Ranking the Superman films
Time

BATMAN v SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE is pretty good… until the end. Snyder has actually almost fixed his characterization mistakes with Superman, and this version seems to have grown into the role pretty well. This is perhaps the best Batman to ever appear on screen; very true to the comics. Wonder Woman is great, but underused.

Jesse Eisenberg plays a weird Joker/Riddler type character that is called Lex Luthor. This is a horrible mistake, the character is nothing like in the comics. He’s twitchy and psychotic, rather than cold and sociopathic. It’s a good character, but it’s the wrong character.

The ending just about ruins it all. It’s dramatic, and it’s emotional, but it doesn’t feel earned. The fact that Doomsday looks as fake as he did in that one trailer doesn’t help. The ending seems to try to adapt (or cram) a certain comic story arc (that I won’t spoil here) into just a few minutes, and it doesn’t feel earned. I wish that story was left for later in this movieverse; especially since the next film will likely undo it immediately.

Weird choices were made that hurt the movie, but I don’t hate it like many of the critics seem to.

C+

EDIT: Been thinking about this movie a lot, and the more I think, the more some things irk me. Grade may fall.

Still better than MoS by far.

Ben Affleck cast as new Batman

The reviews seem pretty split. Last I checked, regular critics are hating it but fans of the comics are loving it, as well as mainstream audiences. Rotten Tomatoes has the critic score at around 35% but the audience score there says around 80% last I checked.

And of course Snyder’s fanboys claim Disney/Marvel is paying all the critics to bash it, but that’s total BS. If anything, WB is paying them to get all the bad reviews so people will hear about and see it for themselves. I’ve seen lots of people on Twitter saying that they had no interest in the movie until the critics started bashing it.

Batman v Superman is getting torn apart by critics. I saw it coming and I knew it was gonna suck ever since it was announced, but I can’t help but feel sad and disappointed regardless. I wanted it to be good, but it seems I was right in that it isn’t. And for the first time ever, I sure wish I was wrong.

Everyone had it in for this movie long before it came out. Dunno why, it was a fun romp. It took some liberties with the source material but I think they stayed true to the spirit of it. Sad that there’ll never be a sequel.

Yeah, I could never quite put my finger on why I didn’t like it. I watched it about 2 or 3 times with a friend of mine who loves it and kept begging me to give it another chance. So I did and, looking back, it should’ve been totally satisfying for me. It’s a seemingly fun sci-fi/adventure romp and it just never did anything for me.

I know nothing about the source material so I know it isn’t that.

For most of my dream last night I was just running around singing On Any Other Day by The Police. I was at a soccer game, at sea watching Hillary Clinton drown, and some other weird places, and I just kept singing that song.

Bill drowned too I think. He saw Hillary drowning from a yacht he was on and just laughed, but then said yacht started going down.

Critics often scoff at the moment when Anakin says, “I don’t like sand. It’s course and rough and irritating, and it gets everywhere.” But if you grew up on a desert planet and associated sand with slavery and with abandoning your mother at a young age, you would hate sand as well.

No, I would hate the planet.

For example, lets say someone lives in a bad, crime filled neighborhood. He wouldn’t say “I hate asphalt, because it makes the street I live on” he would say “I hate this street I live on.”

SHOWS
TOS
TNG

Slowly working through those two on Netflix. TNG may surpass TOS if the rest of the seasons are better than S1 like everyone says.

Haven’t watched the rest.

Oh my God! Season One of TNG is a trainwreck! There are 2 or 3 episodes I can watch from time to time but it’s rough. Season 2 is a little better, but it really picks up steam starting with Season 3.

Tell me, does Q ever become less irritating? I cannot stand him as is.

There are times when I just really want to skip this season and go on to S2, but for whatever reasons I just can’t bring myself to do it.
