I don't like rap, no, not really. I enjoy some hip-hop, but more the stuff with a message. The socially-conscious hip-hop, rather than just gansta rap. I like artists like Nas, K-Os, Kardinal, The Roots. I also like to look back at Grandmaster Flash and the other artists of that era, but back when it was social commentary rather than guns and hoes.

Now, I'll admit that I do the same with every other genre of music, too. I like music as a forum for commentary, whether social, political, or whatever. A song with a message is one of the most powerful pieces of art in the world.

I'm sure nobody watches The Hour, on CBC, but it's a youth news program in Canada, and one day, George, the host, showed that clip on national television because he found it so funny. I wonder what he'd think of Brokeback to the Future?

Well, I'm more used to the phrase "phoned it in," but they're essentially the same. It basically means that you didn't put any effort into a performance. Like your body is there, but your mind is miles away. Sort of on the wavelength that you couldn't be bothered to show up and act, so you could be replace with your voice on a telephone (or -graph, apparantly)

I'm even more surprised that you don't understand, you being a supposed wise teacher and all. I would have expected you to be more tolerant than that, given the fact that you deal with different points of view all the time.



No offense, Adam, but lighten up! It's a joke! It's making fun of Back to the Future just as much as Brokeback Mountain. And seriously, there's a difference between a shot at BM and a shot at gays. Not every BM joke is a gay joke. Heck, I made a joke on-stage tonight about Brokeback Mountain...and how I'd never be able to watch Princess Diaries again. Of course, only about 8 people got the joke, but I was still making fun of the movie.

Jokes are just that -- jokes. Jeez. Gay jokes are like racial jokes. "Racial jokes may be uncouth, but you still laugh at them 'cause they're based on truth!"
