Friend of mine told me today he thinks FRWL was one of the worst movies. I don’t understand why anyone wouldn’t put it at or near the top, it does not compute.
Many people have complained about it being SW/ANH all over again. Looking back, I suppose they’re right about that. However, it’s just so much fun and the characters are so great that I don’t care. As I watched the film, I wasn’t thinking about the similarities and I didn’t even notice them at all at first.
Except Starkiller and Maz’s place, which did take me out of the movie a bit.

I saw the delay coming a long time ago. I knew there was no way they would release two Star Wars movies in the span of 6 months. I also knew that they’d probably want a consistent release time between the movies, and a new SW film every year is incredible. I’m sure IX and The Young Han Solo Adventures will be pushed to December of their respective years as well.

Absolutely. I don’t follow comic book or superhero stuff at all, but the trailer in front of TFA for Batman vs Superman looked like it might be an entertaining mashup, but it totally lost me with Wonder Woman. Then again, I’m the kind of guy that doesn’t like food to touch on my plate.

I feel like Star Wars belongs on the big screen. Books are fine and I quite enjoy some of them (like the aforementioned Thrawn Trilogy) but as long as they’re making good movies, I’ll default to that. If the movies start to suck again, I’ll probably make up some weird hodgepodge of personal headcanon. For now, TFA is canon in my mind.
That Ghostbusters reboot scheduled for later this year must be stopped.
For the record, I’m not mad about the whole All-Female Ghostbusters idea. I don’t care who plays them, male, female, whatever. Ghostbusters should just stay as is. No reboots, sequels, spinoffs, whatever.
Are you not aware that there’s already been a terrible sequel and spin-offs including cartoons, comics and video games? It’s already happened.
And I don’t think it’s gonna be a reboot, is it?
I imagine my own Ghostbusters universe will always just be the original film though.

I always just assumed it was a reboot since the title is just “Ghostbusters” and not “Ghostbusters 3” or “Ghostbusters: The Next Generation” or anything like that.
Thanos v. Snoke would be a good fight. Who can sit in a chair more aggressively?
When asked about the possibility of such a film being made, he said “Yeah, probably. It’ll be the most expensive film ever produced! But anything that the public want to see you can be sure it will eventually be produced.”
I doubt it’ll ever really happen but it had better not. Please, o God, please never let this film be made.
I’d be okay with a “what-if” type comic book being made and never referenced again by anything, but a movie???

Any ranking of the Bond series is going to be controversial. WISNE is very low on my list, but we all have our biases.
Yeah, sometimes seeing other people’s lists is really bizarre. I see lists with OHMSS at the very bottom and, while I of course respect their opinion, I just can’t wrap my head around it.
I watch faces set just because my computer sucks too much to be able to download Harmy’s.
When TFA comes out I kinda wanna record it on VHS so the difference between VHS and Blu would be jarring when I marathon them.

Just finished Skyfall and my list is complete for now. I haven’t seen Spectre yet. Also note that I enjoy all of these films except Die Another Day and A View To A Kill. The rest are amusing at worst.

I just realized that most of the Moore films ended up towards the bottom of my list. Odd, I quite liked Moore himself.
What font is used on the 95 Faces set for the words “A New Hope” (and “Star Wars” on the other two movies, along with large text on the back of the boxes)? Anyone know?

I got all the films on blu ray as a birthday gift and I have been watching them all since (many of which for the first time). I’m trying to rank them as I go and I seriously underestimated the difficulty of it.
Quite interesting. I miss the early days of Spongebob.
When TFA opened I was convinced that it would shatter Avatar’s record. Now, I’m not sure.
It still baffles me that Avatar made so much money in the first place. Most people I know say it was boring and forgettable (I agree).
I too quite enjoyed Man with the Golden Gun. Maybe just because I like the villain so much but IMO its one of the better Moore flicks.
I also kinda like Moonraker. It’s silly (and it totally ruined the character of Jaws) but I can’t bring myself to really dislike it too much. It’s pretty entertaining, I think.
Here are several oddities related to the new soundtrack releases:
Both the Star Wars press release and the Amazon listing show different track listings for the CD and Vinyl versions–despite that they’re listed on Amazon as different formats for the same release and both have the same artwork. The iTunes version has the Vinyl’s track listing.
It seems the Vinyl has the tracks from the original releases, while the CD versions of the OT soundtracks look like reissues of the 1997 2-disc sets with “Jedi Rocks” (vomits) and the new Victory music by John Williams (which I actually like as a piece of music except it totally doesn’t fit into the scene–that this recording exists is probably the only good byproduct of the SEs).
The CD version also has the 20th century fanfare unlike the Vinyls–did the original vinyl releases include this, or can we read into this?
Oddly, the 20th Century Fox Fanfare has been removed from the prequels for the reissue CDs but not the OT–could this be a sign that Disney/Lucasfilm is looking to preserve the Fanfare, at least for reissues of the OUT–which I really hope will have their respective period-appropriate opening logos and fanfares?Correction: Apparently, the prequel soundtracks were never released with fanfare tracks.
As an aside, on iTunes there are also individual albums for the OT movies with old tracks and artwork as well as the 1997 releases. These “original” releases are marked as released in 2004–but I don’t recall ever seeing these before.
Strange. I checked it out on Amazon and the reviews from people who bought both vinyl and cd do not mention any differences between the songs of the two formats. Perhaps it’s an Amazon mistake? If I were reviewing them I’d definitely point that out.
Then again, maybe they haven’t had the time to listen to every disc and record all the way through.
