Harmy's THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK Despecialized Edition HD - V2.0 - MKV & AVCHD (Released)

Ok, I must be blind as hell, but I can't find a search button for this forum, much less a "search this thread" button.  So with that said, even a Google search hasn't helped me a ton.  Here's my situation:  I have only Macs and no Blu-Ray burner.  I have downloaded the latest versions of the 3 Despecialized editions.  I can play the SW .mkv version in VLC, but the AVCHD files from ESB and ROTJ don't play in VLC, Quicktime, and won't open in Handbrake, contrary to what I HAVE found.  I really just want to stream the files to one of the half dozen boxes I have hooked up to my TV if possible.  Is there a good post somewhere that explains how to do this?

Again, I am very sorry for posting what I am sure is an oft-asked question, but I have spent a couple of hours looking online, and just can't find a good reference for this.

Open the AVCHD.  Go to the BDMV folder.  Open that then open the STREAM folder.  Play the .m2ts file with VLC.  Done.

The best analogy I read was someone's tag here, the SE is like having someone run a long scratch down the side of your car with a key. It doesn't affect the performance of even the look of your car all that much, it would equate to less than 1% of the paintwork being changed, but every time you looked at your car it would piss you off, and you couldn't help feeling annoyed and wondering why someone would do that to you.

Have another look below -

So the digital version of these books has only been out for a few days, and already certain people are ripping it and sending copies of it to each other?! Way to go!

Did it not occur to anyone here that the author might VERY well hang out here sometimes.......? Instead of copying it why not support his work by PAYING for a copy? There's a ton of hard work that has gone into these books, the least we can do here is to support work like this - as we support certain projects here - not copy it as if we were entitled to it. Not like this is a preservation project or something...!

Not cool...

I purchased all 3 in hardcover AND I purchased all 3 on Kindle (because I have a kindle). As I don't have an iPhone or an iPad, I'm not purchasing it a 3rd time to get HD files. So get on your high horse somewhere else...

Fuck off.

That breaks 3 of the 4 rules that lead to being banned.

Yes, a 1080p edit of ROTJ would be great.  I'd like to see some of the deleted scenes added to it like Daneditor's Radical edit.  I would like it to still be conservative though like you were saying.  Another thing I really liked about Daneditor's Radical version is that he moved the Yoda scene close to the beginning which worked out really well.  (Spence did that too, I think)

It would also be good if you could despecialize the whole thing and have it color corrected.

But I may try to add in Luke building his lightsaber if I can find a good place for it.

Yes, that would be great, that's by far the best deleted scene.  As far as despecializing goes I hope you won't include the 'Jedi Rocks' sequence that's my least favorite S.E. change of the OT.

I would go with the 1997 SE mix (some forum members recently released the theatrical DTS version) rather then the Bluray/DVD mix. The 97 mix is a solid remix, but the 2004 mix sounds rather awful. It's all muffled and dynamically compressed, with a droning bass sound.

Do you know anywhere where I might be able to get the 1997 versions of the films, so I can check out what new scenes were included at that point? The image quality isn´t important so it could be a tvrip or vhs no problem.

On usenet (binsearch.info) search for 'lee thorogood'.   Scroll down to his 1997 dvds.  Myspleen might have some broadcast versions still available.

Guys, what's the exact filesize of the CORRECTED v2.5 MKV file?

Wait. There's a corrected one??? Shit.

The current one I have is 19,216,809,124 bytes. What is wrong with it, and what was the fix?

Does this mean I have to download it all over again? Is the corrected one on MySpleen, with no duplicates running around? That means I will have to shut things down at TPB and KickAss Torrents.

Please somebody let me know what's up.

Freak out much?

I really like the editions you've made but there's a couple of things I'd like you to consider.   The changes you made to ROTJ I like but I can't stand the Special Edition Sarlacc; I'm sure many here would agree.

Most importantly,  I think your color correction might be off on all three.   You_Too, Adywan, and Harmy (members of this forum) are exceptional at color correction of the movies and maybe they could help you out.  Granted I would rather have basic correction on them than have it like the Green shifted Star Wars DE 2.5.

Edit:  I'll watch them again and see if I can find anything else you can improve upon.

I have requested a myspleen invite many times over the years but never received one. So usenet will be my only hope and I know I'm not alone. I'm patient and sure it will show up over the next few weeks. Huge Thanks in advance to the future usenet poster.

It is currently upping to usenet.

Thanks - but which group? Can't see it in a.b.starwars.

I was wondering the same thing.  I also tried general usenet search engines but to no avail.

No, "creation of 1:1 copies of any unprotected BD media" means that Nero allows you to copy unprotected BDs, not to CREATE unprotected BDs. At least that's how I understood it. Nero ALWAYS reencoded the video. which is the reason why I stopped using it ages ago.

Correct Nero always reencodes. IMHO it's crapware.

It's possible the authors of MultiAVCHD could be contacted about the limitation as to number of audios ?
