You’re only a true Star Wars fan if you have successfully made it through a viewing of the Holiday Special.

Why does this thread exist? Young Anakin makes no goddamned sense! Sebastian Shaw force ghost is the only appropriate answer. Everyone else can suck it.

Just watched that video. Once again, I found myself reading the comment section against my better judgement, where I found this gem:
It took video games almost 20 years in the future 1996, to become full 3d. And this is 1977 and that dude it rendering full 3d images…haha thats just fucking mind blowing! My guess it they most likely had a rendering farm, with its dozen, if not hundreds of computer all connected to one to have more memory and stuff. And this dude made a full 3d model of creatures and jabba the hut back 1977…that tech was dozens of years ahead of its time.

The Special Editions have done irreparable harm.

njvc: I hope that when ESB 2.5 comes about, you’ll have an updated release. 😃 Although I’ve had success with the multiavchd video stream replacement method in the past (I might have even told you about it?), I can’t seem to get it to work with your discs. 😃
I second this 😃
But if there’s enough call for it, an alternative disc with the 81 crawl version is doable.
I personally do not see the appeal of a 81 crawl. In my humble opinion the entire point of the Despecialized Editions is to see the films as close as possible to how they appeared first in the theaters.
I’m praying for no prequel references. That’s all. I honestly don’t care about anything else.
The search is half the fun!

Thank you! Daemon didn’t work so well for me, but it did lead me down a rabbit trail where I found “Leawo”, this bluray player software that is free and seems to work well.
I could’t get Leawo to play nicely with menus - does yours work? I had to go pick titles manually and hoped I pick the right title track.
In my humble opinions the blacks are a bit too dark and you lose some detail in the darker colors… For example, the shot of Han as they are getting out of the trash compactor - his vest kind of blends in with the dark background. Same with the shot at the Yavin IV base.

(also isn’t YT freighter actually mentioned at some point in the films?).
I think maybe it is referenced in TFA.
JEDIT: Yep: “It escaped capture aboard a stolen Corellian YT model freighter.”
I’m a huge fan of the OT because it defined much of my childhood. I had many of the action figures. I watched the films in the theater, and had VHS copies after that. So my intense fandom is really centered around the films, not the universe it created. I rebel against EU-like things where people try to come up with more explanation of things. I consider Star Wars more space fantasy and less science fiction. As soon as people start treating it like science fiction I get uncomfortable.
Example: The Millennium Falcon is Han’s ship. I’m good with that. But as soon as you start saying it’s a YT-model whatever Corellian blah blah, I’m done with you.

Hi stealthboy, gorgeous work on this! I burned all my feature/special features/documentaries spanning two discs per movie for a total of 3-2 disc cases. Will your 50 GB covers work for me?
Yep; I’m also making myself a set of the 50GB versions. I have sub-folders in each of the folders at my Google drive link for 50GB versions of things. The 50GB covers are very similar, just a few changes for SW and ESB for the number of audio options, then more changes for ROJ to include all of the trilogy documentaries found on the 50GB version. Those covers are all done and posted up there on Google drive. You’ll also find 50GB versions of the disc labels (since they just have 2 discs instead of 3 per film).
So, as an example, go into my “Covers” folder, then in there, go to “Covers for 50GB discs”. In there you’ll find the 50GB variants.
The only thing missing is the individual flyer for ROJ that will go inside the case for that film. I hope to have that done tonight.
SSE 1.6 is the latest.
For me it was pretty much 1980/1981 when I was able to see Empire and the Star Wars re-release in the theater with my parents. Then my world became Kenner Star Wars figures.
Here’s mine. Seems to be more of the aqua shade.
Wow. Stellar work, stealthboy, you really have a knack for making stunning covers and labels. Would you ever consider making a Criterion style set for the 35mm Trilogy (SSE and the two Grindhouse films)?
You know, I was considering including them in with my NJVC 50GB set. I have some extra three-disc Criterion cases, so I was contemplating including the SSE/Grindhouse as a third disc for each film…
I have completed the 50GB versions of the covers. Everything is up here: https://drive.google.com/drive/u/1/folders/0B1FmaBWRenvTb19faV8yUDhGTVk
All I did was change the text on the back. SW and ESB had only slight alterations for the number of commentaries and languages. ROJ had extensive additions because the Trilogy Documentaries are included in the second ROJ disc.
What’s a safe speed to burn BD-R 25gb or 50gb discs at? What is the best disc media to use?
I burn mine at 2x because I’m paranoid. 😃. I want to minimize the chance of coaster. Especially with the more pricey 50GB discs.
Fantastic work, Stealthboy!
Question…i’m printing from a canon mx922. The outer text is being cut off a bit from the stock printing app. How do you guys print your discs? Tips?
I’m on a Mac. I installed the MX922 drivers, but I do NOT use the Canon printing app.
I use Preview to view the disc art, then I print from there. In the print dialog, I select the correct paper size (disc tray) and the correct media (printable disc). I had to create a temp image that has a bit of white at the top of the disc image, so when I print it it all lines up. It took me a few discs to calibrate correctly. So instead of just a square image with the circle disc label, It’s taller than it is wide because I have to put a white band at the top.
Ok, finished the six disc labels - two for each film. Disc one is “MAIN FEATURE” and disc two is “DOCUMENTARIES”. This is for the 50 GB version of the NJVC set.
Everything is up here:

Thanks! They look to be the same.
I don’t think so; they are REALLY close (much more than any previous release), still, not exactly the same; EP5 and EP6 are not almost the same, but they are identical, color wise. Again, don’t know if it’s a transfer error, or they changed the colors intentionally, but they are different, albeit slightly.
Agreed. To my eye the top images look just a hair more green. It’s really close though.
Hi! will these fit the 14mm cases ?
Yes, I am making these for 14mm Criterion cases.
ANH
ESB
ROJ
TFA
R1
Princess Leia’s theme is by far my favorite piece.

I think “Main Feature” sounds better, but that’s just me.I agree. So that way we can use the existing JMoomer labels for DISC ONE. I just made a new DISC TWO for the documentaries for the 50GB version.
Oh, I didn’t even realize that. Yeah, if that also saves you some work, bonus. 😃
Here are my 50GB labels so far. I decided to make a new one for the main feature so I can keep my discs straight as I start to build out my 50GB nvjc set.
