at the Temple, and I think I'll just leave the rest of the Purge as is. We will see Fett and IG-88 viewing an announcement that all Jedi fetch a bounty or something to that effect, and so they will both seek their fortune with Windu and Secura respectively. The whole matter isn't very EU friendly, but I don't care on these matters.
I may include a scene in ROTS where the Clone Troopers become Storm Troopers, with a changing of armour perhaps. In any case we will see the 501st in Stormtrooper armour when the assault on the temple takes place.
Costumed Vader will appear, but never before the end of the Battle of Heroes will we hear the word Vader uttered at all. And yes, my ROTS edit will be my most ambitious, whilst my TPM and AOTC edits will be far more low key, with smaller cuts. I'll have some footage up for my TPM edit in a couple of weeks, maybe a little more.
A CG IG-88 will be used for Aayla Secura scene. Using some existing footage of Darth Vader, and some creative video compositing I'll create the Plo Koon death.
I might use this shot for the Aayla Secura execution.
Aayla Secura and Plo Koon with yellow sabres. What do you think? Aayla Secura will be killed by IG-88 and Plo Koon will be killed by Vader.
Also, check out my very slight edit of the cut Anakin vs Greedo scene that was cut from TPM.
Qui-Gon, Plo Koon, and Aayla Secura will all have yellow sabres, everyone else will have blue, Aayla Secura will replace Oppo on the council, until Obi-Wan takes over for her, she may still be in the final Jedi Council before the Purge.
My plans for Yoda are to reduce him to a Form 0 practitioner. He will never ignite his sabre, he may even teach this to his younglings, "The best blades are kept in their sheaths."
