STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 REVISITED ADYWAN *1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION

I don't own an Epson, but the HP C8180 is really nice. Scans negatives and has built-in lightscribe writer.

Thanks for the suggestions, but I'm never buying Epson again. I had an Epson a couple years ago and it was bar none the worst printer I have ever owned!

Sorry to hear about your problems with Epson. I've had an R200 for a few years now with no complaints, other than ink is insanely expensive (like any inkjet though).

I also have the Epson R200, and I like it very much (haven't tried the disc-printing function yet, though). I also owned the Epson 740i (which I ruined with generic ink) and I've also owned the Epson C82 which was a piece of crap. I guess it depends on the model. The 740i had the best photo-printing quality of the 3.

It is amazing that you can buy a new printer for less than a new supply of ink! :-/

I'm thinking about buying an Epson scanner (the old UMax is showing its age and I have $90 in Epson credit from that ink-related class action suit). I'd like to get one that scans negatives, too. Any recommendations?

opinions - how the release of the original to theatres was different than the new three films.
Time
I'm not saying you, or anyone else for that matter, are wrong or right. I was only speaking to my opinion about the films. What I'm saying with what you quoted of my previous message is that we see things differently as children than we do as adults. I'm not trying to say our age determines whether a movie is "good or bad". Age affects our viewpoint whether in a good or bad light.

Awards programs don't interest me at all. I dismiss all "best of" awards. That opinion has come with age as I have realized that many years ago awards programs are meaningless when so many politics and friendships are involved during the voting process. It's a big joke. I don't so much mind achievement awards though as recognition for work is a lot different than saying you're the "best of.."

I have a saying.."there are certain constants in the universe, but subjectivity isn't one of them."

Sunday, I defended you a couple of weeks ago when people were taking shots at you cause you were interested in the new Clone Wars Movie/TV Shows, but you are doing exactly what alot of people do as SW fans: Speak for someone elses opinions.

Why I can't I just say that ANH & ESB are the best movies of the 6, and leave it at that? Why does everything have to involve our youth when it comes to evaluating a SW film? Why does everything have to be psychoanalyzed, why can't we all just look at a movie and just evaluate it for what its worth?

Would you think I have a skewed opinion if I said that Terminator 1 was better then Terminator 3? I saw The Original Terminator as a 12 year old kid and loved the movie, and I saw T3 as a 31 year old and thought it was average at best. Am I wrong?

Oh by the way, before you say the acting is crappy in all SW movies, Alec Guiness got nominated for a Best Supporting Actor nod for the Original SW.

opinions - how the release of the original to theatres was different than the new three films.
Time
I was almost 8 when SW came out in 1977. I loved it. I loved the first two movies more so than ROTJ. I think ESTB was the best of the three, but ANH will always be the one I watch the most. It has the most allure because it was the movie that grabbed me. How it can't be my favorite, but is the best...well...is confusing to say the least even today.

I don't recall much from back then. But I can tell you the new trilogy is different because I was a child when the OT came out. I was an adult with the PT came out. Because of the age difference, I think we as viewers see the movies in a different perspective, which in turn skews our viewpoint.

To me, the OT and the PT are terrible movies compared to some I've seen. The acting isn't all that great in either series and the hokey effects are cheesey in both as well. The dialogue is terrible, but one thing just works and that is the reality of the fantasy. They may not be the best crafted films, but they are my favorites. Both trilogies to me are enjoyable. They're just different. I've stopped ranking the movies. I just watch whichever movie strikes my fancy at the time I reach for a DVD.

New 'The Clone Wars' movie trailer
Time
To me anyone that's the age of 2-17 is a kid. So that's where I'm coming from. I agree there's a huge difference in tone from the OT to the PT. But there's a huge plot difference too. Mainly the OT is about a story of characters brought together that fight together (Leia, Han, Luke, Chewbacca, R2, C3PO).

The PT focuses a lot more on individual relationships more so than the group dynamic (Anakin-Padme, Obi-Wan-Anakin). There's more investment in those types of intimate relationships. Lucas always has said he thought the OT was the most interesting part of the story. That's why he made SW first.

I'm not the type of fan that's all hyped up on the story as much as many are. At least when SW is concerned. I'm in love with the universe of SW. The storylines are what makes it more real.

New 'The Clone Wars' movie trailer

Several posters in this thread have lumped OOT fans (members of this board in particular) together in saying this will be (essentially) crap, or is crap. You know what? Maybe it will be, but lets remember..Lucas made these for kids back in 77. He's making them for kids in 2008. If you don't like it, that's fine. You don't have to watch it. If you've got kids, either show it to them or don't.

I'll be watching it personally, whether it's crap or not because I love all of the Star Wars movies. I enjoy them all. It's cool if you guys don't. I just hope some of you will be more respectful of fans that frequent these forums that have a middle of the road attitude towards the rest of the non-OOT SW universe. I suppose I can't ask for anything more than that. Just, please, don't lump us all together. Take more responsibility for your own opinions and not of others. I'm not trying to be arguementive...well..ok...maybe I am. ;) But I'm trying not to be rude or judgemental about others opinions. I would like to be respectful and constructive. and hopefully, you guys can see that.

I wish some of you would stop assuming everyone on this board feels the same about the prequels and the EU. I'm looking forward to the new animated movie and the series. FYI, born in 1969 and saw SW in the theater back in '77, as well as every subsequent movie since. So please don't assume you know what everyone here enjoys.

I sooooo would like to see a new animated series based on the fan interpretation of the New Republic trailer that was released here:

Thanks.

My wife is one of the displeased Star Wars fans..but not because of anything George did or didn't do. She got uninterested because of the fans getting all nitpicky about everything. She was enjoying the prequels as well as the rest of the EU for that matter. She was just as big of a fan as me.

When I told her about the new series getting a theatrical release, she was quite honestly suprised. She didn't say she wouldn't go and see it with me, because I know she will. But like I said, she's not uninterested because of George. I'm just tired of hearing people bicker on and on about how much they hate the SE and prequels and everything about them. When someone starts a thread like this, the pissers should find another place to piss. Otherwise people like me are going respond negatively.

I partly agree with you, and partly disagree too. I do agree with you if someone keeps coming in and won't let it go how much they hate SW and Lucas, they should post once and walk away in this thread. But I am interested in hearing everyones opinion about the Clone Wars Movie/TV show atleast once just to get an idea of what SW fans think of this.

I can honestly say if someone told me 10 years ago that there would be more SW stuff after the PT and I wouldn't care, I would have told them they were nuts. I am frankly suprised that Lucas is in a sense doing Episode II.5, instead of doing something new and interesting. There is so much more out there in the SW universe to do, why pick something that has essentially been told, and is now getting fleshed out even more? If someone enjoys it, I say that there is nothing wrong with that, but I have to say I have told my diehard SW friends yesterday about the Movie/TV show, and NOBODY cares now! They all said, "Oh just let it go George..." Again, I don't think that has anything to do with hate towards Lucas, cause none of my friends post on SW boards, or really go crazy over the PT or OOT, but I think they are all just Star Wars out.

Dude, if you're so sick of Star Wars why the heck are you here pissing all over it now? Throw your DVDs/VHS in the trash and give it a rest and get on with your life. All you haters are amazing. You complain day in and day out about the prequels and over the OOT. Get over it and move on. The movie is coming out irregardless of your negative attitudes.

If you're going to hang around here and bitch and moan you might as well give this movie a chance since you still seem to be so infatuated with the movies and the idea that maybe one day George will get a clue and release the OOT as it should be in it's restored natural glory.

Some of you are amazingly hyprocritical.

"Dude," if you're so sick of your fellow Star Wars fans why the heck do you interact with them to the degree where you'll start pissing on them for no good reason? Flaming someone because you have simply acquired a wild interpretation of one of their statements is an indication of someone who needs to lighten up and move on. You speak of hypocrisy and yet here you are "bitching and moaning" to the heavens over a much smaller expression of displeasure.

We can look forward to Star Wars films for years to come, I'm sure. Dread, more like. If you had told me 12 years ago that I would eventually be sick of Star Wars to the point of not giving a shit I wouldn't have believed it. But believe it people, believe it - NOT INTERESTED.

capturing VHS?

That, I can't tell you as I have no basis for comparison. The only comparison I have personally is against a USB capture device which was crappy to say the least. As far as what I own now, it really depends on the quality of the source footage and the final compression standards you set when encoding it that determine the overal outcome. I use the huffyuv codec and although it's sometimes fussy with Windows media player it's generally turns out pretty well once it's converted to MPEG2.

STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 REVISITED ADYWAN *1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION

I'm one of those fans that enjoyed the SE when it came out. Yes, even I have nitpicks about it but I've accepted the fact that George replaced the OT with the SEs. But I also agree with folks here in that the OT should be available in a pristine format like the SE is today. But there's no getting over the fact that we fans, well some of us, have just gotten too dang picky. You're right in that a lot of people hate the CGI, especially in the prequels, the "lame storytelling" and all that jazz. As soon as you ruin someone's interpretation and expectations you all of a sudden get a lot of backlash. I feel sorry for George in the respect that people don't give him enough credit for making his OWN movie. Not some fanboy's version of his movie. For crying out loud...he's the one to tell the industry to take a hike. He did it his way. And dang that took guts to put all his money on the line like that. The man is a philanthropist and a family man as well. Sure he makes a lot of money and irks us to no end sometimes, but he's not a bad guy.

Adywan, you've done an excellent job with this edit. And yep, people are going to nitpick just like they do with George. It just comes with the territory of being a Star Wars fan. You give it, and you get it. Try not to take too much to heart. We still appreciate the work you've done. We do want to see more from you in the future.

Adywan, one thing you might do if you have a few minutes (I see it as a missed opportunity for a tiny bit more flare)..

You might want to do something similar with thebackground landscape found at 11:18 later on at 13:05. Obviously it's a personal choice to leave as it is but it could add little more.
