I would probably love this film if Kyle Katarn was in it. As it is, I’m not interested and have no plans to see it. Two Star Wars movies with a female lead…, it’s all just feminist BS.

You’re absolutely right, Star Wars is for men!!! I’ll take a universe full of spacefaring humanoid aliens that usually speak English, basically use magic, build giant planet-destroying superweapons, and fight with laserswords, but if those aliens are women then that’s totally implausible feminist nonsense!

[end sarcastic rant]

Of course timdiggerm stole my joke, but still, I was the genius who first thought of such a clever pun!

Great, so even when I’m not stealing other people’s jokes, I’m still stealing other people’s jokes!

Can I join this team? I don’t want to give up the Fo team, and I liked yhwx, so I wan to be part of both. However, if yhwx was a mini-Frink, then that would make me a puppet in a very confusing game…it would be like proxy warfare with myself! I’m so confused.

Miniyhwxism is a seperate sect that split off from MiniFrinkism a while back, but still shares some common beliefs with MiniFrinkism.

I need a clearer definition of “casual” fan to determine what I am.

To go with a phrase I like using on other discussion boards: It’s all relative. To somebody who only watches the movies when it comes out, and then doesn’t do anything beyond that, the fact that we’re on a forum at all might make us look like we’re die-hards. To somebody who reads everything there is to Star Wars and is keeps up with absolutely verything Star Wars related, this forum might be full of “filthy” casuals.

Personally, I consider myself somewhat more invested than a “casual moviegoer” but not that invested. I like the odd book or spin-off series. I enjoy the X-Wing Miniatures game. However, I’m not avidly looking forward to every release, or base my life around it. If Star Wars stopped existing, I still have other things to enjoy and discuss with others.

I’m definitely somewhere between the relative die-hard and filthy casual then. I was more excited for TFA than I’ve ever been for any movie/book/game/etc. release ever, but after that, I don’t have much “hype” for any future SW material since the movies are annual now, with spin-offs and the like saturating the franchise so much. After VIII and IX, I’m not sure I’ll even care about the future films, unless they do something really unique with the inevitable next sequel trilogy, say jump ahead 100 years or something.

Didn’t Dark Horse comics do that already? 😉

O yeah, I forgot about that.

Recently burned DVD+R will not play

Ah, okay. I haven’t actually made many coasters, though, just one. The disc I’m working with now is +RW rather that +R so I can erase and rewrite it forever.

My disc now exactly matches his disc, for better or worse. It plays perfectly in the computer, but no other player, DVD, BD, etc. recognizes it as anything playable. I suppose I could try it on my PS4 but I doubt that would be any different. I’ll mess with it some more tomorrow afternoon, I guess.

Thank you for all your help, and apologies my incessant noobishness.

Followed your suggestions and burned the .iso to my disc. It played in the computer, but only after I went to the iso on the disc in file explorer and opened it with VLC, whereas my friend’s disc plays automatically. However, just putting the two discs in my Blu-Ray player came up with an interesting result; his disc was unreadable (simply called “Unknown”, where my disc was read as a data DVD that had no playable files.

I made sure to select “Mastered DVD” rather than “Like a USB flash drive” when burning, so I don’t know what’s going on there.

Every great empire reaches a point where going backward can seem more appealing than going forward. When the world is changing so fast, it makes us yearn for the old ways when life seemed simpler. But it doesn’t mean those old ideas are good for us now. We have to face one hard reality as a county … the new Star Wars was not as good as everyone thought it was.

Aw shucks! There go all my plans for a Star Wars themed County Fair!

A friend of mine lent me his Despecialized DVDs so that I could copy them (since I have consistently failed to download and burn the movies myself). I succesfully copied the data on his disc to my desktop and proceeded to burn it all to my blank disc. After the burn was complete, I was still unable to play the disc. The computer recognizes his disc as a movie and can play without fault, but my disc is still seen as a removable drive rather than a movie disc and, even though all the information is on the disc, Windows DVD player does not recognize it as a playable disc. Have I missed a step somewhere?

The computer I am using is a HP G61-327CL notebook with Windows 10.

4K restoration on Star Wars

I am not confused, I just don’t think it is needed now I have thought about it. It throws up more than about 5 questions.

Where as if it was silent you would only have 1 question which is simple and effective.

So I was talking about the Death Star Surface and then I Realised what about that old set that was a joint Lucusfilm & Disney project.

The Star tours footage from the original ride would be perfect to add perspective to the surface of the death star when it is just that flat grey smooth ball. There is probably lot’s of footage and outtakes from this that could easily be re-purposed for the death star surface and it is also a practical not digital effect. And it’s really superior to many of the backgrounds like below. And I also believe it was much bigger hence the perspective you get.

There is really no in between either you are right near the surface or you are really far away in Star Wars and you never really see the scope of the surface of the Death Star like you do in Star Tours.

Another example of the non detailed surface

Star Tours perspective of Death Star surfce

or perhaps cgi would be better.

Wouldn’t that require a Star Tours restoration?

Side note: I think I’ve said this before but Star Tours would be an awesome bonus feature, much like the Back to the Future Trilogy comes with BTTF: The Ride.
