Final Fantasy.
I recently disted off my NES emulator and started playing Final Fantasy 2 recently. Had a very innovative level-up system (if your health or magic dropped below 1/2 during combat, your HP and MP would usually increase). You could even attack your own characters to get more damage done.

Ewok feature film bootlegs ('Caravan Of Courage' & 'Battle For Endor')
Time
I've seen both movies multiple times. I remember I was really bummed out the first time I saw 'Battle for Endor'. They killed off 3 of the 4 human characters.

I'd lvoe to see all of them (the 2 movies and the 2 TV shows) on DVD, not necessarily because I liked them, but more because I'd enjoy remembering more about when I wanted them.

That's a rather negative way of looking at it.

I think a better way to put it would be to say that humans are not perfect, and never will be. We must survive because we strive to better ourselves.

Earlier in the thread, you asked what the extremists motivation was for wanting us all dead. I skimmed over a lot of the thread, so if someone already answered, take this reenforcement to what they wrote.

The hate us, they want us dead, they want our families dead, they want our houses burned to the ground (thanks Mr. DeNiro) simply because of who and what we are. Their extreme view of Islam says to them that our ways are not right, and that if they do not destroy us, that our ways will corrupt them.

Example: Do you recall how things were in Taliban controlled Afghanistan?? The women were covered head-to-toe, were not allowed to be educated, had no power, etc.

What do we do in the west (US, Europe, etc.)?
A woman is the National Security Advisor, one of the most important positions in the US government, and she is an extremely educated person.
And what about how our women are clothed?? It would be an extremist's nightmare to visit a California beach.

The Islam extremists are similar to the "bible-thumpers" of the United States, except to my knowledge, the bible-thumpers don't carry out terrorist acts (I could be wrong). They both have extreme views on how society must be run.

One other quick thing: Warbler, you stated that "he lied about the WMDs and the connection with terrorists".

1a. If everyone through your life told you that grass was purple, not green, would you be lying?

1b. if you remember at the beginning of the war, there was talk that many weapons were sent to and hidden in Syria. Well, within the last 2 weeks, terrorists were caught trying to enter Jordan with a bomb and plans to launch a biological strike that would have killed as many as 80,000 people (the target was the capital of Jordan, Amman, I think).
Where do you suppose they got that bomb and the materials for it?

2a. Proof appears almost daily that Iraq DID have connections to terrorists. There were camps in Iraq, and whats-his-face spent time in Baghdad recuperating after an injury (lost his leg??). Those are 2 we knew about even before the war.

Did Bush exaggerate the threat potential? That I will give you.

But , as you said, that does not mean that removing Saddam was not a good thing.

NO! I should have the initiative to get off my lazy butt and do something. The same is true of this player.
Another problem with that situation is that most people nowadays will not take responsibility for their own actions. Many people (possibly at the advice of a lawyer)out there would (continuing with your own example) sue the console manufacturer and/or game manufacturer for creating such an addicting product.

Remember Spaceworld 2000? The first Gamecube demonstrations were made there. The 2 videos shown were:
1. A reconstruction of the Assault on the Death Star from EP4, to promote the Rogue Squadron 2: Rogue Leader game that was an initial release.
2. A 30 second duel between Ganondorf and Link.

I could have wet myself when I first watched those 2 videos. A lot of people were disappointed when Wind Waker was turned into a cel-shaded game. It was too different.

I think everyone just got happy again.

Censorship

I'm 23, will be 24 in July.

Someone said earlier that TVs have just become babysitters. I agree with this point. So are the libraries (like where I work) and the malls and any of the other places kids go after school instead of going home.

I am against automated censorship like what this DVD player is marketted to do.
I am all for parental censorship though. The problem is, I see parents being less and less involved with their kids. ou cannot have parental censorship without the parents.

Sometimes it isn't their fault. If both parents must work to get by, then that is what needs to happen, but the family suffers as a whole.

IMDB had been reporting that Jackie Chan was going to be Cato.
I wish that had held up.

Steve Martin can do physical comedy like Sellers, but I'm not convinced he's the man for the part. If he wasn't so old...I'd almost want Chevy Chase in the role instead.

Problem is neither of them is young enough for this movie. IMDB says its supposed to be a prequel to the original movies (although that could be wrong).

Warming to Cause Catastrophic Rise in Sea Level?
Time
Mark Twain once said: "There are lies, damn lies and Statistics."

The article cites a temperature growth over the last century. In the grand history of the Earth, that is such a small amount of time. Its like predicting the outcome of a U.S. election based on the polling of 1-3 people.

One could say that there is a trend towards global warming for the past 50,000 years.
Well, of course, there has. There was an Ice Age back then!

Hypothetic Situation...
Time
Not necessarily, Bossk, and for a few reasons:

1. We are looking at what, 20 years between end of EP3 and the end of EP6, when Vader is finally unmasked. People change in 20 years.

2. Anakin suffers from some agonizing injuries. We do not know to what extent is body needs to be rebuilt. I think its a forgone conclusion that his hair never grows back. If facial reconstruction is needed, that kind of thing would contribute as well.

3. As for the ghost issue...did Yoda or Obi-wan come back young (well, the younger Obiwan might still get pasted in for all we know)??
No.

Why shouldn't the old Anakin appear?

Hypothetic Situation...

Let's say that George Lucas breaks down and agree to release the Original editions, but he still wants to fix some continuity issues (the Emperor of ESB, for example).

All the old FX, just a couple fixes.

What do you think?

No more CG landspeeder.
No more Han Shoots First.
No more bad CG Jabba.
Old Wampa Ice Monster puppet.
Dumped Jedi Rocks.
Original "Yub Yub" Ewok ending.

Now Walt Disney, he is frozen in carbonite, at least, that's what the rumors say...
Ted Williams and his son are frozen too. Those a fact. What is rumored with Ted is that they accidentally cracked his skull in the process of freezing him.

I'm trying to find it, but I remember posting a huge list from tf.n of some changes that were rumored. The Hayden-on-Sebastian face plastering was on that list.

Added:
No sooner do I submit the message, but I find the article.
Classic Trilogy Ultimate Edition in the Works
Look at number 12 under the ROTJ section. Talks about Hayden being painted up and replacing Sebastian Shaw.

Changes in 2004 DVDs

Wait a minute...I must have misread something.

Anakin's ghost??
The ghost effect shouldn't be TOO hard to change, given what we have seen from that one screenshot I posted earlier. If Lucas has the original film that was shot (the ghosts were obviously added later), re-combining the individual elements (just as they did in 1983) shouldn't be tough at all.

What about Anakin himself, on the Death Star? If that gets changed, THEN I can see some trouble of 'Gumpian' porportions.

I hope Lucas knows what he's doing with this. The 'face-plastering' effect I've seen in other movies just looks like complete #&$^.
My Fellow Americans and Forest Gump both come to mind.

Funniest Movie Ever
Time
I must agree with many mentioned here so far:
Monty Python- Holy Grail
Monty Python- Life of Brian
Spaceballs
Blazing Saddles

Well, let me add some:
1. Any movie involving cross-dressing, and the efforts made in protecting the 'secret' are usually very amusing. 2 movies come to mind: Mrs. Doubtfire and Tootsie.
Mrs. Doubtfire: Twas the drink that killed him...
Miranda: How awful, he was an alcoholic?
Mrs. Doubtfire: No, he was hit by a Guinness truck.

2. Monty Python's the Meaning of Life- Yes, its raunchy, disgusting, and thoroughly detestible at times, but the fat man and his 'wafer thin mint' was great.

3. How is it no one mentioned the original Lampoon, Animal House!!
Bluto: Over? Did you say "over"? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!
Otter: Germans?
Boon: Forget it, he's rolling.
