Episode VIII : The Last Jedi - Discussion * <strong><em>SPOILER THREAD</em></strong> *

You can see print on the opposite side of the page. A book, perhaps?

EDIT: Hmm, quick google shows that Casino Royale has a chapter 20 titled The Nature of Evil.

Anyone here a Bond fan?

‘You see,’ he said, still looking down at his bandages, ‘when one’s young, it seems very easy to distinguish between right and wrong, but as one gets older it becomes more difficult. At school it’s easy to pick out one’s own villains and heroes and one grows up wanting to be a hero and kill the villains.’

That’s from chapter 20 of Casino Royale. Bond is telling Mathis that he is going to resign. I’m a bit of a fan. Heck, we named our daughter “Vesper”. 😃

Won’t this process leave white edges from the paper of your finished box is all black?

Because I’m a perfectionist and you are right that it would leave white edges, I carefully use a black marker to color the paper edges 😃.

As am I! I am working on my own custom box using the “Make” method with spray adhesive. Does the masking tape cause any issues when gluing the actual art on the box?

I used paper tape so I’ve had no issues.

So how exactly are you making the boxes themselves sturdy? Me friend and I just made two of your Star Wars boxes but the slip cases that the blu-ray cases go in are very very thin and fragile and honestly I’m afraid I’m going to break them. So for the Indiana Jones one how did you make it so sturdy?

I use a thick cardboard stock called Chipboard. Got some 12x12 black pieces through Amazon. It’s a little over 1mm thick. I cut pieces to size and use paper tape to construct the initial box. I then print the artwork onto photo paper, cut, and use a spray adhesive to attach it to the chipboard box. I’m sure others have a different process, but this works for me.

Do you have a link to the product page on Amazon. After looking locally, I think I am going to have to go with Amazon for ordering chipboard for my boxes.

Thanks

Criterion-like box set for njvc's custom blu-ray set
Time

I’ve switched my focus over to the 50GB versions entirely now, so I am finishing up some flyers for inside the blu-ray cases which have some notes about the special features on discs one and two, and inside a listing of audio options and chapters. Should have something up here in a couple days. I think I’m ready to call this “done”! (for now, haha)

Before asking I read almost every page of this post and I have not found an answer. On the first page of this post I have seen that the author put a link to a video of the prewiew of the menus and then I have seen all the links to the covers of the blu rays, but I have not seen any link from the isos

There is no link to the iso images. That would be too easy! 😃

You could give me an invitation to myspleen. I would thank you very much

Please, with all due respect, do your research! You’ll find there is a specific thread for requesting myspleen invites. I even referenced that in my original reply to you. I know you’re new here, but please look around a bit first and figure out how things work. We’re trying really hard to not clutter all the threads with “hey give me an invite!” posts. Too late, I know!

We are all devoted fans who want to experience Star Wars as it was meant to be seen. While we’re trying to have real discussions about all of this it’s a little disheartening to see newbies fly in and demand stuff just because they heard about these “Despecialized” things somewhere.

I guess I’m just old and come from a time where humility and patience are things 😃.

Best of luck, and please see this thread to start your journey:

Han - Solo Movie ** Spoilers **
Time

Judge said:
For one, I get the feeling that this film will totally ruin Han’s arc in ANH. He goes from “cynical smuggler who cares only about himself” to “rogue who sacrifices his own interests to save his friends” in the course of the film. That’s his character. If they try and make Han out to be a good guy in the standalone movie (which they will; this is Disney we’re talking about here) it will spoil his character progression. This will make his whole subplot in ANH completely pointless.

The Special Edition of Star Wars already ruined his character. But yes, this could be the final blow.

Star Wars Despecialized Editions - Custom Bluray Set (Released)

Hello all.

I recently bought a blu ray player, so I’m late in getting started with these. I already have a DL DVD of Adywan’s Star Wars: A New Hope Revisited. I’m in the process of downloading the MKV versions of Harmy’s Despeciallized versions but would love to have njvc’s versions as well. The time and effort put into these is incredible. Only in this day and age are these even possible. A good time to be a fan.

I would be grateful for an invite to spleen. I’m not new to the value of seeding and the importance of keeping a positive ratio. So, I would continue for as long as possible.

Much appreciated.

Please check the myspleen invite thread for this. We’re trying our best to keep all the invite requests to one location as to not clutter every other thread. Thanks!

Hi, I’m new to this post and I would like to know how I can download the isos (with the menus)

Please do some research first! It’s amazing what a little reading will do. We get the same kinds of posts all the time here, but if people would take just a little time to do some reading of some posts here or elsewhere, they will find out all they need to know!

(hint: start with the myspleen invite thread.)

Screw the fans, release the damn thing so the people who made it what it was can feel appreciated. If they are even alive now. So aggravating.

This is a very good point that sometimes gets overlooked. It’s not just about the fans who want the original, but it’s really about preserving what won the film 7 Academy Awards - for those who made it but also just for our culture as a whole. Think about the fields it won in… then realize the SE has altered all of those achievements. Is it really an Academy Award winning movie anymore? Especially when I think about Visual Effects, Editing, and Sound Mixing. All of those have been drastically altered.

Harmy's THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK Despecialized Edition HD - V2.0 - MKV &amp; AVCHD (Released)

Agreed that you don’t want to farm work out to an uneven and unproven group. But personally, I would love to learn and contribute back in any way I could, and I would be motivated to learn to do it the way Harmy and others would want. I have gotten so much enjoyment from the Despecialized Editions that I feel I owe the contributors a debt that I would like to repay. If there is any way someone with some graphic art experience could help out, just let me know. I have been trying to work on more cover art to try to contribute, but making the actual restoration work easier by helping in any way would be awesome.

I think that was a very irresponsible tweet by Pablo. It did nothing positive at all. All it did was anger the OUT fans and further drive us away from the new Disney Star Wars direction.

If they have such active contempt for the very core of us who saw Star Wars in the theaters in the 70’s and 80’s, they are throwing away the legacy that made everything so great in the first place. I can only hope Lucasfilm slaps his wrists a bit for this. Not the way you want to solidify your very diverse fan base.

Gee, it’s almost as if when you’re rude and condescending to peopleabout things THEY like (in this case, the Prequels and the SE) they may be rude and condescending about things YOU like (the OOT).

Yeah, but it’s not like someone is going in and shitting all over their beloved prequels and changing things to be more inline with the OUT. It’s not equivalent here. We actually feel like not only do they like the prequels, but with the SE, they have also destroyed what we love so much.

I’m fine with people liking the prequels up until they start trashing the OUT. Then we will have words. I make the mistake of venturing over to reddit.com/r/starwars/ sometimes. Basically I’m not a real fan and not welcome because I don’t embrace the prequels and all the changes they feel were necessary to the OT just to fit more inline with their prequels.

Ok, so I’m all pessimistic and think that if anything they’ll just release a 4K SE and we’ll all be disappointed.

But then what keeps me intrigued is the disappearance of Mike Verta. I just watched a few of his short videos from 2 years ago thinking that this guy put too much work into it (just the one clip of the X-wings leaving Yavin IV alone was astonishing!) for it all to just go away… Not even leaked out. If I put on my tin foil hat, I think he was hired by Disney and given all the things to do it right.

To anyone who can direct me,

I just got my invite to MySpleen and was able to download njvc’s blu-ray isos (disc #1) of the 3 films. But I can’t find the special features (disc #2) or bonus documentaries (disc #4) for each movie. Where can I look to complete my sets? Incredible work btw, njvc!

Thanks for the help!

Search for “njvc” in the description not the name.
