I agree with You_Too; the Mondo BD seems to have the better balanced color grading.

Here you are my attempt of color regrading the 4K using the Mondo as color reference:

Original Mondo BD

ColourMatch'ed 4K

(full res: http://s17.postimg.org/ugli3ajjh/GBU_4k_Colour_Match_RGB.jpg)

Of course, final quality is not so high due to the fact that I used only screenshots; I'd like to test it with some test footage taken from both 4K and Mondo BDs...

Still thinking all of these color regrading discussion merit its own thread!

Help Wanted: Does anyone have The Good, Bad & Ugly laserdisc audio?

I'm sorry Lil Brutto, but you have made a mistake... the frame used for that comparison is not from kk650 regrade - at least, not from the link he posted in this thread: http://www.screenshotcomparison.com/comparison/74870

Here you are the two frames (untouched), one after the other:

2009 Mondo BD

2014 MGM regraded by kk650

(taken from http://www.screenshotcomparison.com/comparison/74870)

This is not because I don't like kk650's work; at the contrary, we are good friends, and I admire his work as much as he admires mine, and I'm sure he will confirm the comparison you made has not used his regraded frame.

However, if you have taken the regraded frame from another screenshot comparison, I apologize, and I kindly ask you to post the link of that one.

Thanks for the link!

Here you are (according to the links found in this thread, plus mine) the screenshot comparisons:

After comparing it looks like kk650's regrade is nearly spot on with the Mondo BD:

Don't know where this link come from - not from this thread; to me, this seems not a regrade, but just two near frames from the same source; indeed, you could note that 2014 MGM and 2009 Mondo have different cropping, as you can see in the first link and not in this one...

[spoRv] projects - past and future
Time

Even if I must agree that this title should be preserved, I'm sorry, you are right, it's not my kind of things... (^^,) plus, I have not the laserdisc nor any HDTV source, and don't forget I'm following (too) many projects at the moment...

What I could suggest is to post your request in the main "other preservation" forum, and ask there if someone would like to make this project; good luck!

OK, first I'd like to know if I have well understood the situation...

The italian BD has the best color grading, according to many, while the new 4K version has a better definition, right?

Well, if the links I posted are to the right editions, there is a problem... the italian one is 167 minutes while the 4K is only 155 minutes... or is the latter length wrong?

I have also this laserdisc that should be 162 minutes plus additional deleted scenes in italian, perfect for the mono audio track.

I think for the video it's possible to color regrade the 4K version using the italian BD as reference, then use the latter for the (eventual) missing shots; for the audio, it is possible to use the laserdisc for almost all, then use the missing part from the 4K BD (if it has also the extended edition) or a previous extended edition DVD.

Well, I must confess I'm not well informed about the various versions of this movie, but indeed I'm curious to know if I could be able to help.

Also, this laserdisc box set could be indeed useful for the other two movies!

Escape From New York [spoRv] *BD-25 RELEASED*
Time

As I'm really bothered when the audio track is out of sync for more than about 20ms, I would surely be aware of these kind of problem... 200ms are 5 frames (and 250ms are 6 frames), and it's impossible to anyone NOT to notice this!

But to check it out, I played the .m2ts file, listening carefully to the english LD, AC3 and DTS tracks, and none of them were out of sync... to be 100% sure, I loaded the LD and AC3 tracks in Audacity, played them together, and they were not out of sync, so... sorry, but this problem should be in your system!

Sorry for that glitch - it is NOT in the source, just in the final release...

Don't know why it happened, and why I have not spotted before release... it's a computer+human error, and I'm really sorry!

This could not be considered minor, and should be fixed ASAP; as I have to re-encode it, is there anything else that should be adjusted? Grain, brightness, contrast etc.?

Thanks in advance for your help!
