As far as I know, you can find torrents on public trackers - all you need to dfo is a little googling. And I'm running out of invites, so I'd appreciate if you guys could do that instead.

All of Harmy's work is on TPB.

I dunno what search terms you're using, but the only copy of the 2.0 that's coming up was uploaded a few weeks ago and now has no seeders. I've come across the rest of Harmy's stuff at a few other semi-public trackers, but none of them are as well-seeded as the spleen.

TPB search: despecialized

I figure if I can stand the subtitles on my Star Wars documentaries i can stand them on BTTF. Plus, on the Indiana Jones WOWOW broadcasts, the subtitles only popped up to translate things (ie English signs) every so often. Are you sure that's not what happens on that instead?

See for yourself:

http://www.avsforum.com/t/1285244/back-to-the-future-bd-vs-hdtv-comparison#post_19377701

I have the Indiana Jones ones and they appear to be different that way. If they're truly "hard-coded" it would ruin it for me. Not sure if they can be removed.

I'm pretty sure that these Japanese subtitles are not hard-coded.

If they are we'll have to find the "Canal+ Film HD" version.

Speaking of which, i found more screenshots from this HDTV cap: http://www.sendspace.com/file/3rndcx

Well I for one can't stand those logos like "Canal+.." in the top right hand corner throughout an entire movie. As you can see from the BTTF pt2 screenshots they're there the whole time.

The "good" screenshots come from the Japanese network WOWOW. Notice the hardcoded Japanese subs on the other images in that AVSforum thread.

I don't know where you'd find that capture nowadays. If it was posted to Usenet, it was likely a long time ago; it's probably past the retention periods of the newsreaders, and it doesn't show up on Binsearch.

These pre-Blu HDTV rips need to be preserved, they must not be allowed to vanish into the mists of time, so I'd love to get my hands on this WOWOW rip someday. Maybe ask the guy who posted the images on that forum?

Binsearch only goes back to 1100 days. NZBClub.com goes back upwards of 1600 days fwiw.

Another person for Ady to add in the list of credits, Stuwart Freeborn passed away tuesday at the age of 98. Ady should put him right beside Irvin Kershner. Stuart Freeborn RIP, if it weren't for you we would not have the yoda we all know today.

The second spelling of Stuart is correct FWIW.

Slow Windows XP
Time

Maybe a long shot but could be the CPU is getting overheated and clocks down to prevent that, and thus slowing everything down.

Google around and see which CPU temp software works with your CPU and check the temps both at idle and load. Also see if you can find what the recommended temps are for that CPU.

If you have good cooling for the computer you might wanna open it up and clean away dust if it's been a long time.

You might also wanna check if the reason is a specific service running in the background. You can use the software ProcessExplorer for that.

And make sure Norton 360 isn't running any backup-copy thing in the background. I'm using Norton internet security myself so I'm not familiar with the additions in 360.

EDIT: To check if the CPU is clocking down you might also wanna monitor the CPU clock. Google around for software working with your CPU for this also.

Thanks You_Too for all the advice. I think I'm going to try cleaning out the dust inside because that's helped me before. This time it's different though. The last time I had to clean out dust my computer would repeatedly freeze up followed by a warning 'beep'.

Slow Windows XP
Time

Just yesterday I noticed my programs in XP were opening slowly and also running slowly. My computer takes a long time to start up too. I searched on Google and tried CHKDSK to see if the hard drive was ok and it was just fine. I then defragged and after that the problem was still there. From googling I found that my problem could be issues with my RAM. I ran memtest.exe for an hour and it didn't find any errors. One example of my problem is when I use winrar to extract something it takes much longer than usual to do it. I noticed in Task Manager the CPU usage is between 0% and 3% when idle and around 50% when it's slowly running a program.

Anyone have any ideas?

Edit: I forgot to mention I did a virus-scan with Norton 360 and a scan with Malwarebytes Pro.

Idea: HD restoration of the Phantom Edits..
Time

Possessed said:

Good point, I might not even do the phantom edit. Mainly I want to do attack of the phantom. It's my favorite fanedit as it removes much of the flaws but without it feeling chopped up and gutted. I like Q2's Fall of the Jedi trilogy, but they don't feel like full movies and they move too fast.

I am definitely for an upgrade of attack of the phantom though. Despite the AWFUL video quality of the original SD version it was still enjoyable.

By the way, Possessed, if you haven't seen Spence's version of Episode 2 you should. I think from the way you described things you would like his version.

@J.MEANS

A really good program for MKV to MP4 conversion is 'YAMB'. (Yet Another Mp4Box GUI) I've used it before with good results. Go to the videohelp website and there's download links, information, and reviews there.

Edit: Just realized you have a Mac. I'm not sure YAMB or Xmedia Recode will work for you.

No need for purist, it's the same cut (timed to the original) with enhancements. Any changes people can't deal with will be up to them to ignore. ;-)

Another ignorant question, please excuse me for it. What version is it being based on: the 2004 DVD, the 2011 BD, etc;,. ?

Please excuse my ignorance because I haven't been following this thread faithfully. I'm just curious if there will be a 'Purist' version like Ep IV or if there will even need to be one. I love Ep IV Revisited but it's only because of the Purist version. Some things that it thankfully removed were deal-breakers in your original version for me.

Info Wanted: The best "serious" Prequel fan edits?
Time

My favorite Ep I's and II's have already been mentioned by 'emanswfan' so I'll just mention my fav Ep III. Kerr's and Stankpac's Episode III edits are the best IMO with the nod I think going to Stankpac's because of the superior ending like others have mentioned before in other threads. (The video quality of Stankpac's is very good too and after upconversion practically looks HD using a BluRay player)

I don't suppose there's an HD version of uncropped version of entire trilogy, is there?

Would love to have that one in HD as I grew up watching it and whenever I see widescreen version I just can't help but feel constantly that stuff is missing...

Granted, in some shots you actually get to see more of the picture in widescreen, but in most you end up losing more than you gain.

I don't really understand this post, aren't the blurays just like what was shown in the theaters back then? (1.85:1 Widescreen)
