Encountering errors trying to burn a DVD from a VIDEO_TS folder
Time
I'm using Sonic's RecordNow. I did some more research and came up with this post:

http://forum.videohelp.com/viewtopic.php?p=1423828#1423828

I have no idea if I can download the trial for DVDRemake Pro and fix this issue or not. Anyone know if you can save with the trial version? This almost sounds like a similar issue to what Jambe had with Returning to Jedi. Sort of anyway. With that DVD, it would just skip to the beginning at about the mid way point. Seems there were two layer breaks so that caused the issue. In this case, it would seem something to do with there not being enough chapters as the mid point of the film. Maybe.

It's a directory with the VOB, and the rest of the other files. So it's not an image exactly. But I agree there shouldn't be an AUDIO_TS inside the VIDEO_TS folder. But for some reason the error seems to indicate that perhaps the file config is saying otherwise OR it means it in the sense that it could be either the VIDEO or AUDIO folders or BOTH. So I'm guessing there should be a way to correct this?

Encountering errors trying to burn a DVD from a VIDEO_TS folder
Time
I've managed to rip a fan film dvd I received that was having some issues on my current PC dvd drive. With some trial and error my wife's laptop, I ripped all of the files to my hard drive so that I can play it without problem from that hard drive. The problem is when I play it from the DVD, the second half of the DVD stalls on the DL disc. So that leads me to believe it's a disc problem or incompatability with my disc drive because it will play fine on my HD. Also, as I've said every once and awhile my wife's laptop had trouble reading the files. But I did manage to get them all copied and onto the drive.

BUT when I try to burn a new DL disc, it keeps giving me this error:

"There was a formatting error in the VIDEO_TS/AUDIO_TS folders. Please check the folders and try again."

Well, I don't have an AUDIO_TS folder in the VIDEO_TS directory, nor is there one in the root directory. I've tried adding blank AUDIO_TS directories separately in both the VIDEO_TS and root directories with no luck. Same error when trying to burn.

Further details on the error say:

"Sense: 00 ASC: 00 ASCQ: 00 (Command: 00)
-----------------------------------------
Px.dll: 2.6.55.500
Pxdrv.dll: 1.1.60.0
PxMas.dll: 2.6.55.500
PxWave.dll: 2.6.55.500
pxwma.dll: 1.0.0.3

So any ideas on how to fix this so that I can reburn? Sounds like one of the files has some incorrect data? Maybe I can use PgcEdit or another program to fix this? and if so, where would I look in the program to find the problem? Sorry for the stupid questions, but I'm a total newb at authoring DVDs for the most part.

The fix for the jump at chapter to 23 to 24 now works properly. In Media Player it's smooth. In WinDVD there's a small tiny less than a second gap. Not a big deal. But it seems to be working.

BUT before I burn another DL disc, I'm going to replay the movie beginning to end to make sure there are no new issues. I'll post as soon as I do that, which I'll start right now.

OH AND JAMBE, is the menu screen supposed to have the white menu selector box visible before the "Documentary" and "Extras" logos appear? No biggie, just wondering.

That's the thing. I don't have but a few DL dvds on hand. I'd rather not waste them in attempt to get it right. Maybe someone else would like to try? But it will definitely still be a problem even after I put the movie onto a DL disc, because I'm playing this from my hard drive by loading the VIDEO_TS.IFO file into Windows Media player and it's still skipping to the menu at 01:53:50, even with the DL fix. So lets fix this so that it plays from a HD first, then we can worry if it works on a DL disc.

Dual layer. If I can get it to work from the hard drive then I'll burn it to my DL disc. But these things are expensive, so I'll wait til it works on the HD first. I unpacked all the files in the rar file overtop the existing files in the VIDEO_TS folder. They show as copied, but it's still skipping back. Can you try the fix in Windows Media Player off your hard drive?

Jambe, it happened to me also..skipped back to the beginning. I put the movie on a Verbatim DVD+R DL disc. If you fast forward to the next transition, it will not skip. But if you "play" it, it will skip back to the original title. I don't have a standalone DVD player that plays PAL, so I have no idea if it works fine in those situations or not.

I'm playing the film on an NEC ND-3550A series drive. It's also happening on my wife's laptop which has a Matshita UJ841S drive.

I have a feeling it's going to take awhile to find a seed for your Definitive Extras Rowman. But thanks for letting me know. I checked my copy of Deleted Magic, and that was more a BTS of Lapti Nek per say than the actual video. So if anyone can seed the Extras disc I'd appreciate it.

Thanks again Jambe and Boba Feta thanks for the cover. I was actually hoping to get a companion to the one you did for BE since it looks like Jambe's going back to do one for EP4.

Thanks again Jambe for making this film. I've finally got it downloaded and went out to buy some DL DVDs to burn it on tonight. Not cheap, but worth every penny. Anyhow...I've got a question Jambe and all, for the longest time I had wondered about the Lapti Nek music video I saw late night on NBC once. It was the full music video that is mentioned here in the film. So, THAT's where it was...the Definitive Laser Disc set. Is there any other place that this is available at either commercially or preserved by someone here at originaltrilogy.com? I've got a cruddy quality mov or avi file I'm guessing..somewhere around, but I'd love to be able to get a high quality version of the entire extended music video.

Anyone?

Good capture card?

I'll give that a try. I have a feeling due to the amount of work I have in front of me, I'm going to end up needing a 500 gig HD. But for the moment, size doesn't matter during this testing phase. But if I can get away with using compression and actually be able to play it back, that would be ideal since real-time playback while editing is important for this project. Basically, what I'm doing is preserving videos for an obscure band that I've been following for these past 17 years. So there will be a lot of 3-5 minute vids I'll be working with.

Anyway, I'll ffdshow a try. Hopefully, it will help.
