What kind of glitch? Can you please post the frame number(s) and eventually a screenshot? Thanks!
What kind of glitch? Can you please post the frame number(s) and eventually a screenshot? Thanks!
I did a fast comparison; I'm waiting for feedbacks!
Recently I worked on Supernova, using two different HDTV broadcasting as sources, merged them, and finally put a grain plate over the mix; result is very good in comparison to any of them.
So, I'm thinking about the possibility to do the same with The Matrix; using two HDTV files, merge them and put a grain plate to try to cancel compression artifacts; the fact is, the HDTV is 1.78:1 and not 2.35:1...
Is it a good idea?
Apart the obvious things (better source media and player, better cables etc.) I'd like to explore some different approaches:
average/median multiple capture (using the same media/player)
I tried several times, and it works really well - it delete noise and dropouts NOT present in the media/player
average/median multiple capture (using different media/player)
usually it delete noise and dropouts ALSO if present in the media/player
hardware TBC
it improves the quality of tape based media - like VHS or Video8
hardware Comb Filter
it improves the quality of composite based media - like VHS or Laserdisc
phase-inversion trick
it deletes completely any dot crawl in theory - never found the working way in real life, though... anyone who is aware of how to make it work, please post the info here, thanks!
component4all
found here - it seems it works well (apart the change in color)... further investigations and tests are needed!
Are you aware of any other technique? Please share it with the community!
Just another reason to NOT watch the BD...
OK, fixed version is on the spleen... if someone has still not grabbed it, you are welcome; for the others, who are courageous enough to wait another week to get the fixed version... thanks for your patience! (^^,)
Definitely not B... (^^,)
JED, thanks also for that small glitch: now I must re-encode and, as it takes three days, I'd like to know if you all like the grain structure present, or if you want some less or more...
Again, don't worry about it; at the contrary, you did a good service not to me, but to all the future watchers of this release. Thanks!
And, as you have good eyes, please watch it again to see if there are further glitches, please... (^^,)
Thanks to Oldfan for his quality control supervision!
As I must correct the glitches, please AVOID to download it, until the revised version is ready.
Meanwhile, for all the others who has download it, please point me to eventual further problems; I'll watch it again today to spot them, but again, your help will be very appreciated!
Thanks for your review!
About abnormalities:
1) you are completely right, I'm afraid! This was due to the very aggressive noise reduction I used to delete all those scratches and drop outs (often HUGE) present in the sources - that in this shot was confused - and sadly I didn't notice it when I watched the final version... maybe due to the fact that there are only few frames inside a flashy shot, or maybe I blinked the eyes too much there, or... don't know, but there is definitely an error, and it must be corrected!
2) this is in both HDTV sources (even in the retail DVD!) - probably it's a "patch" in the master to replace a corrupted part:
(from DVD - http://s22.postimg.org/wevw65po1/sprnv.jpg)
Now you are *obliged* to post your feedback after you have grabbed it... (-^,)
After "only" six days, I finished to seed it: hope you guys continue to seed it as well for some time, as I'm forced to shut down this poor old PC tonight, to give it some deserved rest! (^^,)
Waiting for your feedbacks!
To whom it may concern: now AVP:R [spoRv] is available also on tehparadox!
Agree: leave it alone, also to avoid confusion... at least, the user who wants a bit more "pop" will just raise up the saturation control in his/her tv set!
I'd like to finish the upload to ms first, then I'll release somewhere else... pm me in a week, and I'll let you know!
Thanks for your appreciation! There are things like this that keep me going on with my work... thank you again!
Just finished to watch the test clip: color grading is really good, it reminds me - color wise - my SW [ruLes] projects with laserdisc as source... great job, as usual!
Thanks!!
I added in the first post links to three screenshot comparisons and to the revised test clip - now 100% like the final release.
PROJECT RELEASED!
On the usual place, you know... (^^,)
Bob, it's TPB and not tpm; just google it, and you'll find the way to download this project.
Good job, I like the results, go ahead this way!
Recently I acquired another capture card - the Sweetspot (a.k.a. PDI Deluxe) - and I had A LOT of problems to make it work properly...
At the end, I used DScaler; after I was able to watch the image (tweaking with all the video settings) I closed it, opened VDub and finally it worked!
Try to do this test, and if it doesn't work I must add that I tried VDub with Windows 7 too (32 bit) and it didn't work at all, so maybe it's just a compatibility issue... I stick with ye olde Windows XP as it works with every software I need for restoration purposes.
Another unexpected restoration of a classic film: great job, as usual!!!
Jerry, go for it! I'm so busy with the other projects that I don't know when (if) I'll release a 2.0 version, so you are welcome to release an audiophile version!
I'd like to see a proper BD-50 with menu if possible, but this is your choice.
