They are on blutopia, along with other projects.
It was released several days ago… and I know it would be better without blurred subs, but that’s the only source, so… just select YAO subtitles, and the shots with blurred subs and/or logo would be just matted to 2.40:1!
is he on your team?

Contacted him some months ago; never heard again since then… 😦
I made a few screenshot comparisons from the first act. I can make more if anyone is interested.
Great! Would be even great to have them all in a single comparison page (on screenshotcomparison or also https://diff.pics); for this purpose, JPG would do, to have the page light enough.
These screenhots show the labour of love Adywan used in this project…
TFA deleted scene #1 - timecode removal test using just automatic inpainting technique (and a grain plate to hide a bit more the artefacts); no manual correction made

far from perfect, still better than the timecoded version, isn’t true?
Opinions?
Finished to watch, seems perfect to me! Great job, Adywan!
Just two letters swap into the Italian subtitles, correct file is here: https://fs01n3.sendspace.com/dl/d2da6d5e28ea0e8fa0642e54668da13f/5990e3765fc31e68/642r5v/ESB_REVISITED_720P_x264_ITA.srt
“or don’t visit visit” just after the big 1-800-PHONEY-THX… very tiny error, but I’m sure you would to know that, for an eventual fix - still to watch it, though, but I wanted to read that THX joke first! 😉
Going to watch it right now!
You know? Happy to have waited until today… c’mon, you all know why! 😄
Some ideas I think I’ve expressed in the thread, but too lazy to come back to read…
open matte shots: in particular from DVD menus, but other static ones could be recreated, as explained in this clip https://vimeo.com/196835947 - now it’s possible to mask the added “slices” top and bottom with an hack that would work an almost all players
black & white deleted scenes: I’d prefer to have them colorized, but I’m not that good at is; help is still needed
EP 1, 2, 3 deleted scenes: many are almost ready
EP 4, 5, 6 deleted scenes: they need to be cleaned, so if some very skilled talent would chime in…
Bravo, Adywan, bel lavoro! (good job)
Not assuming that.
Of course, cookie would be better but, in case user would deny or block it, IP is the good second choice; at the end, how many users that share the same IP would use that site, and would eventually delete that very comparison?
Dunno how much it would take to merge two sources (or average/median more) using photoshop, but with avisynth the encode time is pretty fast (from real time with old PC up to 4/5 times with newer ones)
Frame by frame? Good luck! 😄
I use avisynth, but I think any other video tools would work.
Merging two sources from PAL & NTSC could help, take a look here: https://forum.fanres.com/thread-25.html
I think IP solution would do - the one that uses screenshotcomparison probably.
Great!
Now, it would be perfect if the comparison could be expanded fullscreen.
Regrading tests - WARNING! no color references used, so they are purely fan regrades.
Episode I
Episode II
Episode III
AFAIK the various b&w versions of color films (like Logan, The Mist, Fury Road) were color corrected scene by scene (or even shot by shot), so if you would achieve a great result, you should follow this path… I know, painful, but rewarding! 😉
Difference between desaturated and your version is minimal… I’d go with something strong, like high contrast:
of course you can have crushed blacks and/or clipped whites, but you will decide if it’s the price you want to pay to get a different visual style; of course there are also many steps inbetween - play with contrast, brightness, gamma, and also RGB color channels. And have fun!
I saw it, but first example on youtube doesn’t look so promising, sadly…
May you check it out, and report your conclusions here? Thanks a lot!
I’ll accept any decision. 😉
What it prompted me to post this is mainly the fact it’s possible to get rid of “unpure” shots (the ones with blurred subtitles remains) just selecting a subtitle track - the first instance in a fan project AFAIK, and rarely seen in official releases - and to get some feedbacks on this - compatibility with hard/soft players, and what the viewers think about it.
Thanks to you!
ROTLA is available on Soderbergh own blog, 720p - not aware of any 1080p version.
No Country for Old Men: may you post some comparison between simple desaturated source and your noir version? Thanks!
For ROTLA, it exists the Soderbergh version, did you know that?
But it’s out on Digital HD…
