Who Framed Roger Rabbit? - uncensored HDTV airing(s) (Released)

Has anyone checked this version on usenet: [Deleted]

That was posted 4 days ago and it's the bluray that will be released in two weeks.  (leaked of course)  From what others said it will probably be censored like the DVD and although it has the best PQ by far of any release it's not what people in this thread are looking for.

Harmy's STAR WARS Despecialized Edition HD - V2.7 - MKV (Released)
Time

Quick question - I have the 2.1 MKV downloaded and when I try to add it to txMuxer, I get an error: Matroska parse error: invalid H264 NAL unit size. NAL unit truncated. Googling that implies that the .mkv is not compatible with blu ray and I need to do some type of re-encoding.

So what is the right way to burn the 16GB .mkv file to a blu ray that I can play on my PS3?

The mkv was most likely muxed with a version of mkvmerge GUI newer than 4.1.1.  I use 4.1.1 for all my mkv handling.  Download 4.1.1, remux the mkv, run it through Tsmuxer and all is good.

OR

Use mkvextractgui 2 and extract the tracks you want from the mkv and load those into tsmuxer.  The only thing I worry about with this option is whether the audio will stay in sync with the video.

Any interest in this still?

BTTF is DNR-free on Shaw on Demand and I can record it over HDMI, but I'm not sure if it will be better or worse than the H264 Russian capture. This is just MPEG-2 source.

So, did you have the chance to capture it recently?

I need some tech support before I can.

The device I am using is the BlackMagic Design HyperDeck Shuttle 2. The damned 10-bit uncompressed QuickTime files won't play on Windows for me. Error message about a component missing.

Google is your friend.....

In any case, he's not getting anything from us out of the deal, so if he takes another 5 years, he'll have been pretty generous to do it at all.

Yes, I definitely agree with this but I don't recall any faneditor posting all over the forum except in his own project thread.  Sorry, it just bothers me.

What was the reason for the use of DVNR on the blu ray.  I mean if they restored the movies and the quality was there for all to see why ruin it by removing an integral part of the image and what the Cinematographer intended us to see?

The film prints i saw in theaters way back when were very fine grain anyway and not grain heavy except in the scenes where you had optical generations for the special effects.

There was zero need for Universal to DVNR a film that was not so old.  I mean 1985 with the first film was the oldest.

Man is this thread bringing me down.  My all time favorite movie and one of the greatest movies ever made and they had to go and eff it all up.

On top of that it appears the WOWOW and Canal+ versions might never be available again. : (

i have very little skill and no good software

AvstoDVD is free; great program for converting files to DVD-compliant structure.

Use HCenc encoder at 2 passes with DVD9 as your output.  There should be guides you can google.  AvstoDVD isn't that difficult to use, for the most part the default settings should be fine.  You'll have to know whether your player is NTSC or PAL and choose the correct one.  PM me if you have any questions.

As far as I know, you can find torrents on public trackers - all you need to dfo is a little googling. And I'm running out of invites, so I'd appreciate if you guys could do that instead.

All of Harmy's work is on TPB.

I dunno what search terms you're using, but the only copy of the 2.0 that's coming up was uploaded a few weeks ago and now has no seeders. I've come across the rest of Harmy's stuff at a few other semi-public trackers, but none of them are as well-seeded as the spleen.

TPB search:  despecialized

I figure if I can stand the subtitles on my Star Wars documentaries i can stand them on BTTF. Plus, on the Indiana Jones WOWOW broadcasts, the subtitles only popped up to translate things (ie English signs) every so often. Are you sure that's not what happens on that instead?

See for yourself:

http://www.avsforum.com/t/1285244/back-to-the-future-bd-vs-hdtv-comparison#post_19377701

I have the Indiana Jones ones and they appear to be different that way.  If they're truly "hard-coded" it would ruin it for me.  Not sure if they can be removed.

I'm pretty sure that these Japanese subtitles are not hard-coded.

If they are we'll have to find the "Canal+ Film HD" version.

Speaking of which, i found more screenshots from this HDTV cap: http://www.sendspace.com/file/3rndcx

Well I for one can't stand those logos like "Canal+.." in the top right hand corner throughout an entire movie.  As you can see from the BTTF pt2 screenshots they're there the whole time.

The "good" screenshots come from the Japanese network WOWOW. Notice the hardcoded Japanese subs on the other images in that AVSforum thread.

I don't know where you'd find that capture nowadays. If it was posted to Usenet, it was likely a long time ago; it's probably past the retention periods of the newsreaders, and it doesn't show up on Binsearch.

These pre-Blu HDTV rips need to be preserved, they must not be allowed to vanish into the mists of time, so I'd love to get my hands on this WOWOW rip someday. Maybe ask the guy who posted the images on that forum?

Binsearch only goes back to 1100 days.  NZBClub.com goes back upwards of 1600 days fwiw.

Another person for Ady to add in the list of credits, Stuwart Freeborn passed away tuesday at the age of 98. Ady should put him right beside Irvin Kershner. Stuart Freeborn RIP, if it weren't for you we would not have the yoda we all know today.

The second spelling of Stuart is correct FWIW.

Slow Windows XP
Time

Maybe a long shot but could be the CPU is getting overheated and clocks down to prevent that, and thus slowing everything down.

Google around and see which CPU temp software works with your CPU and check the temps both at idle and load. Also see if you can find what the recommended temps are for that CPU.

If you have good cooling for the computer you might wanna open it up and clean away dust if it's been a long time.

You might also wanna check if the reason is a specific service running in the background. You can use the software ProcessExplorer for that.

And make sure Norton 360 isn't running any backup-copy thing in the background. I'm using Norton internet security myself so I'm not familiar with the additions in 360.

EDIT: To check if the CPU is clocking down you might also wanna monitor the CPU clock. Google around for software working with your CPU for this also.

Thanks You_Too for all the advice.  I think I'm going to try cleaning out the dust inside because that's helped me before.  This time it's different though.  The last time I had to clean out dust my computer would repeatedly freeze up followed by a warning 'beep'.
