THE ALL NEW PSYCHO REVIEW HAS MOVED

Yeah, I agree. But, still, it would be kind of interesting to see what happens after pt 3.

Just like it would be interesting to see what happens after ROTJ. Just like it would be interesting to see what happens after Independance Day. Just like it would be interesting to see what happens after *insert just about any movie here*!

Just because it would be interesting doesn't mean I want to see it on the big screen! That's how we get shitty sequels in the first place!

THE SUPER SPAM THREAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I like Star Trek. I've never understood why there is such the rivarly between the two franchises. The original cast was the best, but TNG was good. Voyager was ok as well, but not quite up to the previous shows. Unfortunately, it seemed to have fell victim to "cash-in on a good name" and the result was the horrible show Enterprise. They figured that they had such a dedicated following that they could slap any old peice of junk show together and it would be a hit. I'm really afraid that will be the fate of the Star Wars TV series, but that is for another thread...

There's no rivalry in my mind. They're both awesome. I agree with you in your assessment of the series (even your exclusion of DS9), but I've always had an affinity for TNG. I grew up with it, and I always found it more intellectual than the original series. That being said, Kirk et al had the better adventures!

THE SUPER SPAM THREAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Time
I wanted to post something about Star Trek vs Star Wars, but with Adam around, every thread devolves into the same discussion

As bing a SW fan I am, I'll watch Star Trek anytime. They're pretty even in my mind, but there's just so much Star Trek....it's so much more all-encompassing.

In a related note, anyone watch "How William Shatner Changed the World" last night?

My new order for watching the saga 3,4,5,6

They haven't experience it at all, Adam. I think that's why they're new to it.

I agree with you on many points, CO. ROTS was decent. Still, though, I have a tough time transitioning from III to IV. I'll still always see 4,5,6 as the Star Wars Trilogy, and 1,2,3 as the prequel backstory. I agree, though, that to someone who has never seen any of them, I'd show 4,5,6,1,2,3.

Clive Revil

I think a big reason Revil's performance was better was because, back in 1980, he had to establish the character of the Emperor with only those few lines. It had to be powerful, or we wouldn't believe that the Emperor was really that powerful or evil. When Ian filmed the scene, we already knew what the emperor could do, so he could phone it in, and we'd still all know how scary the emperor was.

Ian's performance would have been alright (not good, just alright) if they hadn't changed the lines. But they did, and the scene is too long because of it.

I prefered Clive Revil for the holo as well, mostly because it was short and to the point, and much more mysterious. They should have kept him for the Emperor.

Wasn't that because he wanted the whole saga in a film, but unfortunately had to pare it down so that Star Wars was just one sixthe of the story?

In a sorta related note, I was re-reading an interview with GL in Rolling Stone back in April or May (just before ROTS), and he said (I'll have to get the full quote when I get home, but he said "Now the first trilogy is a tragedy, and the last three are just a goofy story." !!WTF

Also, I was watching a piece on the new movie, Zathura, and the little kid said that he thought the movie was "kinda like the original Star Wars, because it focuses more on the characters than the effects. Jon (the director) wanted to stay away from CG whenever possible."

Interesting.
