Harmy's STAR WARS Despecialized Edition HD - V2.7 - MKV (Released)

For those of us sorry sad sacks without BluRay burners, what resources do we have for obtaining nice copies on printable media? I’d love help if anyone has an extra disc!

Thanks, Todd

I guess you have two options: 1) Buy a blu ray burner, or 2) just watch them off of a USB drive or something. Most blu ray players let you plug in a USB key.

I would like an invite please if possible. I just transferred/converted my old VHS pre-special editions to DVD but they are still grainy. I started doing some research and found out about Harmy’s despecialized versions and would love the opportunity to download this set. Thanks so much.

Do some research here on this discussion board on the proper way to do that. Figuring out how to find and acquire this set is half the fun!

I am wondering if anyone who has all of these downloads already is able to burn this set for me at the cost of the discs and shipping?

I do not have a BD burner and would only be interested in getting one for this set.

If anyone is interested or could be so wonderfully kind, please message me.

I bought a blu-ray burner just for this. There are many models under $100 now.

Blu-Ray and other HD box size STAR WARS covers
Time

Just my additional two cents: I LOVE the cover. I love the spine. I really enjoy the sepia tones of the whole thing. I love the choice of background images on the back. The only thing that stands out to me is the crawl font and the credits font. So, instead of trying to go yellow to match the film, why not just go radically different? I felt the white text of your first example was better to my eye. But find a nice font like Gill Sans (my personal favorite these days). Also, the credits could look like the poster credits with the right font choice. For example, this: http://i.imgur.com/nCbh3Sg.jpg

At some point it’s all just personal taste! It’s art, after all 😃.

Just a few observations that stood out to me: The font on the back isn’t quite right yet, especially in the credits area. I’ve seen many folks try to put the opening crawl on paper like this and it just looks weird not receding at an angle… perhaps if you did full justification left and right to stretch it as it appears on film it may help. Also, I would made the logos at the bottom of the back all white instead of black.

Criterion-like box set for njvc's custom blu-ray set

What size card stock did you use to print out the outer box set?

Is it 8.5 x 11? Or bigger? did you go to a print shop to do this?

I constructed the box first out of black chipboard connected together with paper tape. Then I printed the images on glossy 8.5 x 11 photo paper. I printed the front and back separately. After cutting them out with an X-acto knife, I used a spray adhesive on the back of the paper to attach them to the thick cardboard box.

Sure, I’ll add the source XCF files to that google drive folder I linked to. Sorry, I totally forgot to add those files up there.

Funny you mention the “mega” set you’re working on, because that’s exactly what I’m doing - Adding in the SSE/Grindhouse discs as a third disc to each in the 50GB njvc set. I was just organizing all my various Star Wars VHS/DVD/BD and am trying to cut down on shelf space!

"Alert my Star Destroyer to prepare for my arrival." What was the point?

Reading through all of this just makes me angry. I’m angry that Lucas felt the need to f$%k up the films just for no good reason.

All I can say is I’m glad that in my household all we watch are the original theatrical versions. I just feel bad for more “casual” fans who don’t have access to such things and are forced to watch the butchered versions.

What movies do you consider canon?

I totally understand how a prequel reference can ‘offend’ someone who doesn’t accept the prequels as canon. But my biggest problem with the prequels is that they didn’t feel like they were a part of the same universe as the OT, I’m happy with almost anything that ties the two trilogies together a little bit more. Rogue One did a pretty good job of tying the two trilogies together, IMO.

I’m glad that I can watch the OUT, TFA, and R1 and not have to acknowledge the existence of the prequels AT ALL. I’m really hoping that The Last Jedi keeps that going. There are so many prequel lovers that want to see things shoehorned into the new stuff - F that. You can go watch your prequels, but keep them out of the rest of the stuff.

I feel like Disney knew they had to distance themselves from the prequels. So far it’s working out just fine.

Those 50GB versions look so amazing. I would love to get my hands on them. Thank you very much for making them. Is there any chance you can send me links to both the 50GB versions of the Despecialized Editions and the Documentaries for the Original Trilogy, please? I really want to create a 6-disc box set of the Star Wars Despecialized Editions in time for the franchise’s 40th anniversary.

You’ll need to go to the myspleen invite thread and request an invite. They are available there.
