What the Hell is Going on in France?
Time
Story out of France:

Chirac vows to end French 'malaise'
The unrest across France is the sign of a "profound malaise" that must be met with firmness but also by being just, President Jacques Chirac has said.

I had to look up Malaise to be sure...
mal·aise ( P ) Pronunciation Key (m-lz, -lz)
n.
A vague feeling of bodily discomfort, as at the beginning of an illness.
A general sense of depression or unease: “One year after the crash, the markets remain mired in a deep malaise” (New York Times).

For Chirac to refer to the troubles in France in this way, he either:
a. is the greatest master of understatement
b. is a complete moron
c. is completely blind to what is going on
d. has the worst translators in the world working for him
e. all of the above

Also, props to Green Bay for sticking it to the Falcons. Good on ya Favre.
Watched the replays of those field goals, that was absolutely amazing...that kick didn't even hit the net, some fan got to catch it.

Asterix
Time
I am happy to say I am aware of Asterix, despite my being American. I remember seeing the (I assume) 80s cartoons on either Nickelodeon or Disney Channel when I was quite young.

I remember that there was supposed to be a video game for one of the Nintendo systems (I think Gamecube...possibly N64) called "Kick Asterix", but I don't think it was ever completed.

I was not aware of the existence of Asterix beyond the handful of cartoons, though. Interesting to learn he's been around so long.

I heard yesterday that Jaques has come out and is trying to appease the people, just like the French appeased Hitler and I think we all know what happened then.

I also heard today that the French government is try to rush through their parliment (or whatever they have) a law that would allow city governments to institute curfews.
1. They didn't have that power before?
2. The country itself cannot institute a curfew for the entire country??

I think its safe to say now that Europe has lost the crusades...it just took a lot longer than anyone thought it would.

I'm sure most liberals find THAT choice lacking. Most sane ones, anyway.

And you think Condoleeza "Bush kiss-ass" Rice would do any better? Clinton may not be the best candidate in the U.S., but you must take the lesser of the two evils!
I've heard people suggesting she won't even get the nomination. She's said things that were all over the political spectrum to appease whoever she happens to be talking to. The people on the far-left won't vote for hear because of the centrist things she's said, and the centrists won't vote for her because of far-left things.
With this information society, she cannot depend on lack of news to protect one side from the other.

I think Reid's brain is just where it belongs. He did allow for TO's suspension (I mean, he was obviously consulted on it and he had to have given it his ok, otherwise we'd have heard about it).

Face it...the Eagles have had a rough year. TO is a pain, Donovan has been playing hurt, you lost Duce Staley to free agency.

As for my own team, I know exactly what happened. You cannot possibly suffer that many injuries and perform even at a mediocre level. 3 Receivers, 2 Backs, half the offensive line in one game (luckily they were back within a week or 2).
Being the optimist, the Packers really haven't played that bad. In most of their losses, they were 1 play from a win. This past week, it was that 77-yard fumble return for touchdown against Pittsburgh. That 1 play meant a swing of 10 points (Steelers scored 7 and denied the Packers 3...there was no doubt they'd have a field goal if the fumble hadn't happened), and it was 6 - 3 at that point in the game.

I think every Packers fan in AMERICA would hang themselves at that news.

Packers are a class organization. They wouldn't allow his attitude in the locker room. The moment he started acting up, he'd probably get sat on by Grady Jackson. They traded a star CB in Mike McKenzie because of his attitude.

Besides that, they've already got enough trouble from the 'Rosenhog' clients on the team. They are not stupid enough to get another one.

Also, they've got practically no cap room. They could take his salary.

However, if pigs would fly and TO cleaned up his act, I'm sure they'd find a way to get their hands on him.

Found out the hard way about it not being a separate set.

Music is nice, most of it I didn't have.

I doubt any studio exec would use that as an excuse.

Its a true statement, but you wouldn't really hear it from a studio.

Yes, when we did Barbwire we DID realize it was a really bad knockoff of Casablanca. But we thought Pamela Anderson would make up for it.

The Marx Brothers
Time
What an interesting coincidence that this thread get started today.

I went to work yesterday (Halloween) as Groucho Marx. Maybe I'll share a photo...

I've enjoyed the Marx Brothers since I was 4-5 years old. My parents have told me that watching their movies taught me to talk. I've got all their movies on DVD. 2 sets that were released in the last year, plus I recently picked up Love Happy (which also happens to include one of Marilyn Monroe's first appearances and a man named Raymond Burr who would later go on to become famous as Perry Mason).

I watched most of the films in the last month to get ready for Halloween, and I have to say I think Animal Crackers is probably my favorite. Groucho's interaction with Rosco W. Chandler and Emmanuel Ravelli (Chico) are great.
We must remember that art is art. Still on the other hand water is water. And east is east and west is west, and if you take cranberries and stew them like applesause it tastes much more like prunes than rubbarb does.
Now, ahh, you tell what you know.

Then you have Groucho's speech about his trip to Africa.

Who knows most about Star Wars??
Time
I don't believe I'm the MOST knowledgeable, but I think its fair to say I know an above-average amount.

I've (obviously) seen all the movies. I've also got Troops, both Ewok movies and some other things on DVD (Star Wars to Jedi, Star Wars to Star Wars, Nova: The Magic of Special Effects, George Lucas in Love, etc.).

I've read 27 of the novels (all are pre-NJO). I own a bunch as well. Bless the creators of Half-Price Books.

I own a bunch of the "Essential Guides."

I love Curtis Saxton's Star Wars Technical Commentaries.
